    Based on my experience, HE machines DO NOT CLEAN as effectively as the older Non-HE machines do. Also, I noticed HE machines take longer, using more electricity. My clothes dryer is a natural gas model and works ten times better than an electric one. We hang dry in the garage and then fluff in the dryer for 8 mins. If you have a household that has its own water well, do not use an HE machine. Get a machine that will completely fill with water and run for a much shorter amount of time. You will have cleaner clothes. There are other options as well. 1) Get a machine that has a manual override on the water level. I have a GE HE machine that allows me to add more water by holding the fill switch at max. 2) adjust or modify the water fill switch screw setting (there are videos on youtube that show this).
    My son, a college student living in an apartment, recently purchased a lightly used GE washer and dryer from another student. Both units for $300 total. The washer is not an HE model. It looks like new. He and his roommate are very impressed with how well it cleans. I said its not an HE machine. He said, what does that mean. I said, the newer high efficiency(HE) machines use less than half the water and therefore do not properly clean your clothes. He said, thank god I didn't buy one of those. I also asked, is it quicker than our machine at home? He said Oh Yeah. It seems like its twice as fast. I said yep...that is progress for ya. One step forward and two steps back. In the beginning, our GE HE machine made our clothes smell terrible. I was so angry. We followed the instructions. With HE machines you need to add more water and the right detergent. Its simple science. Experiment until have the desired results. You simply can't argue that. You can easily argue, based on empirical data, that HE machines need significant improvement. We need clean and fresh clothes. If my machine does not do that, I don't want it. How is that hard to understand? You know what they say, if you want something done right...

    @takispap100 When clothes get tangled, it means the fabric becomes twisted and can bunch, similar to a knot. Hope this helps!
    Thanks, Megan from GE

    The washing machines we had before front loaders and h e models came on where way better and worked better! They need more water to move about freely so things can get properly cleaned!
    We tried front loaders and top-loaders with an agitator and our clothes are still not properly cleaned!
    Before you could put the detergent in and let the water start filling up because you could set the level without it needing the weight of the clothes for determination. And you could let your clothes sit in there as long as they needed to for soaking and everything came off. All the hair dust pollen oils body oils perfumes etc. And the clothes weren't a tangled up mess either. Your clothes actually felt and smelled clean!

      Hi there,
      We do apologize for any issues you have had when it comes to doing laundry. Our goal is to make the experience easier and better. The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary.
      If your clothes are not cleaning well, please check out this article: spklr.io/6050Y5uu
      We also have a support article if your clothes are getting tangled: spklr.io/6051Y5uR
      If you continue to experience issues with your washer, please let us know and we'll be happy to assist. Best. -MH

    Agree with other comments! Same happened to me. Big mistake buying GE. HE is not high efficiency when you have to wash your clothes 3+ times. On top of that the washer rips our clothes. We have lost so much $ on irreplaceable items. The kids cry over ripped favorite clothing, jerseys, souvenir shirts. There are always 2 holes...I read quality let through sharp edges on inside of tub. Large tub is deceiving when you can only fill it 1/3 at most. So disappointed.

      Hello Alejandro - We do not recommend manually adding water. Please note that you must press and hold Deep Fill button for at least 3 seconds to fill the washer to the maximum water level. It will fill to approximately 26 gallons except on portable / stationary models with Deep Fill. When using Deep Fill, please note that the lid must be down so the washer can properly sense the water. It does add a lot of water. However, it does not fill all the way up to the very top. Thanks - RF

    I can see them saying, "Do not wrap items around agitator." But in a way you have to because if you just throw it in bunches it will become even more tangled. And not get very clean. Also its not good showing people they can pour in the powdered detergent and put their clothes directly on top without any water. That method alone is one of the worst ways to form extra undissolved detergent on your clothes after the wash is done. The powder stuff must be dissolved in the water first then you can put your clothes in.

      @@geappliances So when are you going to update the instructions to take into account that feedback?
      For that matter, the owner's manual for my GTW465 does *not* say to put powdered detergent at the bottom: it says to put detergent on top of the clothes just after loading *except* when using "detergent packets". Somehow, that is more plausible. I can see, after all, how the washer would have trouble dissolving powdered detergent under the clothes.

    Just bought a GE washer, biggest piece of junk I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t use nearly enough water even on the large load setting with a small load, my clothes never get clean.
    I put my clothes in neat and balanced around the drum and it still throws its self out of balance, beats and bangs so bad it dances across the floor and jams itself against the laundry room door, and then guess what? I can even get in my laundry room. I tried to return it but no such luck.

    LOL funny how GE says in this very video that if there is NOT enough water, stating the clothes should move freely and on top of the water. NOT so in the Hydro Infuser models. They look just like the load in this video. that GE tells you that you don't need anymore water to get your clothes clean. So which is it GE, yes our clothes should move freely in the water, or no the water does not have to be on top of the clothes.

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  9 років тому

      Hello, TheBeachlif2. We are happy to help. Our new washers are designed to be much more water and energy efficient than our models in the past. While you should not expect to see an excessive amount of water covering the clothes, when the amount of clothing added most closely matches your load size selection, you can expect to see your clothes move in and on top of the water. Once the cycle is complete, your clothes will be saturated with water and you should expect to see excellent cleaning results. We hope this helps to explain!

  • @SpectatorAlius
    @SpectatorAlius 3 роки тому +1

    Although the video does not clearly state it, these instructions are *not* correct for any of the fancy new HE washers that sense load size themselves. Why, on these new models, it is not even possible to watch the clothes moving in and out of the water as step 3 insists, since the machine stops by the time you could lift up the lid to watch.

    I have a GE High Efficiency washer and I hate it!! I have had it about 3 years. It does not get my cloths clean. My husband is in construction and my son is an auto mechanic and all the stains never come out, even with soak and pre-treatment because the water does not even cover all the cloths. TERRIBLE DESIGN!! Please bring back the old washing machines!

      The clothes don't wash correctly with the water efficiency system it has. Soap stays on the clothes, the fabric softener stains the clothes when it's put in the cup in the middle of the agitator. Even when we put deep wash, the clothes do not wash well. Mind you, this was a brand new washer. Very disappointed with the quality of washing.

    My wash machine has high medium and auto water level what does that mean

    • @SpectatorAlius
      @SpectatorAlius 3 роки тому

      What it must mean is: if you select high or medium, then the water levels are set to a fixed amount, either 'high' or 'medium'. But if you select auto, then the machine tries to figure out for itself (there is a fairly sophisticated computer in it) what the right level should be.
      I use the GTW465 equivalent of "auto water level (precise fill)" all the time and have never been disappointed by it.

    I have a G.E Hydrowave machine and wish I had never purchased this piece of junk washer. Even when set on the X-tra large load setting there isn’t even enough water to cover the clothes, and no, I do not overfill my machine. This is hardly a water saving/energy saving machine when I am forced to wash every load twice, and is actually environmentally un-friendly. I will never buy another G.E. product or recommend one to anyone.

    The "Super" water level setting on my GE is a joke. You can only wash five towels.
