- Back in Tauranga city for a group ride with the dogs! 2 Enfield 650s and 2 Triumph speed twins go head to head in an action packed group ride! lots of fun and antics to be had on this one! I ride my Conti GT as well as one of the speed twins and the interceptor so we get to see from all perspectives!

I love how you admire your Dad and just keep talking about him. I’m 31 now lost my dad at 22 have not got to ride with him for that time now like yourself I am passionate for riding, so nice to see a young guy admiring his father, one day my 7 year old son will ride with me and we will have that wonderful relationship. Like you with your dad and I had with mine. Lovely to see.

That was a blast Vinnie. Glad you enjoyed the speedy. Loved the blast on your GT, you never get tired of that RE 650 sound. The triumph definitely isn't twice the fun, but it is a refined beast. The RE feels like you've stepped back in time, it feels like you're more involved with the bike...and oh that sound. Great to catch up, hopefully you'll be up at Christmas.

The main reason is that the Thruxton has more horse power and a bigger engine. I wanna go faster. The question is: There´s really a diference between them? I mean, a significant diference? Gday mate! Yes there is quite a difference power wise and youll find the thruxton being able to accelerate alot faster so if thats what you want go for it!

It is a scientific fact that an Enfield travelling at 50 mph can easily keep up with a Triumph travelling at 50 mph.
Thats it mate 🤣 obviously the triumph is faster but not really in real world conditions
how did the thruxton feel compared to the int? is it much more fun to ride and more powerful?
Alot more powerful but not double the fun if you know what I mean. Depends on what type of rider you are. Ive ridden some of the most powerful bikes in the world and I still think the Interceptor is one of the most fun bikes to ride!
For the price (or dollar per fun), hard to beat the RE interceptor. I bought one over the T100 because of the much lower price. I had it a little over 3 years before going adventure bike, but never regretted buying the RE, real fun. As I am going to do longer rides, wanted something with a bigger windscreen, heated grips and cruise control. Have to say the 1000s of Triumph will be quicker though.
Yup triumph definately makes more power but yes dollar per fun is right on point with the RE

Wicked group ride Vinny, it was a trip, a trip down memory lane for me personally.
I grew up living in TePuke, Paengaroa, and Okere Falls too, so seeing you riding those roads was a blast from my past bro.
I haven't been back there for many years, some things never change aye. Although I notice a few things had, but not much.
Roads like you find on that ride like that are something I really missed when I moved to Australia. Some roads here in Indonesia are a bit like back home but can't quite compare with that scenery.
Love the bikes, especially the RE 650 Interceptor on the value for money factor, you cant beat em.
Sure the Trumpy 1200 Speed Twin is the bomb if ya got deep enough pockets, but I reckon no more fun at the price.
Your commentary is uniquely got that Kiwi way and your genuine love shines through on your channel. Keep the rubber side down and don't be a clown, follow ya old man's lead and style, trust me, you'll live to ride a lot longer than some.

Actually i have continental gt 650 and also truimph speedmaster 1200.,
But truimph foodpegs vibrates like a hell after 4000 rpm ,despite having the same engine as in truimph speed twin,i dont know the reason behind this...

So Vinny the Speedtwin is twice the price of the Interceptor. I haven’t ridden one but I’d assume it’s also twice the bike eh? What do you think?
Its a better performing bike very nice to ride but not twice the bike i would only buy it if i had boat loads of money to spare, the enfield is well worth 11k i cant say the same about the speed twin at 23k unless money wasnt an issue

Certified on a Honda Monkey, the fastest bike I had ever ridden at the time. Just bought a RE INT650 last month and am 400 miles in. I am obsessed. Watching your zeal as you ride the Royal Enfields mirrors my inner young man as I'm riding down the street. Keep up the amazing channel - you've got a fan here. Here's what I think about Vinny's channel RoadBlastMedia. It's not purely a bike channel he has, tru his personality, created a kinda club where subscribers become mates and communicate with the channel and within the channel, discussing issues such as motorcycle problems, general banter, best lamb shanks and just taking the piss. This became apparent to me with the genuine concern shown when one member gets hurt, take a bow RR and leave those nurses alone. This is not a channel it's a club and one I'm happy to belong to. Well done Vinny.

