I feel this version really reflects Frank Sinatra's true life. He 'did it his way' and it fell apart with many affairs, divorces, and outbursts. This haunting cover reminds me that maybe 'our way' isn't necessarily the best way. Frank's last words were "I'm losing it".
"As I wake, i know, the guard will bring me to face the needle today. I hear a knock on the door and a voice. 'Its time johnny, time for your last meal.' As I rise from what had been my bed for 17 years, I take one last look on my life and how i got here. [Queue song, played over montage of moments leading up to the execution mixed with flashbacks on his life. During final instrumental play out] 'Any last words?' 'I did it my way'" [Instrumental continues through end of scene as execution is carried out. Fade to black. Credits]
The moment that always gets me is when he sings "when there was doubt, I ate it up, and spit it out" because for a brief second it sounds triumphant, and then descends back into insanity but for that one moment your mind is scrambling because no, this is not a good song, this is a bad song, you can't sound this way. It's like when the enemy troops are descending and their side is playing fun and jovial music and you have to stop yourself. I just really love that part.
Best version. No contest. There is so much emotional UMPH in this version. The up beat version is nice but the minor key fits the lyrics far better. The slow ramp up to the climax before the sudden stop and simply soft music makes me think of a dying man giving the world his last bits of energy and announcing that he lived his life and was proud of what he’s accomplished before finally taking his last breathe. I replayed this multiple times and had to hold back tears the whole time. Finally let myself cry while writing this. Absolutely beautiful.
InsanePocky my family thinks I'm weird for being so obsessed with Frank Sinatra even though he died the year I was born. I just like his music. There's nothing wrong with that lol
I love all of the theories people make up for Chase's songs. This one sounds like someone is dying or being executed, so now they're reminiscing about their life before they take someone else down with them.
I feel like it's more like a tyrant in the middle of being deposed. A mad king in a palace under siege with empty halls and a bloody ballroom, the last few loyalists terrified as he walks by, and he sings this to himself, yet only he can hear the music.
And now, the end is near And so I face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear I'll state my case, of which I'm certain I've lived a life that's full I traveled each and every highway And more, much more than this, I did it my way Regrets, I've had a few But then again, too few to mention I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway And more, much more than this, I did it my way Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew But through it all, when there was doubt I ate it up and spit it out I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way I've loved, I've laughed and cried I've had my fill, my share of losing And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing To think I did all that And may I say, not in a shy way Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels The record shows I took the blows and did it my way [instrumental] Yes, it was my way
This is his finale before offing himself. He refuses to let investigators get to him. They called him the Apollo Killer, going after world renown singers, and medics in his deluded belief that he was the Greek God reincarnated, and that he needed to reclaim his spot in Olympus, and this is him after finally realizing what he did.
@@jesss.5260 I needed a new pet project anyway. And I thought that the story could be told from the point of this one woman who was his 'Daphne' and she only tries to get away but to no avail

Wow... If there were any song better suited for a Minor arrangement I don't know what it is... This is excellent. I should explain exactly why I feel this way. I love Frank Sinatra: Fly Me to the Moon, I've got you under my skin, among others, but this song has always aggravated me for some reason, I think it's got a kinda cockiness about the lyrics which is so unappealing... but this, this gives it a different emotion, this represents a warrior coming out the other side of a battle, he's done some things he'll regret, but he won, or did he? He did it his way and he's happy for the conclusion, but sad nonetheless... man, yeah, I love this... I only wish Frank Sinatra could actually record it this way... instead of his way? wow, that's irony, lol.
veggiet2009 My Nanna had the original version of “My Way” by Frank Sinatra played at her funeral, I think the original in major represents satisfaction, he was satisfied with how he lived his life as my Nanna was satisfied with her life. I enjoy this minor version as well though! Minor songs are my favourite, more solemn and meaningful, but I’ll always love “My Way” in major because it’s still so meaningful and emotional. I do like your take on this version though, it definitely does resonate with me as a song for a warrior.
In my opinion, this is one of the best videos on UA-cam. It's a masterpiece. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the original song, but the minor version and your voice just made me cry.
Har Twig I don't remember his name right now, but another guy did that. It's beautifully upsetting. Lookup major to minor theme songs. That should get it.
I feel like this is someone who is about to die like, at an execution and they are saying there last words. Telling everyone to live a life that they want, not what their Lord or king or anyone else wants them to live. And they are explaining everything, trying to convince evergone else to be themselves
I picture a sympathetic villan who knows the end is near and is less pleasing his case and more so explaining to the hero or viewer what led him to this point. Chilling.
This is such a beautiful cover. You can tell he put all he got in this song and cried out all of his emotions in the end. The song has a different tone than the original, but he took something old and made it unique in his own way which makes it work and that's what I really like about this version.
I don't believe in sleep. Of course, I occasionally sleep because I need to, but I stay up much longer than the average person because sleep takes so much time away from my life.
The mood of this song feels like the thoughts of someone taking their last breaths after realizing their life is ending sooner than they expected and making a quick summary of their choices and trying to come to peace with it even though they wish they had just a little more time. Maybe to apologize to someone they hurt, maybe perform some righteous act to leave on a high note, or to enjoy an earthly pleasure just one more time. It is a shame to die lamenting a life wasted. Do it your way, but remember you will die someday. Don't lead yourself somewhere you'll regret going to.
this sounds like a goodbye in a anime a serial killer who makes a show of every murder he makes but now when he walks slowly towards his exxecution he sees his family in memory and how they were murdered and now in his last moments he regrets what he done

