Whoever did the guitar solo here really made sure that every single note was of utmost significance and relevance to the song. I raise my glass to you!
I have been looking for a version of this song without the up-tempo melody and bouncy backbeat. These two bring the introspective sadness of the song out quite nicely.
I love how he's getting all sexy with his voice when asking why did God deserted him. I don't know. It kind of really takes the original painful vibes from the song to a delightful level of comedy. Not to mention the corny but playful duet at the end when talking about their mother dying. You can really picture them smiling and flirting with the camera when singing that part. Couldn't get better, 10/10. Really enjoyed it!
I want to be a fan of Diana Krall, but, have found it difficult. I accept that she is more than just a competent singer, but no WOW factor ever grabbed hold of me. Until this cover. This is brilliant. Her melancholy voice suits the song so well, and has encouraged me to keep looking. As for Michael Buble, for my money , he is the best male vocalist alive today and once again proves it with an effortless elegance. Ps. Check out the Buble duet with Ariane Grande, singing Santa Claus is coming to town. A superb performance from the young lady.
For Marius, with you on the Gilbert sentiment, but this is new and quite good take on that song in my opinion. p.s Marius, The Gilbert O'Sulivan was the first record I ever owned back in 1972/3/4 lol
I have seen Diana Krall 3 times live and Michael Buble twice. Tonight was the first time that I heard this cover. Both of them blow me away with their musicality. I realize that music is all about personal taste, but I have great taste. Michael is a great showman as well as my favorite male vocalist. I love both of their "Besame Mucho" covers. Diana is CHILL. Her voice has been described as wild honey mixed with whisky. I was hooked on her 21 years ago when she did "Peel Me a Grape" at the 1998 Newport jazz festival, sitting casually sideways on her piano's bench. ua-cam.com/video/PNEVn9chS9Q/v-deo.html Thank you both for enriching my life.
In a little while from now If I'm not feeling any less sour I promise myself to treat myself And visit a nearby tower And climbing to the top Will throw myself off In an effort to Make it clear to whoever Wants to know what it's like When you're shattered Left standing in the lurch at a church Were people saying, My God, that's tough She stood him up No point in us remaining We may as well go home As I did on my own Alone again, naturally To think that only yesterday I was cheerful, bright and gay Looking forward to who wouldn't do The role I was about to play But as if to knock me down Reality came around And without so much as a mere touch Cut me into little pieces Leaving me to doubt Talk about, God in His mercy Oh, if he really does exist Why did he desert me In…
What a beautiful song by the incredibly underrated Gilbert O’ Sullivan.

I disagree. check out the original.
@@tiborkovacs4827Nobody comes here before the original one

Gilbert o'Sullivan although still living has left one hell of a legacy of music and great writing.
Incredibly beatiful duet. One of those ballads that hits too close to home and can only listen to on occasion.

Linoa dupla
Bellissimaa!!
"........we may as well go home as I went home, all alone, naturally......"
Super meravigliosi

a beautiful melody, but with a very sad lyrics...😭
Didn’t realise Diana had such a masculine voice
At least u didn't get stuck with someone u never loved 42 yrs

Nos contempla também com "ELES".
This is my sisters fave
This cover works extremely well. While I prefer Gilbert's original, this version, I believe, closely expresses Gilbert's feeling.
❤❤❤❤
Wonder if they were aware of Gilbert and some of the other wonderful songs he wrote
Woah, they went hard with pitch correction on this
In a little while from now
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promise myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower
And climbing to the top
Will throw myself off
In an effort to
Make it clear to whoever
Wants to know what it's like When you're shattered
Left standing in the lurch at a church
Were people saying, My God, that's tough
She stood him up
No point in us remaining
We may as well go home
As I did on my own
Alone again, naturally
To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to who wouldn't do
The role I was about to play
But as if to knock me down
Reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch
Cut me into little pieces
Leaving me to doubt
Talk about, God in His mercy
Oh, if he really does exist
Why did he desert me
In…
Thanks for 1.5 speed feature youtube :)
I still prefer The Gilbert O Sullivan version!! ❤
Bellissima
Alone again naturelly
Is this for real? It makes me cry and sing at the same time but I don’t know which is real.
💔💔💔
Please tell, what do we do?
you got the lyrics wrong... duh

I feel like this needs to be made a montage for the main character’s fall from grace in a movie.
See Ted Lasso. Amazing episode about coach beard.
1.25 speed is better
Shattered
Sounded better by the man who wrote it.
Love this version and i only got my attention to this Song after it. The first version, in my opinion, does not transmit its felling well
I agree!
Both have beautiful voices but his has a ron burgundy quality and hers is a bit lugubrious. Song needs Gilbert’s tempo.
