Fascinating.....slow build up but paved the way for a better understanding of the final piece. Thanks for Taking the time to pull this together as it must have involved a fair bit of work!
Fantastic job, very thorough! The piece at the end was worth waiting for. (I feel like this analog auto phrase response stuff is what every guitarist who gets into modular envisions happening to them relatively effortlessly… its very cool to see it actually happening for real and see the possibilities and limitations)
I know the people locally that own the original case and saw it performed a few months ago. Do you know if they have worked with the folks who own it to help design the module?
Oh wow!!! Was the performance in Philadelphia? And what instrument was used when they played with it? I believe the story is David Kean owned the original system for a time, then commissioned Don Buchla to build a new version in 2002, and sometime later sold the original system to EMEAPP. The MEMS guys have not had a chance to see the original module/system, but they did have access to the 2002 version in order to build this recreation.
Ah very cool! Yes the performance was in Philadelphia, a performer used a clarinet through a microphone for the first set, and then Anne played the electric cello built by Don through it was pretty awesome

You’re totally right about this. It feels magical when it matches the length of my phrases when I’m playing with it.
