INAV lua script can do a lot what FM2M can do, it is free. despite its name, it works with betaflight. I made some some local modification to make it work with ardupilot, it is more light-weight than more commonly used yapoo scripts.
I like the GPS widget and the INAV lua, which also works with betaflight. Either let you know once enough satellites have been acquired and will give last coordinates in case of a crash. Just punch them into Google maps and off you go. FM2TM looks worth checking out too. Didn't realize it did all that.

Thanks Joshua for everything. 5yrs ago when I bought my first quad( eachine wizard) I couldn't get it to arm for 3 months. After I found your videos, I have flown, and continued to really love fpv to this day. You saved me (and the wizard from the bin). I Appreciate that a lot.
JB- I really appreciate that you can “ dumb it down” for those of us who are not really up to speed on loading new sub programs to computer run electronics. Step by step ( the visual part is a winner! ) as each click or paste can cause the function to not be available. Wonderful explanation. I definitely learned something tonight!
When I first started FPV, it seemed everyone was using Lua scripts. Then Cleanflight went to Betaflight and it seemed people kinda stopped using Lua. After seeing your video the other day and doing the PID tune with the radio, I was amazed at how far its come. Definitely want to educate myself more on them.
@@-exeCy- At first, yes. But with more understanding of tuning, I learned that the sliders only get you close. By moving sliders only, you may not be able to get the numbers you want.
It’s worth setting your clock on the radio because the background script for betaflight can pass this info to your FC and it will date and time your black box files.
Also OSD date and time should work if you don't have GPS for time. It would be cool if time can be passed from the drone with GPS since it's more accurate.
The Betaflight script is worth the price of admission. But I also bought FM2M and I totally love it, especially for the battery level indicator and low-battery beeps when I'm flying LOS.
Friendly feedback from somebody who's just starting to learn about all this fpv technology... I wish the beginning had started by explaining what capability these scripts will bring to the radio. If somebody isn't interested in what they can do there's no reason to watch the video. About halfway through I got frustrated not knowing what I would be able to do with these scripts... For example if this was a tutorial on how to install these scripts on your car computer you would want to first know how this will improve your car. If it's something that makes the radio louder, activates the electric hook up for a trailer or enables the inverter to produce 220 volts, those features will be irrelevant to some people.
Well these scripts enable you to change quad settings WITHOUT connecting the quad to a PC - you can make these changes on your radio itself, by running the necessary script. Say for example, you want to change your VTX power or channel, or you wanted to adjust your P Term or Roll Axis rates, you can do that, through your radio, IN THE FIELD without going home or using a laptop to get into your quad settings - which is a very powerful tool to have access to. If you don't need this now, trust me, you will appreciate it in the near future when you are out flying. I hope this helps :)
I learned just enough to get a couple different quads in the air with my new radiomaster 16s and that hurt my brain. Haven't learned anything else about the radio since. Why I am watching now I know there is a ton more to learn about this radio. Time to try to learn some more again.

I never understand this type of argument. Your TX16S can do all this extra stuff like lua scripts and so forth, but nobody is forcing you to do it. If you just want to have out of the box functionality and never upgrade it, you can do that.
If it wasn't for the lua script ability to configure my flight controller easily, I'd spend more time on the ground with a laptop to do anything when I can do it easily through my radio. Guess who's flying more then?

TBS Agent Lite seems to work fine.... The pay one that you showed @ the end looks very sleek....I wanted to see if the touchscreen would let you cycle through each cells voltage (bottom right)......Makes me think about upgrading my radio.....
OK - If anyone has a similar issue - heres what the issue was: In my VTX settings in BF - I had "low power disarm" set to "until first arm". So now - in BF LUA script, I would change the power, and it would say "RETRYING" and in my goggles there wasn't any power change in VTX. So.... After initial arming, not only does the "RETRYING" go away upon trying to save the settings, but everything works as expected now :)
Hey Joshua, I just setup my transmitter(open TX)to give me voice cues when I hit certain switches. This way I can know my xfire mode and rssi without looking by hitting the three way switch. Have you addressed this in any of your videos?
Hi all. Tell me, is it possible to activate the BLE Joystick with a script for a model or assign a switch to the BLE Joystick function of the ERLS script?
I seem to be having an issue setting this up: Ive set up lua scripts perfectly before, and they work on my other fpv drones. Last week, i decided to revive an ancient build, and flashed the latest FW for all equipment. Getting telemetry set up, I get an error saying "waiting for API version". The build is as follows: Dys f4 pro flight controller, BF 4.3.1 Frsky XSR(yes, XSR not R-XSR.. this thing is ancient) FW 2.1.0 FCC. Running uninverted s port hack Kiss 24a race ESC Rotor riot hypetrain 2306 motors Caddx vista + nebula pro Taranis X LITE Pro, ISRM 2.1.6(also tried with 2.1.0) BF lua script 1.6.0 Ive set up everything properly over smartport as I AM getting telemtry. Not really sure where to go with this. Any help appreciated!
