- Uber Freight is controversial because they are one of the companies pioneering DRIVER-LESS TRUCKS which will eventually take drivers jobs away. In this film we haul a load for UBER to see what all the hysteria is about first hand. We also haul a load from Florida to Iowa.
Indiana Jack even though your videos are long they are super fun to watch , it takes me back when I was trucking . Trucking is an adventure
Thanks Red, It was a great ride. Look forward to the next road trip. Keep on trucking.
currently getting my CDL A watching these vids gives good insight into the life id be going into, appreciate it very much
Your a blessing to ride with thanks for the invite
Hey am a international trucker for 29 years from the Netherlands.you are making real nice movies about your trucking, looking forward for the next one.keep on trucking
Thanks for watching all the way from the Netherlands.
The place I am working has driverless forklifts. They even self load trailers. They dump pallets all the time, and there have been some serious accidents. There is no way I would want to share the road with that technology. We are not there yet. Not even close.
The warehouse distribution jobs at least will be more automated to where at some point over 50% of forklift usage will be eliminated, especially certain types of purpose needs will no longer be used, like the high reach stand up forklifts used to put away and pick pallets in the racking systems.
@hudson Reason why it works is because it's in a controlled environment. If you keep automation robots inside an area where it has no interaction with humans or any outside interference then the robots are like clockwork and automation is flawless. Predictability and consistency is what makes autonomous work, but if you add in "unpredictability" you have a recipe for disaster. Which is why there is "ONLY" two method for autonomous cars and trucks to work on the road, ONE: Artificial Intelligence is at the point where it can make reasonable judgement and think for itself. TWO: you change all roads in the whole US to a controlled environment where there is ZERO human drivers. All crosswalk is a bridge above the road. All curbs have a barrier so no animal or humans can jay walk across a busy street. Until one of those happen I doubt we will see autonomous cars being a thing. Right now I believe the tech companies are banking on Artificial Intelligence being smarter, but that alone will take time to improve. I highly doubt the government will pay for controlled roadway since they won't even pay money to fix the current roads now.
That's awful
Thank you again Jack for another enjoyable adventure. I really enjoyed your guitar picken, rollin music selection. Great editing as usual.
Thanks professor. :-)
Great job, Indiana Jack. You do a great job with your videos!
Jack, every time I watch your videos, for the past several years, I am > ALWAYS < captivated by the music that you play, THANKS !!! OH YES, your videos are as real as real TRUCKING gets...As I have a history w/18-Wheelers...
Love your music, you have very good taste in music.
Another great video from Indianajacktrucker and ole red.
Enjoying your video's best on the youtube for trucking and # 1 on my list, good all around 360 degree coverage of what he's doing and going to, and hardly any complaining.

You certainly make truck driving look more laid back and relaxed than I remember it. For me, it was 16-18 hour days and lots of stress. I wish I had known your secret. I did it for the money but had no life for 12 years. Also, I was dumb enough to push myself beyond anyone's reasonable endurance and was really lucky to survive it with 1.6 million accident free miles. The money I saved put me ahead of the game but it was still stupid for me to have done it my way. I am now older and wiser.
I'm not a trucker but stumbled across your videos. Really really cool buddy. Much respect for you and your industry. I'm sure it's a challenging life to live but you seem to make it fun which is all that matters. Not sure why there are pin heads here who leave negative comments. Be safe.
Love watching your videos!
a really nice job on editing this video jack nice and relaxing to watch.
very well done jack, one of the best professional semi cross country truck driver's in the u.s. sam
thats good to hear, and always good to watch you brother
i retired in 1988 and I'm still here riding with you
Hang in there Eugene. LOL
Glad to see old red is back running. He sounds good. Hammer down Jack
Thanks Rick
Thank you for your service Private Alexander!
Great, I get rid of one addiction and create another. Your short clips are awesome to the point where I have to watch at least one episode before bed. Didn't realize Uber (Goober as we call em) was in the trucking business to. Be safe and stay between the lines.
great video Jack, dd you visit that big truck stop in Iowa ?
