Awesome review. Can’t wait until mine arrives. It cracks me up how people complain about the price and expect these products to be next to nothing in cost.
Yea technically Ecoflow is the leader in portable power stations at the moment with crazy features and accessories. So you are going to pay more. Are they perfect ? No but I don’t know of a company or product that is. But it’s so much better than DP and that was a work horse!!! If you are ever in Far nor Cal I could use your detailing services 👍🏼😂👊🏼
I’m a bit old and slow so bear with me. For a small cabin power backup, the ecoflow with 240v could run my well (20a) when needed. And if paired with new gen, The gen would start when battery got low to recharge? Great channel!
My dp3 just arrived. And I'm looking at the DC outlet side and see the connections. Can I run my diesel heater, fan and 12v fridge all off the Anderson port? Like a splitter ?
It does have ups mode at 10ms switch over. So if plugged into grid power you would have this plugged into the device and if grid power goes down it swaps from pass through to battery automatically
Yes, it will do that. You can set it to “AC always on” and then in the event that power is lost and the battery is totally depleted.. when power is restored the inverter kicks back on a power to whatever you have plugged into it will be restored as well.
Thanks for your review, it’s great! I’m interested in your opinion if extra battery from Delta Pro 3 fit the Delta Pro. I want to new Extra Battery Delta Pro 3 and connect it to Delta Pro (old). Thank you for your feedback.
Could you do a compare of the Delta Pro 3 vs the Ultra? Also, does the Smart Gas Generator work nicely with both of them, I've heard some folks are having problems with the auto sense/start system. Thank you for the video!
The DPU is an entirely different unit and really suited for home back up and not so much a portable unit. The new and old smart gen does not work with DPU unless they come up with an adapter soon. Will see. The new smart gen is not really even out so not sure how people are getting data with DP3 or anything else.
It can but barely also using xboost, but honestly that’s not what it’s for. So I dont recommend it because you are maxing it out. Well pump yes but also depends on the size of the pump. Many different units with different power draws you would would have to see how much your unit draws
I am in the research stage of planning our full time Rv as retirement looms. I have been comparing the ecoflow (1/2 the cost) of traditional Victron system. I have watched many of your videos. I’m leaving toward the DP3 with extra battery and the smart generator. My home already solar powered but it feeds to the grid. So I will have to do the research on how to adapt it to our home, when not rving. I am disabled, so I’m limited to doing a traditional solar install on RV. I was going the RV comes with 600 watts from factory with upgrades up to 1000 so that part will be run for me. My research installing a manual transfer switch seems to be the best best in the Rv. Since I will be using the Ecoflow DP3 at my home also. Any suggestions about integrating it to the RV? I watched your videos on your Rv system. As always I love the informative videos you produce!
If buying a new rv try to have two roof top inlets down to a breaker or disconnect and then that’s it. Don’t use there junk if possible unless it’s two late. The Gopower is so over priced for what ya get. What you want is the power feeding down to the disconnects so you can then use the solar to what ever system you desire. Not what they build Then from there you can plug right into DP3 or any other system of your choice to charge batteries or Ecoflow or what ever. Verses if they build a whole system is can be a little difficult sometimes to grab the solar and run it to where you want
Do we still have the limitation of either 2 batteries or a battery and the generator. I have a full system with two DPs, 4 batteries and 2 SGs and I wish I could run them all together.
I can give rough estimates but so many variables not to mention this new engine is more than double the size of the old one. So it will burn more fuel overall but also will charge much faster.
Really nice review with plenty of technical detail. I hope ecoflow are paying you, or at least letting you keep the unit for this. Anyway, thanks for info on Delta Pro EB compatibility, but do they also support the powerstream? I currently have 2* Pro EBs and 1 x DP and need another main unit to take advantage of offpeak charging rates
9:01 never seen a capture rate of a camera match up with the vibration of a gas generator before. Makes it look like it's wiggling. Kind a cool effect!
Great review, thank you. I hear what you are saying about the 240v in, but no front ports use. I would rather the setup be as it is where if you are doing 120v, you get the 120v and 240v (albeit it at a cost of battery base charge). I think most folks have 120v generators that are only 120V capable. But as you said, perhaps a firmware update can make this selectable.
yes with new firmware (ecoflow seems to send a new firmware out almost daily), the EB's from the original DP work but your Delta Pro with the inveter you can use as a boat anchor
Wonderful video! Question. Is it worth waiting for Smart Generator 3 if all I'm going to have is DP + EB? I don't plan on upgrading to DP3 anytime soon and the DFSG2 is on sale. I know your SG3 review is a couple of weeks out.
It puts out almost double the power and has a larger engine. Plus acts more like a regular inverter generator. Although bigger and heavier and larger engine will burn more fuel over all but will charge much quicker
So the new smart generator will work on the old delta pro? If so can you show that in your video you make about the new smart generator I’m excited to see it ☺️
Yes it does!! And yes you will see more here than anywhere else. Since I have been around generators along time I already have more info on this than any other channel. Soon! I’m going on a trip so when I get back I’ll be working on that. Departing in my RV asap!! 👍🏼😀
@leguirerj I did 2800-3000 bit firmware is still not correct for DP But that update should be coming anytime soon hopefully I’ll have that in the video
Great thorough vid on the DP3. Nice show with all the testing, but I think the OG DP would be better for me in my situation. And now should be cheaper. 😅
According to the manual you actually can't use both front panel 120 and 240 AC outlets at the same time. A minor detail in the manual but actually can be a make or break for some people. "To ensure optimal output power for the US/JP version, the AC Output button (HV) and AC Output button (LV) cannot be used at the same time. When one is enabled, the other is automatically disabled."