Try "delete all sensors" then "discover new sensors". Make sure you are getting FC-based sensors like VFAS, ACCX, ACCY, ACCZ etc. If not, then smartport is not actually working and that would explain it.
This is a great help,, but can I reorganize the LUA scripts on the Tools screen? My Radiomaster Zorro (ELRS) came with a lot of LUA scripts pre-loaded. So, when I added BetaFlight LUA it is all the way at the bottom. Many of these others don't seem to apply to my ELRS version (Graupner HoTT, MultiLOLI, FrSky, TBSAgent, pidDSM, etc.) so I may just need to delete them if there's no way to customize the list.
Personally I just delete those ones I never use. There is a way to re-arrange the scripts I think by changing the timestamp of the file but I can't remember the exact steps.
Great - I love the idea of having a the BF lua and quickly installed it, connected a quad and... the script gets stuck on 'downloading board info'.... Tried it on 3 other quads with the same result... I have Edge TX v2.6.0 and run ELRS 2.0, both on the TX (Namimno v2) and the RXs (different manufacturers)
If using the nightly version, you need at least elrs 2.0.1 for it to work with 4.3 and 4.2.9(was a bug in 4.2.8) and up. The betaflight lua scripts are backwards compatible and will work with previous versions of betaflight as long as the requirementes detailed in the README for the lua scripts are met, so I would recommend using the latest version of the lua scripts. The latest nightly build is likely what will be released as version 1.6.0
@@JoshuaBardwell thanks Joshua - I've got BF 4.3. I hope @klutvott123 is right and it's ELRS which needs to be updated on my TX module and the RXs for the script to work correctly
this is a silly question but since i installed the betaflight folder on my tx16s it will only open if the quad is plugged in correct mine just says initializing because i'm not really trying to change any actually settings yet ? the first time i opened it up the the tools menu on the radio it looked like it ran thru all the files {lua} and then in went into initializing . the reason i don't want to open it is because i used the beta 4.26 to set it up i haven't migrated to the 4.3 the versions always get me confused. thank you for your time....
Hi Joshua I just got into fpv I bought an arris RTF I flew it a couple times and I crashed it resulting in the prop hitting my arm esc. I bought the exact same esc to replace it and it still won't spin the motor if you can message me and help I would appreciate it alot I'm not sure what to do now
Due to your video I took a pro version of the fm2m Lua script and I like it. I don’t know what radio mode does though. I have set my radio up as mode 1 and it does not seem to change anything when altered. Do you know if it is functional?
Using Ghost and EdgeTX couldnt make the betaflight lua to work. It is saying Telemetry not supported. Edgetx latest nightly BF Lua latest nightly Ghost selected at 250 All telemetry sensors discovered (can see data incoming) am I doing something wrong? Or might it be just becouse I havent attached the telemetry pin on the ghost receiver to the FC ?
Ghost T (telemetry) pin is for Tramp Telemetry connection to a vTX. It has nothing to do with this type of telemetry. Ghost carries FC-based telemetry over the regular signal wire. Are you using BF 4.3 and GHST protocol? If you're using anything else like SBUS or SRXL2, then you don't have telemetry between the receiver and the FC. Also, remember that some Ghost modes like PureRace don't have telemetry support at all.
@@JoshuaBardwell I am using Ghost protocol in BF 4.3 r5 and on Race mode on Ghost transmitter. I will try to reinstall the Lua and see if it does the trick.
I just ran into the same error and I'm 100% sure my script is set up right etc. I'm sorry to say, I think GHST telemetry is just not supported by the script.
There are two things Telemetry and MSP. Telemetry is “read only” while MSP allows to change FC settings. MSP support in BF for Ghost protocol was added quite recently. Check if you have lastest Ghost firmware. If it still doesn’t work it may be a bug in BF script. Btw ‚no telemetry’ is little confusing it terms of error message info as BF script uses MSP to communicate with FC via module. So you can have all Ghost telemetry sensors visible but if MSP is not working you won’t be able to change anything in FC.
Love your videos, Bardwell. If you would accept a constructive comment, I think the video quality has been a little strange lately. Maybe you're using some kind of HDR feature (or excessive sharpening), which makes for a somewhat artificial look. If that's the case, I believe that you would benefit more from a better front lighting setup. Keep up the great work!
