Brilliantly put. Hillsborough is not a Liverpool issue. Hillsborough is a public safety issue. Anybody's fans could have been those fans. It could have been anybody's families in those pens having the life crushed out of them. You need to know that if something goes wrong in a large public space, there is an emergency plan that Public Safety officers are prepared to act upon. That's it. People must be held accountable if that system breaks down or none of us are safe going to any place of public assembly.
what really bothers me is the extent of the conspiracy to cover up what happened at Hillsborough, the police force, the police federation, the ground officials at sheffield Wednesday, the excluded medical information hidden from the original inquiry, the lies by david duckenfield saying the gates were forced, the fact that he did not turn up to the ground till 2.00,the fact that he was seen leaving the control box then returning.this disaster was an utter disgrace from day one,the police wanting the coroner to take blood samples from all the dead to see there alcohol levels, the police lied from the start and tried to overt the blame by blaming innocent Liverpool fans.the the 25 year cover up which followed.the ground had no safety cert which was withheld from the original enquirey wonder what else they will find under the freedom of information's act to what thatcher did to cover up the truth and to protect her police force from scrutiny it just proves that the evidence he gives at his trial will prob be all lies!!!!!!!!!!to cover up his own incompetence.
It’s clear the authorities are at fault. As others have said, they should have owned up paid compensation there and then and we wouldn’t be talking about with this much bitterness today. The UK establishment also complicit.
When people buy a ticket to an event they rightfully presume the organizers will insure their safety by proper crowd control. That didn’t happen here. This was a failure by the people in charge. The year before they had the exact same match and nobody died the person in charge of that event was not the incompetent morally bankrupt person in charge of this match. The police, rather than owning their own shit, launched a massive cover and campaign to blame the victims. They fed the press a pack of lies that they naturally reported and ended up making the trauma even worse for the families and survivors. This was a failure on the part of the people responsible for instigating a proper safety culture.
Yep when I watched it live in ireland- seems like yesterday. The police okay might have been waiting for a command to do something but come on even watching it on tv any normal person with compassion would have helped the fans instead of just standing there by the pitch, doing nothing. Cause of this in my opinion this disaster could have been averted.
I'm of the opinion as it's not fair to say the police just stood there as that's been factually proven to be false. The officers assigned that end were in the thick of it, doing everything they could. The officers ordered to cordon off an entire section of the field did so to make sure Nottingham Forest fans would not intervene on the chance it was perceived as hooliganism. They were doing as ordered, part of the job of a police officer. Does it look good? Clearly it looks bad. The individual officers on the day should be hailed as heroes as many of them saved dozens of lives individually
I was 8 when this happened, I was Liverpool mad,I remember being angry the game had stopped and went outside for a kick about, came back in later...33 people dead ....could'nt believe it..one of the saddest days of my life.
Accountability responsibility then be stripped of license and commendation. Many will fall from the ripple effect. Charges have been made to the top people. The effect will find more in lower positions as well. JFT96 will prevail for the victims as well the families.
We must remember to not be angry at the individual officers who served at the ground that day. They are not at fault for their leaders decisions. Many of the officers assigned to the west end were in the thick of the situations, doing everything they could to save lives. The lack of planning and leadership, those two simple reasons, are why Hillsborough happened.

@@lewistaylor346 the whole of the Leppings lane terrace was actually under capacity. It was the poor distribution of the fans into the 2 central pens that caused the disaster. The whole of that terrace had a reported capacity of 10,100. At the time of the disaster, there was 9,250 fans on that terrace. So there wasn’t hundreds of ticketless fans.

This proved to be a big mistake and the innocent suffer from stupidity of others.

Graham Kelly CEO is the man to blame knowing full well the stadium was not safe..

Why did he run away from the ground when he was trained in CPR?
Mmmm, let's see!

Liverpool fans have to take some blame(Don't want to start issues) as they are the ones that forced themselves into the stadium
No they didn’t. Another one who believes the myths of Hillsborough.
