I did Krav Maga for 3 years until a knee injury and then cancer. I've got two of David Kahn's books and they're excellent. I'm definitely going to ask for this DVD for my birthday so I can train at home. I'm building my strength back up and Krav gave me joy. Looks like an excellent DVD David Kahn!!!
I feel bad for you man. If you need a copy of: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017T9RZAM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 reach out to me and I'll see what I can do to help you out.
Hi, you make excellent points about locks as an attacker will naturally withdraw his limbs. We generally do not use locks without preceding retzev combatives including the orange belt over-the-top sliding defense as depicted in the video. Thank you for your positive comments as well. David Kahn
Absolutely the best DVD set on Krav Maga available today. Doesn't matter what Krav organisation you belong to or if you practice another martial art/system, you all need to get these!
Great work! I have been waiting for these videos for some time. I trained extensively with Vitor Martins at IKMA Portugal and I know these techniques work. I can't wait to get these and continue studying. David is a great teacher and knows Krav Maga as good as anyone in the world. Thanks David.
Hi, the DVD was filmed for the dual purpose of reinforcing basic and advanced core krav maga tenets while also providing a step by step introduction for those new to krav maga. I asked people with different martial arts backgrounds, with various levels of training in krav maga, and those who had no previous krav maga experience to preview the DVDs. Fortunately, everyone seemed to come away having benefitted whether is was a first impression or a key subtlety as taught in Israel. . . David
The technique at the 50 second mark is defending against a sideheadlock when the attacker's momentum forces the defender forward. The defense is a modification of the standing defense where the defender harnesses his forward momentum to roll with the attacker.
This is one of the best slap and tickle video's ever! Try any of that with a fully resisting opponent, and it won't end well. One doesn't need to add this to MMA, this mess needs MMA. That would be easy, just go try this in an MMA gym. Go ahead, most of them have open mats and would welcome the opportunity very nicely.
It reminds me of MMA for Self-Defense, just add these principles onto your MMA. Plus I would add Kali & theSarong for weapons defense. As for the techniques, well you learn them in MMA but it's all in the mindset. This is a Great series by the way.
@HwarangKhan Hi, you pose a good question. Remember, Imi was a boxer and straight punches, in particular, are integral to krav maga counterattacks, especially, when used in weapon defenses. Proper straight punches are delivered using correct wrist and elbow alignment along with hip movement. Equally important, contact is made with the first two knuckles (as explained in the DVDS). Other strikes you mention can be effective as well, but, they are not as versatile as straight punches.
Hi, Yes, we will be opening our flagship facility in Manhattan at the end of the summer. We appreciate your insights that our krav maga is different. Thank you.
Please open one in Toronto. I would be happy to help out. We do have one or two Kraav schools and they are half decent but one that strictly focuses on the techniques you teach would be a great addition. Im school they are too afraid to teach arm breaks because they are afraid someone might get injured. Very frustrating.
I took leave for two years. My kickboxing skills made me a standout in class. Most people taking it cannot punch or kick. Very little sparring grappling or heavy bag work. I do like the groin kick. The hammer fist and the rapid fire knees.
I just picked up the dvd series. I have had a few months of classes. Also have david Levine book and Itay Gil's dvd. Yours is really top notch. Thank you for sharing your techniques. They are top rate. Before i started watching your videos. Itay was the end all be all. I know add your name to that list sir.
Very good point. Feints, which we begin to teach at the orange belt level, are integral to krav maga training. Grandmaster Gidon teaches fighting in addition to self-defense. To be sure, we must train to defend against a trained adversary.
It's also best to combine our Krav training with at least one other martial art. For me it's Muay Thai. But BJJ, Judo, Wrestling are also a good choice.
What is your thought on Haganah developed by Mike Lee Kanarek. His videos are on youtube. He says that he studied Krav Maga, Hisidurt, Kapap and Lotar.
In the first DVD Upper Body Combatives the "Chapter" "Stance and Footwork" is not there. When clicked on the DVD just goes straight into the Elbow strikes section.
They are well worth it. I don't get anything out of selling them but I bought then and there is a ton of useful information. Try and find a training partner you can drill with.
I myself have been practicing krav for a few years now and only have one comment or question. I honestly don't see the cavaliers or arm locks working against a punch unless the puncher just leaves his arm out after punching. If your opponent is also trained I'm not sure that those locks would be effective but other than that the video set is AWESOME!
I agree. I like the cavalier but usually as a secondary technique. I would not try and go straight from a right hook to a cavalier. But many other situations lend to it. I suppose if the guy winds up for a big right hook and you seem him telegraph it you might have a chance. But I would just block while moving in and kneeing him to the balls.
Hi Thanks for the e-mail today. I hope you will also let me know when you open the facility in NYC. So looking forward to it. One more question, is the DVD created more for supplementary purpose or will it also help a person who has no prior training of Krav Maga or any other martial art?
Krav Maga is great but there are times when a trained fighter is going to mess with you also. So be ready to block a lot of kicks that can be used for setups.
Good point. That is why I combine Krav with Muay Thai. But the last two times I was attacked it was Krav that saved the day. With a bit of Muay Thai thrown in. I smashed a guy with a hard elbow to the orbital bone. I learned that elbow in both Krav and Muay Thai but drilled it a million times in Muay Thai to realy hone in the technique.
You can get it here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017T9RZAM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Amazing material as you can see from the reviews. Money well spend and has an amazing amount of material. Over 11 hours I think in total.
Krav Maga is what Kenpo should have been. Personally i find Kenpo to be over stylized, the self defense is good but the sets & forms are a waist of time. i heard that Master Chow saw the forms & sets that Tai Chi-Hung Gar-Choy Lay Fut Master James "Jimmy" Wing Woo created for Sr GM Ed Parker as a total waist of time. Dear Sir what do you think of Krav Maga vs Kenpo dilemma ? Am i correct in my assumptions or am i completely wrong. Has there ever been a comparison between these 2 arts? Thank You.
I can only speak for Krav Maga. I take it as well as Muay Thai and it is definately effective. I have been attacked twice, once with a guy with a beer bottle, and it was krav instincts that kicked in when attacked and pumped full of fear and adrenaline. I destroyed both my attackers in under a minute. Nothing fancy just basic Krav. I deflected there initial attacks and counter attacked with extreme prejudice. They had no idea how to deal with the torrent of violence I unleashed on them. Krav is an amazing system but if you can combine it with one other martial art. For me it's Muay Thai but BJJ, wrestling, judo are also good options.

