I haven't watched it yet but it can't be that bad right..?
@@daymare0it's not
@@daymare0just silly 😂
most controversial food takes
Honestly after the first 10 mnts xD yes, this tittle works too
I like how they wait until all of the dishes are ice cold so that they will be as disgusting as possible
The only way to go lmao, 10/10
@@CharlieBarley its not like you could eat as you go
@@jotkaofficjal9249 LOL you def could or just not judge them based on temp??
@@triniroma4957I’m pretty sure they were being sarcastic lol
the true stardew valley experience would be to eat it an unspecified number of days after
I thought you used the new official cookbook that came out just yesterday and was VERY concerned
Honestly I became more concerned when I realized she did all this without those recipes to go off of lol
Same lolll
That would have been helpful to have for sure
@@CharlieBarleyredo time
That's what I thought. Why didn't they just use the cookbook and get edible food?
Me wondering where Charlie has been the past few weeks:

@@CharlieBarley WOW!!! The fact that you replied made my week💝thank you for making such amazing content!
I couldn't place why this video was making me feel vaguely uneasy until I realized the background music was OVERCOOKED and that made my subconscious feel very strong emotions
OH NO hahaha, my apologies 🙏
i also couldn't understand why i felt like i was stressed over something burning, i didn't even realize until this comment 😭😭
You have bad memories about that game? Lemme guess. It turned into a war trying to get your friends to cooperate with you? I get that feeling.
two people who don't cook prepare a tasting menu as infuriatingly as possible
Ok but if you didn’t accidentally cook a fish you intended to store or display somewhere then it’s not stardew cooking 😅
Also I would die for Pete
YOU'RE SO RIGHT, it should have been Pete!!!
This is the perfect way to celebrate the release of the cookbook! (Mostly as proof for why you need it)
Omg as a baker who has made plum pudding before I do not blame you at all for not making it the "traditional" way, that experience was genuinely the worst dessert making experience I've ever had, genuinely soufflé and croissants were a cake walk compared to plum pudding
Genuinely I watched half of one tutorial video and immediately decided to not do exactly that MAYBE one day lol
I feel like some of the foods definitely suffered from you waiting to eat until all the dishes in a category were done, and that you probably would've had a more pleasant experience if you ate them right after making them. Nevertheless, this was a really fun video, and I hope you'll do it again once you get your hands on the official cookbook; hopefully the food will taste better overall
I mean, at least it's true to the original Stardew experience, where you can throw a dish into a chest for 5 years and still eat in a cavern in the middle of the a desert after storing it in your backpack lol 🤣
"I simply could not control the sun" well not with that attitude you can't
I was so disappointed when she said that 😞
Live laugh love Andrew for taking one for the team in the snails. He a real one
There was just no way in tarnation that I could eat a WHOLE snail, very grateful for his sacrifice lmao
snails are actually a typcal dish (and super popular) here in Spain!
Laughing in french😂
@@andrearomero9593 tan populares no son, creo que conozco solo a una persona que los haya probado.
the upside down risotto plate, the caveman yelling over plum pudding, the smashing a coconut outside on the ground at 2am, this was the perfect video 100%
I saw this comment before the risotto section and was like. Tf you mean upside down risotto plate what did they DO. but now I see. Now I know.
"i feel like i just ate a mouthful of dirt, that's a neutral"
Charlie broke our hearts posting the end of expanded then disappearing for a month but now I think it's all worth it
Yesss
I’m from Hawaii and my family used to run a poi shop back in the day. It’s been interesting seeing how people tackle making poi. Commercially you’d use a poi mill which gives it a silken smooth consistency. Traditional way is with a wooden board (papa ku’i’ai) and a stone and the kalo/taro is mashed until smooth, mashing kalo this way is called pa’i’ai. Fresh pa’i’ai has a pleasant and starchy sweet flavor but you really won’t come across it very often unless you have family that runs a kalo patch haha.