I think the only thing left to really criticize the Delta Pro series now is how the extra batteries don't really have any other function other than supply power to the main unit. It would be ideal for the extra battery to either allow you to plug in the gas generator OR allow other batteries to be plugged into it to daisy chain more batteries, it would help out on losing capacity to the gas generator or something (though I guess you'd just want to get the DPU at this point). Also would be nice to get more amps out of the 240v port AND be able to use the 120v outlets at the same time. Still, for a first time buyer that's willing to spend the money and have something that's still portable, DP3 looks REALLY impressive. Makes me wish it was out when we were looking at the original Delta Pro, but technology always gets better. Grass is always green, etc etc etc. Def not worth us upgrading.
@@johnnysweekends YUP That's always been the big drawback. When I was first looking into the Ecoflow Delta Pro, I had it in my head that we could take the extra battery and bring it to a generator to charge it then bring it back to the main unit to keep it going. Happy I realized that wasn't the case before we bought it but I just wish there was more you could do with them. I really like that the Ultra lets you daisy-chain them to expand cause that's the most elegant way to do it.
The only problem I have is the amount of solar I can add to this. For this price I should be able to have one port where I could add up to 500v. I live in the north so I need a much larger array. I will also never buy proprietary second batteries. They should fully support regular 51.2v batteries I could just buy off amazon and have it work in tandem with the battery inside the system.
Just a heads up for anyone thinking about buying an Ecoflow power station. If they are out of an item, their website will not state this. Therefore, they will take your money for something they don't even have in stock. I ordered a River 2/panel combo for my daughter. The panel was shipped, but the not the River2. I had to email them to find out what is going on with the River2. That's when they informed me that they won't have any until the end of July.
I wish they would have had a way to a add the two new batteries and then piggy back the old two batteries onto those essentially giving you a dp3 and 4 batteries … 2 batteries is too limited
Johnny, any recommendations on where to find a L14-30R power meter 240v to collect power usage for home generator using interlock switch? I can’t find one
You can use the power watch dog. It keeps track of loads and KWH. This is the cheaper one but you will need a adapter www.amazon.com/dp/B0791VGVZ1/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_S913DHDAS09701G8BRVC?linkCode=ml2&tag=johnny5dahlbe-20
With the Anker f3800 being around the same price or lower with a 6000w stronger inverter, it seems like the better deal and can run much bigger 240v loads. However so that i know the Anker cannot pass through output AC on its 240v ports while ac charging at all. At least the DP3 can charge at 120v while outputting 240v. Something is better than nothing. But they need to update these whole house devices to actually pass through 240v. Thats what we all want to save generator fuel.
Would love to own these new units but they are all way over prices and way too much hype. My delta pro and two extra batteries have never held up to all the hype. I'm sure these new units are just as hyped and most likely will not last as long as they state. But I would still like to trade my units for the new ultra as it is more storage friendly. My delta pro and the extra battery connector are horrible. You have to have at least four or five feet to store the pros so you do not bend the battery cables.
@jackjacks5480 Actually, I did mean the 800w micro inverter. I wondered if they released a new version of that device too as the old one is on sale on amazon.
The problem with the portable battery industry, and especially EcoFlow, is that all the products are TOO EXPENSIVE!! The delta pro 3 needs to be $1,000 *at most* and all the other products scaled down in price similarly.
$1000 will never happen for a premium all in one unit. Maybe a knock off with minimal features But $1600-2000 for a different brand that’s close maybe.
Problem is the threw out smart panel 1. They wont even sell the cables anymore. Half baked and unsupported. I wont buy any other ecoflow unit because they throw out the legacy products and leave people hanging after spending thousands.
A lot of companies ditch first runs as they learn a lot. And if it has to many problems then not worth to continue. SHP2 is way better but I find if you use DPU only and not mix old DP
@@johnnysweekends so what are the original adopters support to do with the legacy gear that made them so succesful? Throw it all away? We aren't getting free gear shipped to us like some others (ahem!).
Then become a beta tester for them if you qualify or actually use your stuff and give feedback back. It will only cost you a few hundred hours or testing with trail and error But yea sure “ its free” Ahem….not. If you want info or have legit questions I can help, if you wanna complain and not offer any help then I’m not sure why you are here
@@johnnysweekends Im helping you understand that people are incredibly smart, have minds of their own and don't look to you nor other UA-cam influencers to help figure out what thing to buy (or not). I'm also not interested in helping China develop more advanced capabilities to sell back to the USA (e.g. beta testing). Good luck!

The problem with the portable battery industry, and especially EcoFlow, is that all the products are TOO EXPENSIVE!! The delta pro 3 needs to be $1,000 *at most* and all the other products scaled down in price similarly.
$1000 will never happen for a premium all in one unit. Maybe a knock off with minimal features
But $1600-2000 for a different brand that’s close maybe.
🤣 where did you come up with that $1000? That barely covers the cost of the battery
1000 dollars is a wild price suggestion for a 4kwh power station.
You will see how the prices will drop in future by the pressure of Far Eastern competitors.
Not if you're gonna get 240v... Try and find something that'll do that as a stand alone item
It will only cost you a few hundred hours or testing with trail and error
But yea sure “ its free”
Ahem….not.
Most of the online reviews are very biased towards whatever you're trying to help the company sell --- we all know this. I'm also not interested in helping China develop more advanced capabilities to sell back to the USA (e.g. beta testing). Good luck!