If I use BF 4.3 on my quads, are the latest official BF lua scripts supposed to work with it? Or, do I have to use the BF nightly builds? I've been unable to use the BF lua scripts since I upgraded=P EDIT: I use Tango 2. Are the nightly Luas compatible?
I know this is an older vid but if someone could help I would appreciate. Is there anything I can do about not enough memory syntax error on my x9d+ (other than buying a new radio) I will get the Radio Master soon, but for now I can't run Lua Scipts on my Taranis is there a work around to get them to run? I guess the new luas are bigger files and Taranis just doesn't have memory capacity to run them.
haven’t gotten around to flashing edge tx mr bardwell, It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
When I drag the files to my radio, it says that the files are alredy there, and asks if I want to replace the existing files or skip the step and essentially have two SCRIPTS an SOUNDS folders. What should I do?
@@JoshuaBardwell Thanks for the help and the great vid! Got it working, but I cant seem to be able to change my rate profiles. If I sellect a different rate profile and save the page, it jumps back to the previous profile. Is that common or have I just messed something up? This happens when I try to change it through Smart Audio as well.
No. It means it's not working. Usually this means you haven't downloaded the latest version and it's not compatible with the version of OpenTX you're using, or with the version of Betaflight on your quad.
There is a Ghost Widget that can be used to configure it. But Ghost has a lot fewer configuration options than Crossfire, and mostly you configure it using the screen on back of the module.
@@isaacpry6363 "discover new sensors". Could also be a well known RX firmware bug that Frsky that prevents MSP over telemetry from working properly. They keep fixing and reimplementing it.
Right now, GHST is not supported by Betaflight lua script. And I don't know what Lua scripts KISS might or might not support, but I don't know of any off the top of my head.

Wasn't there a LUA that listed out all the stick commands to enter control menus and shortcuts that you mentioned sometime back?
That's FM2M shown in this video.
What pop filter is on your mic? Got an affiliate link for that? ;)
I seem to be having an issue setting this up:
Ive set up lua scripts perfectly before, and they work on my other fpv drones. Last week, i decided to revive an ancient build, and flashed the latest FW for all equipment. Getting telemetry set up, I get an error saying "waiting for API version". The build is as follows:
Dys f4 pro flight controller, BF 4.3.1
Frsky XSR(yes, XSR not R-XSR.. this thing is ancient) FW 2.1.0 FCC. Running uninverted s port hack
Kiss 24a race ESC
Rotor riot hypetrain 2306 motors
Caddx vista + nebula pro
Taranis X LITE Pro, ISRM 2.1.6(also tried with 2.1.0)
BF lua script 1.6.0
Ive set up everything properly over smartport as I AM getting telemtry.
@@JoshuaBardwell Yes, deleting was just easier since I only use a couple. Thanks!
Oh, and it looks like it's the sequence order of how they get loaded on the SD Card. Individual file dates don't matter.
Great video as always. Does betaflight lua works on freedom tx on tango 2?
Did you get it to work?
@@chrishiggins7475 no it doesn't work.
When I try to run the betaflight Lua it tells me "waiting for api version" and won't work.
Is it possible to male FM2M a default view on the radio - just to not run this Lua manually every time I turn on the radio?
What if running Betaflight setup simply gets stuck on Downloading VTX tables? How long should that hang for?
Great stuff. Cheers.
If running BF 4.3 then you need the nightly Lua script. If running BF 4.2 you need the regular one.
@@klutvott1232 Thanks - it looks like I need to upgrade the ELRS on my whole fleet... It's a rainy day today, so I may as well do it. Thanks!
Followed all the steps for Betaflight lua but screen gets stuck on "Betaflight config - initialising" any ideads?
What about Ghost LUA setup? Is there one that has the cool interface like ELRS? The only Ghost LUA I've found is a bit hokey!
Ghost has a screen on every module so not as much work has gone into the Lua script.
This setting allows for example to show correct Sticks Commands. Once you switch radio mode sticks positions are different.
Does FM2M support Arducopter? Thanks.
do i need luascript for the tool box or will it work without it
Using Ghost and EdgeTX couldnt make the betaflight lua to work. It is saying Telemetry not supported.
Edgetx latest nightly
BF Lua latest nightly
Ghost selected at 250
All telemetry sensors discovered (can see data incoming)
am I doing something wrong?
@@JoshuaBardwell ahh :( thanks for trying.
So you can have all Ghost telemetry sensors visible but if MSP is not working you won’t be able to change anything in FC.
i dont have telmetry on my rdiomaster , will the toolbox work on it
Love your videos, Bardwell.
I've been unable to use the BF lua scripts since I upgraded=P
EDIT: I use Tango 2. Are the nightly Luas compatible?
...aand you answered this in the video.
what gimbal stick ends are those?

