I really hate people pretending that Tai Lung didn't kill a ton of people in the Valley after being told no. It's even sadder that people say the training was what corrupted him when Tigress was trained exactly the sake but without love. The corruption was ambition without humility. Love and ambition aren't bad things but have to be tempered because spoiled prodigies burn villages apparently

But the thing he chased isn't to be a hero but rather have a name for himself and have power over others. That's why he seeked the scroll, he viewed it as a source of power which is also referenced in some parts (where he thought the scroll gave po the power to climb up the breaking building. And take to consideration that after the incident of his rejection, he started breaking so much havoc that he had to be put into the max security prison, and having his arms held by 2 oversized boulders just so he couldn't escape. You can maybe justify his actions for the fact oogway crushed his dream, but i personally think the darkness came ever since tai lung even found out about the dragon scroll.

If there was no darkness, Tai Lung would just make piece with not being the Dragon warrior. He'd be disappointed and angry, but wouldn't take it out on helpless peasants or try to seize the scroll by force. In the end he failed to understand its wisdom.

I actually felt bad for him. His only purpose in life was to achieve the dream to become the greatest warrior. When Oogway rejected him he shattered Tai Lung' dream of achieving it. Of course it's not Oogway's fault but Sifu's because even though he raised him as his son Sifu also groomed him to eventually obtain the role of the Dragon Warrior.
I see a lot of people that have sympathy for Tai-Lung, and thats understandable, but remember, when Tai-Lung didn't get the dragon scroll, he went on a rampage in the valley of peace. Yes, it was wrong for Shifu to promise him something he had no authority to give, but Tai-Lung was shown nothing but love by Shifu, and in turn, when Tai-lung didn't get what he wanted, he decided to use his kung-fu to prey on the weak and defenseless. That's not dragon warrior material.
It's not Oogway's fault. Tai Lung wanted to make shifu proud from the start, but guys, what are the characteristics of a dragon warrior? Do they just want to make someone they love "proud"? Is a Dragon Warrior someone who fights for themselves? Tai Lung had no plans to do any good by becoming a Dragon Warrior. If he did, he probably wouldn't be as determined to do good as Po. The characteristic of a Dragon Warrior is to have a good personality to protect others. But if you ask me, it is really cruel if it's true that in this world, destiny cannot be changed. That hard work can't beat luck or talent. It's like we're trapped in a matrix, unable to get out of the dialog, the activities we do right now. People who are justifying Tai lung's “darkness” are completely missing the point, and are displaying a bit of that darkness themselves tbh. No matter how hard you work towards something, it doesn't make you entitled to it, however and whenever you want it because that's how life is. Tai Lung didn't have patience and faith in the greater good. Just because you have the privilege and honour of dreaming of something (which was offered to him out of luck in the first place, did he ever consider that? How many other cubs were deprived of the honour to even learn from master Shifu? It could have been anyone else) doesn't mean you're entitled to it. And in the pursuit of those dreams, a man often gets selfish and greedy - overlooking why of those pursuits in the first place. They get disconnected with the reality, with the needs of others around who supported them and meant the best for them. How would Poo react if he was in the place of Tai Lung? He'd have the same disappointment yes, same heartbreak. But he would not overstep his boundaries and not forsake respect for his elders. He would probably get into an argument with his masters and run away for a while, grieving and probably munching on cookies. He'd return, calm and at peace with whatever that happened. He'd have never forsaken his gratitude and respect for others around him, even if his honest hardwork was met with disappointment. Sure, you do get to expect returns for your efforts but often you don't get to decide when, and what good would come out of it, if you're no longer pursuing the goal with good intentions? And Master Oogway saw that corrupted, selfish and entitled intentions of Tai Lung. If he truly wanted it, he'd be patient and humble. He'd persist on seeking Master Oogway's counsel in private on how he genuinely improve but that's not the choice Tai Lung made. His lack of patience and gratitude was the darkness. Y'all justifying it shows what most people perceive life to be - maybe most people be treating their elders, parents the same way when their expectations and dreams are met with same disappointment. That's sad. May God help us purify our hearts.

