She's going to him and trusting him to make a sound decision, since he's the authority on health practices in this scenario. It's an abuse of power, since he knows she believes him. He cares more about her money than her safety, and he's willing to insult her under the guise of "honesty" in order to manipulate her into feeling dependent on him. It's too common and very upsetting.