Movements are too telegraphed especially the kicks kung fu arts over 300 yrs old.and for people understand this self defense comes from martial arts.krav good self defense yes will work against someone who is not seasoned but toe to toe with a mma fighter no way unless you do mma and krav then you will be a animal

How are things going for you these days? I hope all is well.

Thank you sir for this presentation. Your language is on I intimately understand quite well. Keep pressing forward! Outstanding.

Krav maga is very effective in real life..i am practicing it and david is a legend.
Same here. Used it twice when attacked and destroyed my attackers in under a minute. David is amazing.
THE REAL DEAL !!!!

David is fantastic and my go to Krav instructor. A class act as a person too.
@TheIsraelikrav Hi, the Stance and Footwork is presented at the 19:48 mark of DVD 1, Mastering Upper Body Combatives.
Best,
David Kahn

@TheRealShadowShark Thanks for your insight. I will be sure to look into this and follow up with you.

He looks like an awesome trainer and fighter.
He is. I highly recommend: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017T9RZAM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hi Thanks for the e-mail today. I hope you will also let me know when you open the facility in NYC. So looking forward to it.
These DVDS are a steal. Get 'em as soon as you got the cash.
I have to agree. As a Krav practitioner this DVD set is fucking amazing.
The sound effects though
Does anyone know the name of that move at 02:06 or at least the details of how it's executed ?
It's called The Rustler of Jimmies. It's executed by rustling the opponent's jimmies.
Great System

I'd follow this guy into battle
Good shit. I'll buy the videos
They are well worth it. I don't get anything out of selling them but I bought then and there is a ton of useful information. Try and find a training partner you can drill with.
It was Jacob who wrestled with Gabriel.
Other than that, great video!
what is the difference between self defense and fighting?
I myself have been practicing krav for a few years now and only have one comment or question. What kind of shoes does he have on?

One more question, is the DVD created more for supplementary purpose or will it also help a person who has no prior training of Krav Maga or any other martial art?
It will help both. But to get the most out of it find a training partner you can practice and drill with.
TODA RABA !!!!

Wing chun concepts nothing new here it's a jkd approach and it's a fact relaxed energy will always defeat strength
Actually it takes techniques form wing chung, muay thai, judo, bbj, westling and more. Whatever works is incorporated into the system.
