I love to see dogs enjoying themselves when no one is about. They are a so loving and noble animal you would wonder how some people could be so insensitive and cruel towards them. I only wish that my two dogs had so much freedom as Cali does. Go Cali, I'm glad to see that what happened to you last year has been forgotten. Happy birthday to you and I hope Shawn gets you lots of meat to eat at Christmas.

I lost my best friend Sky, a beautiful golden retriever like Cali, 3 weeks ago. She was 14.5 years old & the sweetest natured, most intelligent dog I've ever known: boy did she learn things so fast. When she was happy, her tail went round in circles like a windmill. She gave genuine gummy grins & loved nothing more than affection. I miss that girl badly. I see so much of a young Sky in Cali. Cali is the great representative of Mans Best Friend! We had our Yellow Lab 3 weeks shy of 15 years, that was tuff when he passed. I loved that dog, Lago was his name. Boy, you could teach him anything in a matter of days, he caught on quick. I duck and goose hunted this dog retrieving at only 7 months, he was definitely a smart dog, and looked forward to being in the field with me. He shook with excitement upon seeing the birds coming in to our decoys. Man I miss that dog. Haven’t replaced him to this day, as he passed back in 1997. I haven’t bird hunted since those days gone by, but do miss him and have plenty of pics of “Lago” to reminisce of our great times together. Enjoy your times with Cali, as we see you and her in your daily routine of outings and hanging out witnessing y’all’s strong bond, and it brings back GREAT memories of our family lab. Dogs can teach we humans a lot; loyalty, forgiveness, trust, grace, and love. My precious companion died recently and I miss her so much. I enjoy watching Cali live the best dog life with a kind human as her companion.

I hope you had a good birthday, baby girl. My mother and I started watching this channel in early 2020, and at that time I had my nine-year-old Sheltie Lassie. It popped up in my feed because I started being interested in camping, hiking, survival, building, etc. My Lassie passed away in June 2022 from demonic cancer, and I had Sadie a month later, which is a bit too soon due to circumstances that just happened as life does. I once had a retriever such as you, but someone posioned her in 1999 literally in my backyard, and at that time I swore I would never have an outside dog again despite how well they were maintained or housed (my Scottish blood kicked in, and I was ready to do battle; my clan is Wallace, so go figure). A few years went by, and my mother and I were so worried when she had a bout of heatstroke. We are still very happy to see you, and yet we are saddened to see you start to show some age. I don't know what Shawn would do without you. I would love to spend a week up there with your dad, learning, enjoying nature, and helping him get ready for winter. I may not have the building skills, but I know a thing or two about cutting wood, especially anything electrical or computer-related, including video editing and photography, so he could tap my brain on that if he liked. I'm a fast learner, and I will quickly admit when I don't know crap about what I'm doing I'll ask questions. Like the old saying goes, if you don't ask, no matter how stupid, it just shows how stupid you are.
Cali, Although I continue to believe that your family ought to open a restaurant or even a cookbook, the food they appear to prepare is absolutely delicious. I think Emily could even switch to a cooking channel, which may be even more popular.
Once again, happy birthday, baby girl. I'd gladly give you a 24-ounce steak as a token of the joy you have brought to my mother and me, almost like an Easter egg for each video.
