    I currently only make and sell syndet bars. I think I’ve got a nice variety and great performance in my bars. They are much much more expensive to make! I have in the past made cp shampoo as well ( still make a cp pet shampoo.) I and most of my customers find shampooing is needed less often with this type than the cp bars and are mainly concerned with getting rid of plastics etc. But, I am working to formulate a better cp shampoo for those who want the more natural options. As per usual your information is excellent!

      My hair looks good for the first day with CP bars then I have to wash again. I use Apple Cider vinegar rinse as well. I’ve tried the samples from chagrin valley to try to find one that works. I know my hair loves clay washes. Just clay and water. Also just soapnuts and water my hair likes. Perhaps I’ll make a CP heavy with clay and soap nuts. So far my favorite Syndet is from Viori. What is your shop name? One day I’ll make a Syndet bar for hair. I’m still deciding on ingredients

    Hello mrs. Soap and clay! I’ve never commented before but just wanted to say I love your channel and thank you for this series. I’ve just started making cold process soap and always wondered how to do shampoo bars.

    Thank you for all information on shampoo and hair. I believe with your shampoo bars my hair and scalp will be able to heal. I've have tried everything except cp shampoo and conditioner. Thanks again. Excited to receive my order.

    Thanks for the conversation. I use sci/capb recipes for my shampoos and I really like them. I used shampoo bars on my hair for a long time and I had to rinse with vinegar water. That being said I have dry fine curly hair, and I don’t know what the experience is for people with different hair types.

    I'm so excited for the FAQ's!!!!
    Also, I've gone on a video watching binge of making my own melt and pour soaps. I blame you for this, and I'm not mad about it. 😅

    Would love to see a video on lye and toxicity. I saw a short by content creator where they said it’s toxic. I thought that can’t be right. I looked it up and saw blogs where people decided that because lye in its raw concentrated form was caustic and toxic if you ingest or get on skin, it was all bad all the time and it was a nasty “chemical.” Very strange. Anywho, thanks for sharing.

      Yeah, or claiming your soap is lye free, which I suppose is technically true as it’s all consumed during saponification, but intentionally misleading all the same.

    I use foaming apple in place of the coco betaine, the CB gave us all dandruff and just generally irritated our scalps 😊

    I would like to make a shampoo bar made with commercial melt/pour but I want to add castor oil and EO's. Do you have a recipe for that? I cannot afford the materials in your recipe and the process is too complicated for me.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 місяці тому

      Commercial bases are a bit harder to modify and since I don’t know the formulation, I can’t give the best advice. But I would start with adding 2% castor oil, 1% glycerin, and some firming agents (stearic acid etc) if it gets too soft. Or, you can add a sodium hydroxide solution with the amount of castor oil you’d like to the melted melt and pour, thus fully incorporating it into the melt and pour completely. This is actually more complicated than a recipe I put on the channel, so keep that in mind. Have fun!

      @@MrsSoapAndClay Thank you for that. I just cannot afford the extra chemicals to make lye based soaps and I don't know anything about sodium hydroxide, stearic acid, etc. I guess I will just buy a melt pour and add the oils and see what happens. Is there a difference between shampoo bar base and body soap bases (melt/pour)? Thanks!!!

    Hello, I'm new to soap making but I thought all of these ingredients were natural and derived from plants. I am trying to make all-natural products and everything that I see when I look them up is that they are from plants. Can you explain why you are saying they are not?
    Thanks

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  11 місяців тому

      Hey! There’s a continued debate on what natural really means in soap and cosmetic making. SCI, SLSA, etc are naturally derived but synthetically manufactured IE the end result does not exist in nature, so some take that to mean that does not mean natural. Others disagree, and I stand on the side of do what you’d like but make sure you’re following the government guidelines because these are synthetic detergents and therefore the end product can not be classified as soap.

    Thanks for another great video! Have you ever made/tried SYNDOPOUR 200-MB? I absolutely hate making Syndet bars, I feel like I leave a lot of product in the bowl, and it's super messy, but my customers love them. I think I'll test a cp shampoo soap for myself next and see how I like it.
