【Mikuni Izu Kogen】 The best restaurant filled with the passion of Seizo Mikuni and Kengo Kuma.

  • On my trip to Izu in November 2023, I visited Mikuni Izu Kogen, the restaurant of Chef Seizo Mikuni, the master of the Japanese French cuisine world, for lunch on the first day.
    We enjoyed Mediterranean cuisine that can only be tasted in Izu Kogen, which focuses on local production for local consumption.
    Furthermore, the building was designed by the architectural master Kengo Kuma, so it can be said that this is a one-of-a-kind restaurant created in collaboration between two world-famous figures.
    Every time I get off at Izu Kogen Station, I have always wanted to eat there at least once, and now my dream has finally come true.
    When I made my reservation, I ordered the "Marriage of Sea and Earth" menu for 10,890 yen,
    It was a course meal using vegetables and fish caught in Shizuoka and Izu.
    The course consisted of five dishes, which I feared might not be enough if it were elegant and small, but it was no problem as the volume of each dish was quite solid.
    Of course, the taste was perfect, and Mikuni's attention to detail and sense of style shone through in many places.
    The food was wonderful, but the location was the best of all, and the view from the spacious and liberating restaurant made for a wonderful time.
    It was truly a restaurant that delighted all five senses.
    There was also terrace seating, so I hope to return during the warmer season.
    Coco was in a good mood from start to finish while being healed by the heartwarming service.
    It was a great start to our Izu trip.

      お洒落な、しかも初めて聞く素材や料理の名前オンパレードでした。
      繊細かつ洗練されたランチでございました😚
      ちょっと背伸びして、おすましてして食べようとしましたが、いつも通りに楽しい感じのランチになりました。
      白子美味しかったです。
      タックさんのお酒も進んでましたよ😁