Under mashed kalo can be very dry and crumbly and then seeing y’all mash the kalo with the fork … yah it would not be a love for me either 😂😂
Dude that sounds so good
I'm also from Hawaii and I went to a pa'i'ai workshop when I was at UH! I remember it took a REALLY long time to learn how to properly get even a tiny amount of the kalo mashed on the board (like a few spoonfuls), and even then what I made wasn't very good after spending a couple hours learning and my arms were sore. 😅 I'll stick to buying bags from the store lol
TBH I think all things considered, it wouldn't have been possible money, time, or skill wise to get the necessary supplies and make poi in one night, especially for two people who have never eaten it and don't live in Hawaii
Also, I will add for people reading this comment who aren't familiar with poi, that it's actually in the wrong category! Poi is actually a starchy side dish, like how other cultures will have rice or potatoes. It goes great with some fried fish or smoked meat :D
Also, if Charlie ever reads this and wants to attempt making poi again, I believe there's an instant powdered version you can order online! It won't taste as authentic but definitely will be a lot closer than mashed taro.
"I apologize if I'm Yucking your Yum". A full hour video condensed into one solid sentence. Feels like we need a second season of this as a redemption arc.
Literally with my seafood loving heart being broken at every turn 😭
@@elaynaroberson3262THIS oh my god. Like I loved the video but I definitely vibe more with Andrew here 😂

Your lucky lunch vs. the lucky lunch in the official cookbook has me screamin
All of the matching bowls and plates that Charlie foraged around thrift stores for made me so excited. Great video!!
Girl is going for perfection irl. Only a matter of time before she crafts everything
I don't normally leave comments, but I had to give a shout to Andrew for being a wonderful sou chef! Thank you both because this video was hilarious! :)
I love that you decided
"Yeah, let's do the most difficult route" and made it A RECORDING MARATHON XD
Instead of doing them in separate days more calmly😂
It's just gold, that's what this is.
Honestly, the fact that you two are still friends after this adventure is the real deal here 😂 Andrew is MVP for sure but also Charlie, this journey was incredible to watch and I really hope that you *really* had fun with it :D Good job!
i had no idea watching this would be so painful before happily clicking on it
as a cooking prude, this was a disaster from start to finish. as a lazy person, im so fucking impressed u have no idea. i have to sit down after cooking like half a meal. consorgaltions
Consorgaltions 😂😂😂
“i feel like it was quite good! i feel like that’s a like for me 😊…oh, are you good?” as andrew tries not to gag is literally killing me😭😭
Truly my favorite part lmao
Pro tip: add orange zest and pineapple juice to the cranberry sauce, zest adds flavor and the pineapple juice does the same, but also helps break down the cranberries faster
OOoh that sounds so good, I will definitely do that next time I make it thank you!! 😄
@@CharlieBarley NO WAY YOU ACTUALLY RESPONDED! thank you so much and I’ve found so many of my favorite things by watching you!
Andrew is incredible in this, your guys' dynamic is so funny and fun to watch. (the way he kept dancing as the miner's treat fell with your devastated face was *hilarious*
NOT STAPLING THE CHIVES 😂
Watching Andrew silently point and laugh at your pain at 59:22 really just capped it all off so beautifully
Yeah that was hilarious 😂
I would LOVE a sequel for this video with the official cookbook recipes!!! It'd be awesome to see you and Andrew back in the kitchen, I adored your dynamic and laughed so hard during the video so many times!
22:35 I think the algae soup could be referencing a Korean soup called "miyeok guk". It is usually translated as "seaweed soup", but we don't really have that in Stardew. The seaweed is usually cooked in somebeef or bone broth (not miso) with some meat and it is also usually served on birthdays (plus it tastes really good) 🥰
Ahh yes!! That's actually what we loosely based it on (although we clearly did it very poorly lol). I'll for sure have to make the real thing, it sounds delicious 😁
Patrick cult?!?!?!?! It wouldn't be a Charlie video without the formation of a brand new cult
Patrick motivated us all the way through to the end, it's only right
FDA states for human consumption fish must be frozen under -4 F for seven days or farmed since the incidence of parasites in farmed fish is practically nonexistent. That salmon was almost certainly farmed based on its color so you could have eaten it. For good sashimi get your salmon and cover in salt and sugar and stick it in the fridge for 45 minutes. Take it out, rinse it off in a bowl of fresh water then rinse it in another bowl of fresh water and you have delicious cured sashimi.
