@@skeetskeet9433 I think he meant elite role players not elite players. I wouldn’t call PJ & Lively elite roll players, but they’re really good role players. Problem is Boston has 3 fringe all stars & 3 elite role players lol. I started religiously watching NBA in 2010, and this Boston team is probably the 2nd best team I’ve seen behind the KD warriors. When your 4th and 5th options are Jrue Holiday & Derrick White, you can get away with not having a superstar. Celtics don’t have a superstar as imo Tatum & Brown aren’t top 5 guys, but they have no weak link in the starting 5 or really the top 6 with Horford off the bench. Mavs could win a title if they got matched up with a normal eastern champ but not against Boston. Mavs would’ve beat the Heat team last year, prolly beat the 2022 Celtics, maybe the 2021 bucks although they were really good too, point is Mavs have a championship roster but so did the rockets in 2018, but when you run into a buzz saw like the 24 Celtics you’re not winning it all lmao

Well after butler averaged about 36.5-37 on him last season as a bucks fan it’s quite hard for me to say he’s the best defensive guard in the league. Watched butler back him down and get fouls and floaters all day long. He’s an elite defensive guard, however I believe his sole 1 on 1 capabilities are a bit overstated honestly. With that being said, he likely does have the best defensive instincts in the entire NBA as he’s won multiple games through defense which is just insanely impressive

A big 3 should be defined as 3 max level players. They don’t necessarily all have to be making the max at the same time, but should be at that level talent/stature wise.
Therefore it’s the league which has killed the big 3 with their luxury cap tax system. It makes extremely difficult for teams to fill out a good roster around 3 max players. That’s what we’re seeing with the Suns.

It's not the Suns that destroyed the "Big 3" builds. It's the new salary cap penalty that comes into effect next year. Not many people are gonna want to be way over the salary cap with how expensive the luxery tax is going to be starting next year. This is (hopefully) a big win for small markets. The only thing I'm afraid of is the Lakers looking at this as an (expensive) opportunity. I'm afraid the Lakers might go way over the Luxery tax just because they can and no one else except maybe the Knicks could possibly match them.

The media has convinced people that names equal game. And if you don't have a big name, that means you don't had be a big game.
Jrue holiday sacrificed what he could have done anywhere else, so that they could win a chip. Kris Middleton was LITERALLY their closer for YEARS. And Giannis was just all out great. I'm convinced the media is ONLY for novice basketball guys who don't really understand basketball

@@papapear3540that big NETs team with Kai, KD and harden at the time was extremely unhealthy. Harden wasn't fit at the time. Kyrie with all the issues his facing at the time. KD with the burden of proving that he doesn't need GS and putting the team on his back at time because of serious injuries with Kai and harden. They both got injured indefinitely stopping them from playing the whole season. Plus they didn't have a main Coach or assistant. Their bench wasn't good either and yet they made it the playoffs and almost won against a more so healthy and younger bucks team at the time. That team would have rings if most or all things pan out for them in the end which it didn't. Which is why it failed.

Two superstars and good role players would bring some people who stopped watching back to the tv screen. Good competition beat glits and glamour of a superteam. When NBC gets it back i know they're going to add grit back to the game. Different networks have different philosophies on how they want to market the league when its on their stations.

According to me, big 3 is when 3 elite level players are on same team with none or 1(maybe 2) being drafted by the same team.
Tbh, every big 3 excluding the Miami Heat has failed. Heat and Spo should be given props because nowadays big 3 is a recipe of disaster. Simply look at Suns.
