I absolutely adore this channel because of how amazing John describes Japanese culture to the viewer watching his brilliant videos! But it is not the only reason why I love this channel. I really do appreciate the time effort and work he always puts in the videos he makes. This channel makes me feel really happy and relaxed after I watch one of his videos! He really does make learning about Japan informative fun and brilliant! and it is just so entertaining and enjoyable to watch!John if you are reading this please continue to make more incredible informative and passionate videos for years to come and always remember to keep inspiring people to get out there and see Japan. ❤️❤️🇯🇵🇯🇵
You got it Tom! I really love what I do and there is no better feeling than knowing what I worked hard on for a long time is enjoyed by those watching it. That’s why I do it :) no better feeling - except maybe sitting in an Onsen in winter :p 🙃 haha! I really appreciate you taking the time to write me here. Thank you!!
Greetings from chilly Tokyo tonight! Thank you for watching this episode on ONSEN BATHS in Fukushima. What did you think? Leave a comment or question below. Which onsen was your favorite? I used to live in Fukushima and I'm so happy to be able to introduce these onsen to you, share the experience at so many places here! I made this is 6.5 days with the permission and help of the prefecture. It's a place close to my heart. I will have another video on Ryokan stays \ Japanese inns and Kaiseki cuisine in 10 days so definitely subscribe if you haven't already. I have some live streams on the ONLY in JAPAN GO (2nd channel) with behind the scene live streams with the making of this. ua-cam.com/channels/DsvL48jluG3tvlyurB4K3g.html *from mid November 2017. ONLY in JAPAN hey John your videos are really nice and I love them.... I sub too Its my request to you to make more 'food videos'.... They are just really great!!! Ganbatte!!!!!!
Hi John, all onsen looked fantastic, but i must say i fell in love with Shintsuta, the landscape was just great and the colors provided a beautiful frame for a relaxing experience. Btw, I am quite impressed with the drone shots, they were valuable additions to this video, since you not only experience the onsen but also the whole vibe of the different towns. Thanks for this video!
There is NOTHING that tops watching John visit these warm, inviting Japanese onsens on a super cold Minnesota USA winter night! Currently, here it is -10 degrees F (-28 degrees C) outside, with a wind chill of -31 degrees F (-35 degrees C). Dreaming of a warm onsen in Fukushima Prefecture on this cold night! Thanks John!
Only 2 dollars? i mean, i know sometimes japan can be cheap but how the heck they manage with all the job and bills to maintain a place like that? charging only 2 dollars per person...? they include bathrobe and fantastic service, that's incredible to me..
In terms of suppling hot water, yes. However any care takers must keep the bath and surroundings clean for welcoming turrists. It costs a lot, you know.
Mimizook ho-ho Thats what im saying, i get the hot water its free it obviously comes from the ground, and that government helps with taxes, but at 2 dollars price, that's only 600 bucks a month IF 10 people go there Every day, and i doubt they receive ten people every single day nor if they open every single day. So the thing that amaze me is how they can manage to have happy well educated employees and a spotless place with such a low income. What an extraordinary culture...
Hi Hideto, thank you for watching this! The really wasn't anything like this on UA-cam so I was happy to have the chance to make something fun that covered many kinds of baths. When I was editing this, I wanted to go back NOT to film :) I think I will later this year. By the way, I made a 360 VR video of this so you may get a chance to go EVEN DEEPER!! -john
Ah... in which case we need water-proof VR headset so we can warp between the best experiences while staying inside small home bath... Thanks for making all these video programmes and looking forward for new ones:)
even though you said that the cultural videos don't have as many views as your food videos, I still love that you're on youtube to highlight this type of stuff!! excited to put onsen on my vacation list when I visit Japan! Thanks!!

Currently I'm learning japanese. I already finished Hiragana and Katakana. Now I'm learning vocabularies, grammar and Kanji. Next year I'll go to Japan and also do a big Onsen tour. If I watch this video, I feel like missing home. Japan is awesome.
You've mentioned many times on your Only in Japan Go channel about how important the baths and Onsen are to Japan and to Japanese culture and I'm so thankful to you for granting us access to what gives Japanese culture heart and spirit. Following you on your Only in Japan Go channel while you were staying in Fukushima all those days and touring all the bath houses and Onsen in the area has given me a new outlook on the sheer beauty and tranquility that Japan has to offer. By providing the public with such insight, you always enlighten us and make us love Japan more and more. Thank you so much for all your remarkable work.👍❤
Wow! Fukushima is beautiful & I'm sure there are many more onsen you didn't get to. Great to see Miya & Shige again and the 'Little Nell' scenes were just perfect! Great 'clean' start to 2018 John 👏🏾👍🏾♨
Your videos are sooo good. I love the music and the way you share all of these stories about Japanese culture and life through narration and sweet visuals
Watched a lot of this on Only in Japan Go. You did a great job making it in to a video, awesome job. Love the humor and Peter did a great job with his voice, had me laughing.
Loved the video. Thank you for sharing all those onsens, I was so taken in... I felt like I was really there. The warmth from the water, the view. *sighs* so amazing.
Hi John! Nice video! Would be nice to invite Peter next time so you guys could visit his favorite Japan place! Thank you and keep up the good work! 👍🏻☺️
From all of your great videos in this channel, I love this one the most. I soaked in Kinosaki Onsens, and yes, the skin became smoother. I also tried tamago eggs. But in this video, I do feel envy of you and the Japanese. What a blessing: very scenic views and much more attractive onsens!!
All of these Ryokans and their onsen was absolutely beautiful to look at. I hope one day I can afford to stay at one of these places for a couple of nights, I feel that much of my stress would just melt away into the onsen water!
I was sick in bed with some sort of bad bug and couldn’t find any relief until I watched your videos. Especially this one. It was so pleasing, soothing, and relaxing that it made me feel so much better. Thank you for your wonderful Japan 🇯🇵 videos and for helping me relieve me from my ill feeling.

Just how much of Fukushima was affected by the nuclear plant disaster? Were you near that area? Taking a hot bath while the temperature outside is below zero reminds me of the sauna I had available to me in the club house of an apartment complex I lived in in Marlboro Mass. After using the gym, and then the sauna, I'd walk back to my apartment holding my jacket. My body 'absorbed' the heat from the soak in the sauna, and I felt warm wearing just jeans and a tee shirt in the 20 degree (F) air. The Onsen bath must work the same way. What Japanese music did you use in the video background? I love the sound of those traditional string instruments.

Wired Murdoc some hot springs are funded by taxes, so they just charge a couple hundred yen
The water is naturally hot so no heating is required.
If they had a donation box, I wouldn’t mind dropping more in to keep such beautiful place going