Okay, I don't usually comment on UA-cam videos but I genuinely CACKLED watching poor Andrew smash that coconut caveman-style in the rain, this made my day
Also amazing video in general! Just in time for the release of the Stardew cookbook too!💚
"carrots are loser parsnips" is such high praise, im about to roast some parsnips now 😂

Now I wanna see Charlie try the official recipes from the Stardew Valley cook book
It’s not often that you get to see people who can’t cook cooking so much stuff
This is BRUTAL. I would never be able to do this. So impressive!
Ok now that I’ve actually finished the video, I’m even more in awe. That was a wild ride!
hahaha truly one of the most challenging things I've ever done, but I'm now a PROUD gourmet chef 😌
Charlie getting more and more tied and getting progressivly weirder until playing eye of the tiger randomly... yeah that's a vibe 😂
I’d be eager to see this revisited when the official Stardew Valley cookbook comes out
29:01 also those look like they might be garlic scapes? Kinda hard to tell tho
I also thought scapes!
Gotta say, you cooked elliott’s favs the best, and loved them too! Pretty obvs that your love for him is true😶🌫️💅😎
TOO TRUE, I didn't even realize 😍 It's just meant to be
i think this is truly the most commitment i have seen in a youtube video in a while. lots of money spent. lots of time planning. lots of time cooking and executing, all WITHOUT RECIPES. amazing, amazing work charlie. very enjoyable.

yooooo fr
This was a glorious video, and had me entertained for quite a while. I found your antics and tomfoolery quite splendid, that was until 26:55, where you snapped the spaghetti in half. When I saw this, I yelled no at my screen, and from that point on, the only thing I could think of was the snap, which was an insult to not only me, but to everyone watching. What at first seemed like a fun and whimsical concept for a video was to be tainted from the moment you broke the noodles, shattered just like my enjoyment. While I shall still watch your videos, the whimsical nature of them shall always have a looming sense of dread from this terrible moment. I hope you are able to grow after this, and I wish you the best in life.
Andrew was such a trooper o7 We appreciate your help in Charlie’s cooking/baking experience. But also? 100% understand the banana reaction. I like bananas, but I too was fed a lot of banana flavoured antibiotics as a child so I can understand the reaction lol
thank you to andrew for valiantly saving charlie from the salmon fire of 2024 o7 let this be a lesson not to put baking paper near an active stove burner
As someone who loves sardines, your reaction to the entire time of experiencing it was amazing. 🤣
STOP THE FOOD LOOKS SO PRETTTTTTYYYYY you two did so good! I kind of want to do this with my best friend now LMAO I also love the detail of how some of the dishes also match the plates in the actual pixel art! ITS SO BEAUTIFULLL!
Andrew was the real MVP in the kitchen.
absolutely shook how many people are getting sweaty about the actual cooking in this. I LOVED this video, it was fun, I loved your vibes together and that you were having fun (mostly :P ) and the delirium setting in as you go on a massive cooking marathon is simultaneously hilarious but also a *lil* concerning 😂Hope you two got a well deserved break after!
Watching Charlie chop stuff up without the cat paws is kinda scaring me, like do you want to lose your fingers? ‘Cuz that’s how you lose your fingers Charlie, I WOULD KNOW
those tortillas hurt me
They hurt me too lmao, not my finest work
You'd have to be superman to overwork bread dough. Overworking is when you don't want very much gluten to develop (it can make things like cakes too chewy) but you want gluten to develop in bread.
thank you for the baking tip mememan5466
Actually, bread is affected a lot by the kneading and definitely can be overworked. If you’re trying to make a baguette with a bubblier, more hollow crumb, you only want to mix the dough to a short or improved stage. By kneading the hell out of a bread dough, you end up with an intensive mix, which has a very tight crumb, and less bread-flavor, which is why it is used in industrial bread bakeries, because all of the kneading means that the dough doesn’t have to proof for as long.