I know this is an older vid but if someone could help I would appreciate. Is there anything I can do about not enough memory syntax error on my x9d+ (other than buying a new radio) I will get the Radio Master soon, but for now I can't run Lua Scipts on my Taranis is there a work around to get them to run? I guess the new luas are bigger files and Taranis just doesn't have memory capacity to run them.
How long does it take to detect the betaflight lua script on the radio
This is sooo usefull. Thank you.
haven’t gotten around to flashing edge tx mr bardwell, It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
When I drag the files to my radio, it says that the files are alredy there, and asks if I want to replace the existing files or skip the step and essentially have two SCRIPTS an SOUNDS folders. What should I do?
Yes you want to replace them
@@JoshuaBardwell Thanks for the help and the great vid! Got it working, but I cant seem to be able to change my rate profiles. If I sellect a different rate profile and save the page, it jumps back to the previous profile. Is that common or have I just messed something up? This happens when I try to change it through Smart Audio as well.
Hi, If on the TX the script is stuck on Betaflight Initialising for a very long time.. does that mean it hasn't worked ? Thanks.
No. It means it's not working. Usually this means you haven't downloaded the latest version and it's not compatible with the version of OpenTX you're using, or with the version of Betaflight on your quad.
The BF script is great but does not work with the 4-in-1 multi-module in the TX16S
Isn’t he using a 4-1 tx16s in the video
@@josephlanza6810 not if he's using an external crossfire or ELRS module
Thanks!
Will the fm2m work with inav?
I got a new betaflight FC and its reporting battery telemetry as a percentage. How do you switch that back to actual volts?
In the OSD tab, change the element that it's displaying. Battery volts and battery % are separate OSD elements.
@@JoshuaBardwell I mean the ERLS telemetry. The OSD is fine, but ELRS telemetry is battery percentage for some reason.
Is the betaflight nightly lua compagible with tango2? Cause The latest 1.5 is not…
yes
Best radiomaster pocket lua scripts?
Can you make an video more detailed how install it
Thus is the detailed video 😊
@@JoshuaBardwell I'm sorry I'm taking abou the f2m2 lua I'm still lost
I'd love to find the BF config tool script for iNav. Anyone know if one exists?
Is there an easy way to remove my old versions of the betaflight and tbs agent light Lua's ?
No, unfortunately. You can delete the Lua file which will remove it from your toolseni but there may be other leftover files sitting around.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thanks for all your help over the years. Much appreciated.
This video, this one right here is why I’m becoming a Patreon member. Lol I want a BBQ sandwich lol.
Thank you!
Ok thanks Joshy
Does ghost has something like TBS agent Lite?
There is a Ghost Widget that can be used to configure it. But Ghost has a lot fewer configuration options than Crossfire, and mostly you configure it using the screen on back of the module.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thank you Joshua
Does it matter if your using Edge TX?
Most Lua scripts are compatible with both.
Yaapu telemetry is a very good script for Ardupilot
Does dsm have telemetry?
DSM does not. SRXL2 does.
Thanks
thats weird i have a rsxr and it shows no telemetry. Anysuggestions?
When you bind, you have the option to select telemetry on or telemetry off. If you select off, you won't get any telemetry at all not even RSSI.
@@JoshuaBardwell thanks that fixed it now when I run it it says looking for api and I have my kwad plugged in
@@isaacpry6363 "discover new sensors". Could also be a well known RX firmware bug that Frsky that prevents MSP over telemetry from working properly. They keep fixing and reimplementing it.
how would i use LUA scripts with the ghost protocol and kiss
Right now, GHST is not supported by Betaflight lua script. And I don't know what Lua scripts KISS might or might not support, but I don't know of any off the top of my head.
@@JoshuaBardwell copy that thank you sir, I'm learning that it may not be possible but I think I can just tune my pids using dji goggles not how I like but its better then brining a laptop to the field and plugging in all the time pain in my a$$ lol
can it work in freedom TX / tbs mambo ?
Yes it's the same.
@@JoshuaBardwell thank you sir ...
does this still work
This guy wants $5 for his FM2M lua script? Really? What do you say?
Five dollars 💸 is much too steep. I'm not totally apposed to the notion of paying a small charge. This is purely hyperthetical since I don't own a T-16s yet.
If he created the script from the zero, without using any open source code... No issues at all. But I wouldn't buy either way.
@@MCsCreations What in the Programming Paradigm are you on about..? 🧐
@@wearemany73 Sorry, I didn't get it. 😬
What do you mean?
It looks cool, and I'm a sucker for a pretty graphical interface, but I know for a fact, I just wouldn't use it. The BF and Agent lite, on the other hand, I already use constantly. I'm sure it'll be valuable to some peeps.
You should do some videos on ardupilot 😭
