Another interesting fact is that Marquesas is the only season not to air on Australian television. They aired the first season of Australian Survivor instead and it was a huge flop. It took around 15 years for Aus Survivor to return. Channel 9 (the TV station with rights to air US survivor in Aus) promised to air Marquesas after Aus survivor but chose not to after bad viewing of their first national competition. Eventually the next year they canned Aus survivor and just went straight to Thailand. Every season after that aired. They paused for a year or two after Micronesia as Channel 9 had no HD service yet. Once they created an HD channel called 'GO' they aired Gabon and Tocantins back to back and then caught up when Samoa was live.
The algorithm served your channel up on a platter and I love it. I've missed a few seasons here and there since I started watching it properly in season 2, it's such a trip to see it all broken down like this.
I'm genuinely surprised you don't get more views or subscribers. I fall asleep to your videos a lot just because they are comfortable but not overbearing but also like a nice bedtime story.

This season started with so much potential. It felt like the quintessential Survivor with every player being a cliche character, in a good way. Once Rob left the only interesting character left was Sean and every episode got more and more boring aside from the blindside of John who made a decent villain.
The first “good” season. At least in my opinion. Indicated by the fact this is the first season with a final 2 that had two people from different starting tribes
That seems like a very random and arbitrary reason to think this season is Good. I suppose you think Worlds Apart is Good too, cause all three finalists were from each of the different tribes?
I always cringe when players credit “god” for their success. I’m much more impressed when players find their strength from within. Like Richard, Denise, Natalie, Tyson, Rob...
For Christians it is that God made everyone and everything so while the players succeeded or failed through their actions, nothing happened without Him making everything.
@@OnceUponAnIsland it’s clearly what you believe given your commentary. I’m not so much picking on them for their beliefs as I am the belief itself. Obviously there are going to be religious people playing the game. The United States is majority Christian after all, so it’s inevitable. It’s definitely part of the human experiment that is Survivor. I particularly liked when Rob split up Matt and Andrea specifically because of their bond with Christianity. It’s a prime example of someone taking their fate in their own hands. To me, it’s way more impressive when players credit themselves for the strategy that let to their success instead of an invisible third party. That being said, I love your videos and your humorous quips. Definitely the funniest Survivor UA-camr. And these surprising secrets vids are a big hit! @@TheDizzleHawke The way I see it, there is always a fair amount of Luck involved in just about every single season. No matter how much you think that a certain player made it to the end on their own merits, they still probably just plain got lucky. Case and point, despite Richard Hatch basically creating the entire foundation of how to play the game and clearly was the best strategist, he still only won against Kelly because he picked the right number between 1 and 10. Point I'm trying to make is, and I say this being an aiithiest myself, I really don't see anything wrong with people thanking Jesus for their good fortune, especially if their faith is the inherent source of their inner strength. Vecepia and Neliah got a lot of flack from the Jury about all their praying, but it's not like they ever used it to put themselves on a pedestal or actually claim to be hollier than the others. It was simply a personal thing they did to cope with the pressure of the game and surviving the island. Some people do yoga. Some pray. It's just what they do. Survivor South Pacific had more religious talk than any other season. Cringy as it may have been, the winner, Sophie, didn't actually believe in any of it. But she went along with it cause it was the caveat that rallied and united the Upolu tribe and kept everyone focused and in line, AND IT WORKED.