Wow, this is really well made Chase! Not so long ago i discovered your channel and i fell in love with your videos! I hope you become more known in the future because you have so much potential and talent. :)
When I listen or think of this song, I see two lifelong friends, a woman and a man, sitting together on the battlefield. The man is dying and the woman won't let him go as he tells her about a memory of the two when they where younger. He then gives her one lastloveing smile before looking in the distance and saying, "My babies...it's okay, Daddy's here now..." And with that, he let's out his last breath with a smile. The girl begins to wildly cry, but, she hears three familiar voices and looks up to see her god children and friend. They were walking away hand in hand and all sang, "Did it my way!" They disappeared, leaving her with a sense of peace.
I love all of your videos but this one is truly touching and stunning and raw. thank you for doing this classic. I didn't know I needed this so badly ♡
This is long so bear with me: I'm currently working on a story with two endings, a good one and a bad one. In the bad one, my main character spirals deeper and deeper into madness and a lust for vengeance on those who have hurt her-- she's out for blood. She almost becomes a completely different person from the kind and rational woman she was before, and pushes away everyone she cares about while seeking revenge on her enemies. Except for her lover, who loyally but hesitantly goes with her, but even he gets pushed away emotionally. Eventually, it ends in their star ship (it's set in space) malfunctioning and drifting out into uncharted space, unable to be controlled, running out of fuel, and with no hope of being rescued. This song would be what plays immediately before my main character realizes in horror what she's done as she runs out of air, knowing she's doomed both herself and her lover. She did it her way, and this is what it led to.
I don't know if I've ever even heard the entire original song but I'm never going to hear it the same after this. This is my new favorite thing I've been listening to it on repeat for two days its so dramatic and feels like it's telling a story :O
Fantastic video, amazing cover as always ! I love your work, i feel so much things through your covers, and I thank you for all the good work you share with us !!!
I was listening to the other minor key covers and.... I am literally blown away. Ussually I just listen and enjoy, but.... you are exceptional... thank you for your artistry.
The melancholy tone brought out by the key and temp change make the song better imo; Sinatra's great, but this song is so much more relatable this way - the original sounds almost arrogant or flippant in victory, but this says I'm beaten and broken but I made it.
Put in minor key and sung by Chase, this song sounds like a crazy psycho who plotted out a crime, and is now heading to their execution. AWESOME rendition Chase!
this was the song we played in memory of my grandfather, and I cry every time I hear it. He loved Sinatra, and the fact that Sinatra is still loved today would make him very happy.
so this sounds like someone heading to their execution with a montage of their life flashing before their eyes.