@@vanillaminaduki9016 it has nothing to do with the kneading time and everything to do with the hydration level. I bake baguettes at 70% hydration (for every 100g of flour 70g of water) usually and this is what causes the light texture. Generally, high quality baguettes are made with a more specialised flour which has a higher protein content to get more gluten.
@@mememan5466 Makes sense, but I think that in a no-knead or short mix recipe you could probably still overwork the dough, since that affects the interior crumb a lot. Out of curiosity, is the crumb of your 70% hydration recipe pretty tight, or is it more bubbly?
@@vanillaminaduki9016 in a no knead recipe, you still want gluten to form, it just comes in a different form. When you knead a dough, you're forcing the flour to hydrate and form gluten before bulk fermentation so you don't have to worry about it in the proofing time. In a no knead recipe, this process still happens but rather than the gluten forming because you mixed it, it forms because it has been given time and then whilst it is fermenting, you come and fold it to make sure it forms properly. 70% hydration is definitely enough to make a bread with big air bubbles but it comes more to technique than just that. Being gentle when you shape the bread so you don't knock out too much air and proofing it for enough time are both necessary for getting big bubbles. When you see people knock back bread doughs, that's to prevent bubbles. It is possible to overwork bread dough but it would take an absurd amount of time by hand so don't worry about it. Overworking it in a mixer is a risk but if you set a timer you should have no problems.
Sorry for the paragraph XD
Making a cooking video is always a bold choice. Everyone on the internet is a 3 star Michelin chefs, donchaknow
Okay I'll be honest, the General Grievous impression got me laughing so hard
also Bergentrückung before starting 19 recipes at 2am is a mood
Brian David Gilbert ahhh energy(this is not an insult, I love the Breath of the Wild Food episode)
i love the dedication of charlie getting bowels and plates to match the recipe
No one tell Charlie about the official cookbook that just dropped 😭
Lol fr tho this is seriously such amazing dedication! I'm extremely impressed you managed to get through them all AND get all the plates etc to match the sprites!
It was so impressive watching Charlie pull the strange buns out of the oven on just a SPATULA without dropping one, I would've tipped it over instantly... Well done
1:00:20 "that's all I have for today" after an hour of one of the most dedicated, time and energy consuming videos I've ever watched
When you commented on omelets needing cheese, I agreed with you... Then promptly went into my kitchen and made one. Then I put the omelet between two slices of bread, and made a breakfast sandwich. So thank you so much for prompting me to have my first good breakfast in quite a while. LOL
Could have replaced the radish with a starfruit slice, in that lucky lunch thing. Don't think it would have made a difference. ;)
I feel like asparagus would have been a better substitute for fiddlehead ferns, and they may not have needed a stapler either. ;p
Parsnip soup can be soo good, it's one of my favourite things, my parents have cooked it since we were little so it has so many good memories for me.
Our recipe is: peel and dice the parsnips and an onion, put them on a baking tray with 3 cloves of garlic, a drizzle of oil and however much of the following spices: cumin, mustard seeds, curry powder and paprika. Roast for like 20 minutes until slightly brown. Blend with vegetable stock until smooth and adjust seasonings to liking.
Enjoy! x
Ooh that sounds good!!! Thank you so much I’ll definitely be trying this, I had no idea parsnips are so tasty 😁
Yessss!!! This was amazing! And Andrew deserves a stardrop!
RIP Patrick
Tom Kha is my favourite food. When I first played sdv and learned Elliot loved it too, it felt like fate he be my in my game spouse.
Then I met Emily with her fever dreams about me....