I actually felt bad for him.
His only purpose in life was to achieve the dream to become the greatest warrior.
When Oogway rejected him he shattered Tai Lung' dream of achieving it.
Of course it's not Oogway's fault but Sifu's because even though he raised him as his son Sifu also groomed him to eventually obtain the role of the Dragon Warrior.

I see a lot of people that have sympathy for Tai-Lung, and thats understandable, but remember, when Tai-Lung didn't get the dragon scroll, he went on a rampage in the valley of peace. Yes, it was wrong for Shifu to promise him something he had no authority to give, but Tai-Lung was shown nothing but love by Shifu, and in turn, when Tai-lung didn't get what he wanted, he decided to use his kung-fu to prey on the weak and defenseless. That's not dragon warrior material.

It's not Oogway's fault. Tai Lung wanted to make shifu proud from the start, but guys, what are the characteristics of a dragon warrior? Do they just want to make someone they love "proud"? Is a Dragon Warrior someone who fights for themselves? Tai Lung had no plans to do any good by becoming a Dragon Warrior. If he did, he probably wouldn't be as determined to do good as Po. The characteristic of a Dragon Warrior is to have a good personality to protect others.
But if you ask me, it is really cruel if it's true that in this world, destiny cannot be changed. That hard work can't beat luck or talent. It's like we're trapped in a matrix, unable to get out of the dialog, the activities we do right now. Ok nvm I'm not gonna write my whole paradoxes and thoughts here.

People who are justifying Tai lung's “darkness” are completely missing the point, and are displaying a bit of that darkness themselves tbh. No matter how hard you work towards something, it doesn't make you entitled to it, however and whenever you want it because that's how life is. Tai Lung didn't have patience and faith in the greater good. Just because you have the privilege and honour of dreaming of something (which was offered to him out of luck in the first place, did he ever consider that? How many other cubs were deprived of the honour to even learn from master Shifu? It could have been anyone else) doesn't mean you're entitled to it. And in the pursuit of those dreams, a man often gets selfish and greedy - overlooking why of those pursuits in the first place. They get disconnected with the reality, with the needs of others around who supported them and meant the best for them.
How would Poo react if he was in the place of Tai Lung? He'd have the same disappointment yes, same heartbreak. But he would not overstep his boundaries and not forsake respect for his elders. He would probably get into an argument with his masters and run away for a while, grieving and probably munching on cookies. He'd return, calm and at peace with whatever that happened. He'd have never forsaken his gratitude and respect for others around him, even if his honest hardwork was met with disappointment.
Sure, you do get to expect returns for your efforts but often you don't get to decide when, and what good would come out of it, if you're no longer pursuing the goal with good intentions? And Master Oogway saw that corrupted, selfish and entitled intentions of Tai Lung. If he truly wanted it, he'd be patient and humble. He'd persist on seeking Master Oogway's counsel in private on how he genuinely improve but that's not the choice Tai Lung made.
His lack of patience and gratitude was the darkness. Y'all justifying it shows what most people perceive life to be - maybe most people be treating their elders, parents the same way when their expectations and dreams are met with same disappointment. That's sad. May God help us purify our hearts.

Oogway rejected him because he knew the fact that Tai Lung would literally cause havoc the moment he is rejected. The fact that he wrecked havoc instead of accepting it and trying get better shows how he doesn't deserve it.
Po was disrespected, bullied and told he will never be a dragon warrior, he overcome it and became better and accepted himself.
Tai Lung would never do it hence why he didn't get it, do not blame Oogway for that as that is Tai Lung's flaw.

It's kind of true, even though I believe oogway untapped that darkness within him, he made the right decision to discard him. Because when a person breaks and sees the world in a twisted way, that person is actually dark if tai lung didn't break down at that moment, in future it would have surely happened.

He could have explained Tai Lung "Bro this stupid scroll doesn't contain any supernatural magic, it contains nothing, you wouldn't get it, just chill".