This is like a serial killer or insane psycho slowly dying while reliving all of their past murders/psychotic fantasies!!! I love it sooooo much 😍👌
*EDIT* Minor key songs are my favourite so thank you sm 💖
Hello are you a Stay? I'm guessing because of your profile 😂
Yeah and then listening to the original it sounds so different
Dude if only i had the means, i would make an entire musical out of you. i wish i could support your patreon but i cant. I'll keep coming back for more tho so keep it up!
This sounds like a song a Disney villain would sing. Freaking awesome work, man!
Ol' Blue Eyes would be proud, Chase
The villain song we really needed
✨ so gorgeous✨
2:42 is my favorite cause it sounds like the villain is finally getting what they want and winning 😫
Beautiful and haunting. Fitting of a fallen angel or anti-hero explaining his grim but necessary actions.
this sounds like a serial murderer singing about his murdering life :D so creepy and beautiful
Artsy Scrub
YEAH I'm not the only one who see's this version of this song that way
Sangwoo
and that he doesn't care who knows it, he did it his way!
edgelord
showed this to my mom yesterday and she swore she heard this at the hotel we were staying in. i guess whoever plans the playlist is a fan because the very day this was released it was playing over dinner :)
So haunting!!! What an amazing example of how a simple change of key can affect lyrics so strongly! Bravo!
This could be the Joker's final monologue with the Batman.
Wonderfully done!
I love the minor songs, have a suggestion for one, "Pure Imagination" from the original Willie Wonka Movie
Oh bb who hurt you. . .
Always so amazing, your new songs always become my new obsessions. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us all
I would love a minor key cover of ""SIAMÉS - "The Wolf""
Awesome idea though!
This song literally inspired an entire storyline for something I’m making, so thanks for this beautiful cover!
He has these beautiful sad puppy-dog eyes that are perfect for his rendition of this wonderful song.
The more I listen to your voice the more I want you to collaborate with NateWantsToBattle
I never thought I'd see Nate on a video like this...huh.
Nate fans? Here? That was unexpected
That would be freaking fantastic
Ooh- that would be super cool!!
Oh wow! We exist outside of his channel?!
OMG your songs are always so beautiful and cool
Sr Sad everything is perfect except beautiful. Just a simple spelling mistake. (This comment is meant for you to fix your mistake, not to be impolite.)
beautifoul would actually be a great way to insult someone.
Robert Cook Thank you ^^
I bet "You Raise Me Up" would sound great!
His face keeps changing from smiles and frowns which really portrays multiple sides
This version screams "sociopath" and I couldn't love it more.
I've never known I needed to hear something more until now. Fantastic
Wow! Beautiful!
Your channel speaks to my inner Psychopath....Thank you....He's content now
How is he now?
Taylor T loser

I love all of your videos but this one is truly touching and stunning and raw. thank you for doing this classic. I didn't know I needed this so badly ♡
Such a haunting version! amazing!

GamingWithSnipe Arikumi yes do It!
Skillet! That's one I haven't thought about in a minute! Old Skool Christian rock! Right on!
That or "Feel Invincible"
GamingWithSnipe Arikumi or he could do hero by skillet, but I agree with you
omg i love skillet 😁
This is so amazing, Chase! Awesome video, even better voice. ❤ Off to buy it on Google!
(It reminds me of "This Night" by Black Lab... Omg)
Fantastic video, amazing cover as always !
I love your work, i feel so much things through your covers, and I thank you for all the good work you share with us !!!
Lovely twist on this song, great job!
I just love his minor key covers 😍
I was listening to the other minor key covers and.... I am literally blown away. Ussually I just listen and enjoy, but.... you are exceptional... thank you for your artistry.
Love your minor key videos. Truly beautiful voice.
It sounds like a song that would be in a scene where an important character dies and it's all going in slow motion.
Excellent job. I always enjoy your work. Keep it up.
You don't know how much i love this
The melancholy tone brought out by the key and temp change make the song better imo; Sinatra's great, but this song is so much more relatable this way - the original sounds almost arrogant or flippant in victory, but this says I'm beaten and broken but I made it.
came here from the wilburs way animatic which was just *chefs kiss*
Same it was really good
Same lol
Put in minor key and sung by Chase, this song sounds like a crazy psycho who plotted out a crime, and is now heading to their execution. AWESOME rendition Chase!
beautiful man with a beautiful voice singing a beautiful song. What else could I ask for?
this was the song we played in memory of my grandfather, and I cry every time I hear it. He loved Sinatra, and the fact that Sinatra is still loved today would make him very happy.
We've just found the song that should be featured on the new Joker film credits... This is so perfect... Chase, you've done it again.