Excellent job on this video. True dedication.
This comment was a journey I love it lmao
So much time and effort went into this (I can only imagine how long it took to edit!). This was a real treat to watch 🍰
CHARLIEEEE!I love it when you cook it so funny you and andrew are iconic
as someone who cannot cook, that you went on to cook so many different and new-to-you dishes in such a short time frame is insanely impressive
my one question is why on earth didn't you make corn tortillas. the recipe is corn. why would you use wheat flour.
Oh my goodness you absolute mad lad! I haven't even watched the video yet and I'm already amazed! The time and dedication this must have taken holy moly. Queen Charlie 👑
this is to painful but amazing to watch, i love it
A healthy mixture of both lmao 😀👍
Her knife technique is terrifying ^_^; Slide on an angle for safety! Never rock back and forth, especially with something circular! That's a recipe for a sliced finger or one chopped off ^_^;
Other than that, this video is adorable as heck. I love it :)
I love that you went as far as getting the correct dishes to put the food in. Such a little touch but also a huge deal. Love the detail!
I had no idea you could control the ebb and flow of time with your cooking prowess. 😄
The windows: 🌙 ☀️ 🌙 ☀️ 🌙 ☀️
im a MASSIVE sucker for games recipes but irl so this was always gonna be a winner but the combo of your dynamic with Andrew (brave soul) and the unhinged nighttime gremlin behaviour was SO GOOD lol, unironically took me back to working in a kitchen in the best way !! thanks a bunch for the dedication for such a huuuge video !!
you could do ANY follow-up of the official cookbook recipes or other games (a selection of BotW/TotK, spiritfarer, rdr2 online camp even) and id immediately smash like, it wad torture for this to drop while i was away from home this week !!!
You and Andrew had such fantastic synergy in this video!
I think your "fiddleheads" are what's called a garlic snipe. They are the leaf, and undeveloped flower bud of a garlic bulb, and they are one of my most favorite foods in the whole wide world! They are so good grilled, just get a little Old Bay on those babies, oh my lordy I'm making myself hungry. 😂
Man Charlie always gives us some high quality stardew valley irl content - this SLAPS! The amount of dedication you and Andrew put into this video is awesome!!
i’m CRYING at the edited fish in the thumbnail 😭😭 that’s not pete that’s peter 🐟
This is the first video of yours to ever pop up on my home screen and so it is the introduction to your channel for me. I love it, congratulations on your 80 dishes. As a baker myself I enjoyed the more exotic recipes and the desserts section. Andrew is amazing also, absolutely love him
I will subscribe
Also as a brit I'm afraid I have to put a dampener on your GBBO. It's not the show it used to be unfortunately. I am sorry
Girl a sardine will not kill you
Andrew as general Grievous was spot on😂
just in time for the official cookbook's release! this was so much fun, what a wild ride. i was hoping you'd upload again soon!! and of course thank you to andrew he was really indispensable to the cause
Ahh thank you so much!! 🥹 Truly couldn't have done it without him lol
Well done you two, this is the level of dedication and accuracy I’ve always wanted to see in one of these types of cooking videos. And what a mammoth effort!!! I love that you tried to balance making them look like in the game with making actual food and trying to use the same ingredients where possible. Very fun 😊
Breaking the pasta broke my soul (26:50)
I love eating sardines, so it was pretty funny seeing Charlie's reaction
The lamp in the background of the intro is stunning!!
Fun fact for futyre reference! Sashmi/sushi grade fish just means that it was previously frozen (this kills any parasite eggs in the fish, thus making it safe to consume)
So as long as you use previously frozen fish, go hog wild with raw fish at home!
I kept waiting for some sort of hat to drop in the opening, like this was just part one of three or something, but the fact you actually managed to do it all?? Insane!! Congratulations!!
Absolutely awesome job to you & Andrew! (The amount of time, effort, & $, holy cow.) Love that you thrifted the plates ect for all the dishes. This was so much fun to watch, thank you!
