I discovered your channel not long after I had started following several of the other "fairly well-known" restorers of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, etc. die-cast cars, and I must say that you have definitely created your own niche, one that makes you decidedly distinct from the others who do splendid work in their own approaches. As someone who has obsessed over details since I was a young boy, started building models from kits (or assorted construction sets) very early on, has been a car nut nearly my entire life, and even was awarded a degree in Industrial Design following my (now increasingly ancient) Uni studies, your creativity and craftsmanship are very impressive and appreciated. I have enjoyed watching each of your videos to date, and your manner of presentation/speaking is a big part of this, as much as seeing the numerous improvements/alterations over the vehicles from their "original" state - this dragster Beetle continues that pattern. Best regards to you from the upper Pacific Northwest of the USA - looking forward to more installments in the future!

I've modelled for the best part of 30+ years and enjoyed mainly cars and bikes though I've always collected these little diecasts on and off over the years. After I restored one or two following a break fiddling with the real things I saw a few channels on here and thought I'd share my approach with my own style. Its wonderful comments like this and genuine interest in my work that is spurring me on so thank you. After only 2 months of uploading I'm over the moon how much its gained momentum. I've had my fair share of trolls and abusive comments believe it or not. Everything from my accent to 'im doing it wrong' & 'you're a $%*& moron'...... it was a surprise given the innocent nature of the channel. As I'm somewhat older and wiser it does make me laugh more than anything, but as long as theres those like you who enjoy these I'll keep going. All the best my friend from a wet and grey UK

My car love went; Matchbox, to Lego, to Tamiya. My first proper RC car of course being the Sand Scorcher. That was 1983. I still have one in 2019! Loved those cars, and this is an awesome homage to that model. Great stuff 👍🏻
@@stuartleckie Actually that area damn near killed me. I was a huge fan. So huge I had a dream to open up my own store and brand with indoor tracks. I was active on the Tamiyaclub site, I was the first some 10+ years ago to make a miniature garage to showcase my builds in. I sponsored events, gave away prizes.... it all went from strength to strength until I let 'friends' come on board and run it. Lost everything! My old videos of the store are actually still on here. Suffice to say the whole RC scene left me a broken man. A life long hobby, like this, I've left behind. You live and learn though.... family got me through it :)
SidewaysKing75 wow. I’m member number 2 at Tamiyaclub, so I’ve been into that scene for quite a while. In fact I’m currently building a nice Wild Willy out of 2 cars and a bunch of parts I’ve picked up over the years. I had to sell a whole load of my stuff when I moved to Canada in 02, but I do still have a couple of my little cars, including some boxed ones, but a much younger me thought it would be fun to plaster many of mine with Humbrol paint BITD so I think they are long gone now. Thanks. !!

I proudly displayed one on my Orion I Ghia back in '92 after an impromptu late night drunken trip to Newquay to catch the early morning surf. Happy memories indeed.
Orion Ghia..... Motor to have back in the day. I had a mate that wasn't the sharpest tool in the box to be honest and he thought the 'Orion Ghia' badge read 'Onion Ring' LOL! still cracks me up now. Even more bizarrely I had an impromptu 'lets go down to Newquay' moment to in 1992! My mates 1.4 Mk4 Escort with half his salary spent on massive Subs, Amps and Speakers in the boot..... Those were the days :)
I LOVE IT😍 I've never been a fan of coloured windows either, but some drag cars in the 60's & 70's had them colour tinted (spray tint or plastic) When you started painting the supercharger red, I thought;" Noooo!" but actually, that looks much cooler than a silver one😊😊😊
Love it! From the Tamiya deco to the custom wheelie bar... its great! BTW, for those interested, I did a custom Hotwheels R32 skyline and a 69 GTO. videos on my channel

If you put a tiny bit of solder on the wire where you want it to join and then a tiny bit on your iron too, your solder joints will melt together alot faster :)
Very cool as always, The thing that would "bug" me most is the front-mid engine in a beetle, It would be interesting to see how something like this would look mad max-ified though ;)

An excellent custom. I don't ever recall that exact model, though - I did have a bright green version, which was just called something like 'Volkswagen Dragster'. There was another VW, released in the 1970's that had no steering wheel - that really bugged me. There are several MB models sans steering wheel. I hated all of them for it.
I know what were they thinking! I drove my Mum insane as a kid "But WHY has it got no steering wheel" LOL! Funny what I hated as a kid I now like as an adult...... Like Carrots and Broccoli :)
Its at least 15 years old now, I got it from B&Q in the UK and was about £50 at the time I think. Its by Performance Power Tools and I've added and X-Y moving bed for milling operations to it which was about another £45 from Amazon. Its variable speed via moving the belt internally on the wheels and its surprised me over the years how much I've thrown at it.
Suggestion: when removing the two parts of the putty from the two separate packages use two different knives as well so as not to mix them and cause premature hardening of the leftovers.
Im restorating the same but me being a kid i decided to remove the old 5 layers of colour with a screwdriver 🤦🏼♂️.what can i say.the paint is satin black but its got a few deep scratches.i have a missing interior so what can i do?(you are the best)
Ooo I bet that hurt it ! Try a scrub with sand paper if you have any to hand if Dad hasn't got any paint stripper. For a starter interior you could always take another car you don't particularly like and cut that one up😁👍🚗
@@SidewaysKing75 thanks.well my dad said that the paint striper will completely destroy the car.we dont have paint striper either.sandpaper is the only solution but i had an accident with that too on my delorian dmc(it doesn't have left door line now🤷🏼♂️)

Its at least 15 years old now, I got it from B&Q in the UK and was about £50 at the time I think. Its by Performance Power Tools and I've added and X-Y moving bed for milling operations to it which was about another £45 from Amazon. Its variable speed via moving the belt internally on the wheels and its surprised me over the years how much I've thrown at it.
Love your work - my only slight complaint would be using a Big Blue, I've been hunting for one for years! The green Dragon Wheels is much more common

Suggestion: when removing the two parts of the putty from the two separate packages use two different knives as well so as not to mix them and cause premature hardening of the leftovers.

Im restorating the same but me being a kid i decided to remove the old 5 layers of colour with a screwdriver 🤦🏼♂️.what can i say.the paint is satin black but its got a few deep scratches.i have a missing interior so what can i do?(you are the best)
Ooo I bet that hurt it ! Try a scrub with sand paper if you have any to hand if Dad hasn't got any paint stripper. For a starter interior you could always take another car you don't particularly like and cut that one up😁👍🚗
@@SidewaysKing75 thanks.well my dad said that the paint striper will completely destroy the car.we dont have paint striper either.sandpaper is the only solution but i had an accident with that too on my delorian dmc(it doesn't have left door line now🤷🏼♂️)
Have you considered building a vacuum forming machine and use it to make replacement windows for the lil' cars?
I haven't to be honest Jerry. Maybe one day as its not the first time it has been suggested. I know what will happen...... I will be vac forming everything then LOL!
