I really enjoy watching your channel, and watching how you are building your Highlander. I appreciate your attitude, especially in how you credit those that have assisted you. I hope you are finding more time to work on your plane,so you can see your dream become a reality. Keep the good work going Kevin.
Super video update and directly relates to a wing mod I am considering. It appears that you have made you flaps longer, is there an advantage to doing this vs making the flaps wider? To go one step further, what about using a second flap that would attach on the end of the wider main flap, is this what is called and two stage "Fowler " flap as seen on may planes in Alaska? I assume that you will be using VG's on the leading edge of you wind to keep more air moving over the airfoil what the flaps are extended. How far will your flaps extend at full? >35 degrees?
Highlander flaps go to 40 degrees I think. I like to keep my mods simple and somewhat easy for now. In the future I would like to play around with slotted Fowler flaps. I make my flaps 18 inches longer to take up that extra space on the wing and just leave the ailerons the stock length. The highlander has a plain style flap so by making them longer I am making a little bit more drag when they are deployed. They dont increase wing area when deployed like a fowler flap.
Hey Kevin, blew through your build of the Highlander in about an hour and a half. Going down the same road on the build sort of.. How can I get in touch with you about the purchase, build, your experience and skill set? I live about an hour from Just, and do alot of flying out West in Idaho, Montana each year. Thinking about #14
Details on your technique for modifying the leading edges of the stock aileron ribs to Steve Henry's design might be useful to myself down the line, but I'm pretty sure I can "wing it" for myself when the time comes. Other'n that I am keeping up, pulling for you and looking forward to the next installment! Here's to 1000 subs 🍺
Excellent update on the Steve Henry wing extensions, Kevin. Question? is it possible to apply Steve's wing extension if you purchased the kit with the wings "pre- built & set to fuselage" option ? or is the wing extension only an option if you are building the wings yourself? P.s love your attention to detail, watching with great interest. Cheers Glenn - Down Under
I purchased pre built wings and set to the fuselage from the factory. The wing extension just has to be put on before the wing trailing edge is installed. It will work whether the wings are built at the factory or by the builder.
Hi Kevin, did you get some instruction material for the aluminum tank install from JA. The only instruction manual I received was for fiberglass tank. I sent them an email but no response yet.
I was recently in an airplane accident, I am very lucky to be alive and have no permanent injuries. Right now my top priority is to do something I enjoy. I just bought a Piper Pacer a few weeks ago and I am working on becoming an ag pilot. I need to build up a bunch of tailwheel time. The Highlander build will most likely continue this fall and winter. Right now I am too busy with work and flight training.
Kevin Camp you should share you experience. Or not. I hope you are well and can get back at on the build I like seeing the videos. I am glad you are ok.
The turtle deck has to be removed, flap and aileron controls disconnected to flip the control surfaces up, and remove the front wing spar pins. The wings rotate rearwards on the rear spar and lower lift strut bolts.

Those wings are a work of art!
Looking good, Kevin! One step at a time . . . keep plugging away.
Enjoy your videos. They are inspirational. Looks like your doing an excellent job.
Nice workmanship! Would love to own one some day.
Keep up the great work Kevin. Thanks for the video.
Thats one heck of a nice shop?
Looking good! I'm waiting for the Apex part of the build. I'm considering the Apex for my SuperSTOL.
nice work
success
kevin !!! which materials used in on your aircraft ? which aluminum alloys for wings and fuselage and skin ?
Lookin great !

I can include more details on that when it comes time to attach the aileron leading edge to the aileron ribs.
@@kevincamp189 Hooray! Thank you sir.

@@kevincamp189 Thanks Kevin for answering so quickly, will be following your build with interest
Cheers Glenn.
What does Just Aircraft use for Plywood on those wing ribs? Thickness, Ply's, type?
1/4 inch thick 12 ply

Thanks I was just curious if it was the same as my kitfox

I had to contact JA and they sent me the info for the aluminum tanks.
where can I find the drawing plan ? please if any body can help
Kevin what happened to airplane build nothing new to share ?

How do the wings fold back?

Sir. I wanna build a airplane. please give me all guidelines
Just give me this idea 👉 wings size and aileron size. Please give me about it some idea
Show your work as you do it not just finished work
I try to. It takes a lot of extra time while building to film everything.