Yeah mate thats not a bad bike what about a CF MOTO CLX 700? Similar heritage styling and its cheaper than an inty but has alot more power

I ride with a mate here who has a 1200 speed twin as well , I have ridden it a few times , yes plenty of grunt but lacks the soul of my Interceptor , he loves riding my RE , and when I jump back on mine it only takes a few km's to get back into the RE groove , as you found out .
The local RE dealer I visited on Friday said the same thing , they can't keep up with demand of the 650's ,, great bikes !.

So many riders are like "you have to have 1800cc to be safe on the highway". When really almost any bike is capable of doing non track racing rides. Just paying for CCs you'll never use. We're all going 65, even my Meteor can do that all day. If we need to go 90 or 100 on the group ride I'm riding solo anyway

... there's no need to shout ! I own an Interceptor, but there is so much work to do to bring them to a good standard ... what comes from the factory is, sorry to say, not really worth the money. My first bike in 1976 was a Redditch bult Constellation 700 from 1959. This was a much better bike. Ive rode a few 100.000 of kilometres on two wheels since I've started in 1976, most on 4-cilinders with around 100 PS or more. The 650 would be my last bike in that life ... and they is what I've awaited ... but not more
I have fun on them. Exhausts and an air filter upgrade was all i found it needed ive ridden much better specced and more powerful bikes. I still love these enfields to bits. Always fun to take out for a good old fasioned thrash

In the real world yes but the speed twin is much faster but also double the price and i dont think its double the bike
I have a UK 2022 interceptor and loved your comments from 19:34 onwards as they describe the bike perfectly and what they are like to own, they get into your heart very quickly, you just fall in love with them and just cherish every fun ride, especially when you put loud cans on them (i have UK made Maxtorque), jeez those eargasms 🤣

Recently chanced upon your videos and just wanted to say - please keep up the amazing content! I have my sights set on an interceptor/speed twin 900/1200 and the stuff on your channel is awesome. The triumphs are a beauty, but for real world usage (especially in an urban environment as a commuter) I reckon the RE 650s are tough to beat.

Kiwi on a modern classic bike? That’s gotta be an instant like and subs. I must say, I was surprised that you thought the SV650 had better handling. I just bought an Interceptor 650 and the first thing, apart from the torque), that I thought was that the handling was fantastic. Only beaten by a T100.
The SV does handle better mate theres no denying that. Thats not to say the royal enfield handles badly it handles very well! Especially for a classic styled bike. The problem with the SV is although its faster and handles better it has no charm to it its a very bread and butter motorcycle so i would take an enfield any day over it! Add a decent front fork brace and you'll notice the difference. Equals my Triumph in the handling dept and beats my Harley hands down.
Great video boy, I honestly believe Royal HAVE to develop an interceptor/ gt 1200 in order to make noise within the big classic ones,(bonny,speed twin,Ninet, kawas z, honda CB etc ) of course keeping the same balance between quality and price , it would be so interesting , kindest regards from Argentina!

Yeah have to agree with Vinnie on this. I had the Bakers Express shown on some of Vinnie's earlier videos, now own the Speed Twin Vinnie rode on this one. It was good to do a swap so I got to ride the GT. I've gotta say, I had a real blast on Vinnie's GT on the 40km or so to Rotoiti. The Interceptor and Speed Twin are actually similar riding positions with the triumph being a bit sportier. Definitely sportier handling and a whole lot more grunt, double the hp and torque. But the interceptor will make you grin from ear to ear as you can really wring its neck without getting into too much trouble but will be more than capable for our roads. It can tour as well as it has a fairly comfortable riding triangle and easy to stand on the pegs to stretch the legs. I did a couple of small 3 day tours on the RE, just strap on some luggage to the seat and you're sweet as. Even does gravel roads ok, almost scrambler like. Saying that, I love the speedy, but I also love running with the RE boys as we truly have a blast when we get together...remember there are still speed limits to keep in mind, so really it's all about what buzz you're after. NB, while the bikes were parked up at the cafe, I think it was the RE's that got the most attention.
Triumph make modern bikes with retro touches, RE make retro bikes with modern touches.

What is the break in period for RE?
1000km first service people get quite fussy about this ranging from 3 to 5000kms but ive been told by a few mechanics to just ride it like normal as long as you aren't thrashing the crap out of it or riding like an old lady youll be okay
