Good video buddy, I am mostly 99% confident in rebuilding these motors ,but you sometimes forget the small steps which is why this particular video definitely deserves some credit!
Awesome video. Thanks to this and my service manual i was able to confirm hot rods sent me a crank bearing kit with 2 right side crank bearings with the blue seal on one side when only ONE is suppose to have it. Luckily i caught that, removed the blue seal from the stator side crank bearing and dont have to find out what would have happened!!!!!
Looks like if you aren't replacing the crank, you don't even have to remove it from the left case/bearing and it will slide right out and back into the right crank bearing.
You make the absolute best videos for everything KX 450 related and seeing as my son and i have 2016 and 2017 KX450s like you, you have been an absolute blessing sir. Thank you so much! Can i ask what VP you recommend or run? We dont race motocross only offroad races(amateur and recreational) Thanks in advance
My engine cracked on my 2017, I have bought engine case set off ebay 2nd hand but its 2016, is anything different as I thought the 2017 had more power than the 2016, the top end I have is 2017 but bottom end is 2016
My 17 starting making a noise like somethin was loose inside so I took the side covers off and notice my kick start assembly has a lot of play is that normal?
Im rebuilding my water pump on my 2018 kx450. Wich is the same as your bike. You might know the answer to this question. What is the part # for the o-ring [B] in the inner clutch case removal section of the service manual? I have looked on the parts diagram onine but i cant find it. The service manual says i should replace the o-ring when i reinstall the inner clutch cover, wich ill have to take off to replace the water pump seals, bearings and shaft. But i cant find the part # anywhere. I have almost everything to do the job but a new o-ring. And im the type of guy i dont want to use the old one.
I see the one you’re talking about. It’s that tiny o-ring on the bottom right side of the clutch hub. I remember replacing that let me see if I can find the part number for you really quick.
Give this schematic a look. Find 92055. The O-ring (B) in the service manual is actually the o-ring on the oil pump. Let me know if that’s what you were looking for or if it’s a different one.
It will be similar but have slight differences. The manufacturer usually runs a base model with minor changes for 3-5 years so in this case 2016-2018 then they usually do some big changes to start a new 3-5 year cycle. All of the big stuff remains mostly the same though.

Nifty tool for DIY fork seal replacement. Great idea, thanks for sharing it !!!

Yep that’s right

Thanks! Glad I can help. I run either 110 or T4. They run fine in a stock bike without having to remap.
Top shelf video! Great work!
If you put the crank in the freezer for 30 mins it slides right into the main bearing.

Does anything hold the oil pump gear on? Or does it just sit in place
Que tipos de rodamientos lleva el cigüeñal ? Sirven unos c4 ?

Quick question so I keep seeing the torque specs for the head bolts are 44 ft lbs and other videos they are saying 14 which doesn’t sound right lol
Yeah dude you’re right head bolts are definitely 44 ft lbs lol