Indiana Jack thank you for your videos I don’t get out of California much I get see different area Thank you again be safe
NEVER gonna happen 100% ... I drove OTR for 40 years, and there is no frickin way any computerized truck could have negotiated, compensated, corrected, and rearranged the stops, detours, loading/unloading, weather conditions, mechanical failures both truck and trailer, that a human truck driver can do .... NO FRICKIN WAY !!! Maybe a straight port-to-port on the interstate, but that will be it. Even if you've only driven a four-wheeler, you know all the adjustments you have to make to compensate for traffic, road conditions, breakdowns, etc., so if you add in having to make delivery stops ... chain/unchain flatbed loads, open/close van doors, maintain reefer temperatures, as well as keep an eye on fuel, oil, water, etc..... it can only be TOTALLY accomplished by a human driver. There is NO NEED to worry about being replaced by a computer .... it will be a very small percentage of loads and delivery routes that could even be considered by a computer. Trust me, being a truck driver isn't just sitting on your ass 11 hours a day, you have to get out and do physical work either in loading/unloading, truck maintenance, and mental challenges that come around due to load changes, road work, mechanical breakdowns, and other shipping changes .... CAN'T BE DONE BY COMPUTER OR MACHINE ... you HAVE to employ a human driver to do it all. I'm retired now, but I call BS on all this "computer driven truck" crap.
Joe Black you say it’ll never happen but it’s already happening. They already have driverless trucks. They have it at around 70% rn. They need it at 100%.. give up about 20-30 years their will be plenty of trucks out there with no driver... never say never
nice jack how is it with old red turbo still goood.
Hi JACK, IM A RETIRED TRUCKER HERE IN THE UK AND WE HAVE TO PAY ON AVERAGE $28 FOR TRUCK PARKING AT OUR TRUCK STOPS.LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.
Hey Jack like to say Hey once in awhile ,old red sounds good again after your mini vacation/turbo 3 week ordeal another good vid thanks for the ride along ! PEACE : )
Assuming that uber works the same for freight, the driver rates the customer. Uber is watching the wait time. If the customer makes drivers wait 4 hours to unload for no reason, they will get a reputation from drivers of being a bad customer, and nobody will deliver to them. The data will back up the opinion - the customer can clean up their act and respect the drivers, or go out of business.
Over here in England we’ve been trailing driverless trucks 😀 it will never happen , who’s going to check the oil who’s going to fill it up with fuel who’s checking the Tyers , great video as always jack some fantastic scenery and however you Make your money it’s fine by me Uber or whom ever wants to pay you , keep safe
Hiya jack greetings from over the pond in the uk!! Great video again interesting to hear your opinion on uber. As for driverless trucks I guess u can't stop progress!! Sad thought though!
Another great video, didn't know Uber was in the trucking game. Take the money and run!
This is my favorite show on you tube, I hope to see you on the road it’s like “where’s Waldo”? Because I’ve been to 40 something states and haven’t seen you but I keep looking everywhere when I see a red Volvo I think it might be Old Red.
Good video like always Jack
Great video as always Jack!👍
Question, are you still running the KeepTruckin ELD? do you like it? Is there anything you don't like about it?
Hey Jack you ever get the opportunity to go through Clarksville, there’s a great little place there called daylight donuts. The best donuts I’ve ever had in my life. The couple that own that told me the last time I was there that they’re in the back making donuts at 4 AM in the morning every day seven days a week. Great little mom and pop place and nice variety of coffees
hello jack. ive been a fan for quite awhile now and i was thinking about coming into the driving industry when i graduate high school in the couple years, and i was wondering if you had any tips for me? thanks. i enjoy the videos. keep up the great work.
I like to hear about the different types of restaurants and food varieties you run across. Country Pride restaurant has great food. At least the one I ate at in Wapakoneta Ohio at the TA there. Great videos Jack! Thanks.
Yes, they serve some pretty good meals
I live almost 30 minutes away from iowa city!! I live about 10 minutes from mt pleasant!!
Jack,
I think a good name for your tee-shirt project would be "T is for Truckers", or "Tees for truckers and others". Good road.
Great video Jack, I Had a question, I thought it was just you but I then saw the perkins driver on this video; Why do you generally eat in your truck? I was never an over the road driver but having drove for UPS and Roadway, I could not wait to get out of the Truck to eat.
Another awesome video Jack. See ya on the road.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this trip. Safe travels 😎🇨🇦 Miles and miles of SMILES
I work in ltl (bullfrog). Interesting to hear your comments about Uber's possible impact on the ltl industry.
I wouldn’t be to concerned about driverless trucks, way to may problems to overcome in order to make them work. One, our road conditions are horrible in the US, second, it will only take one time for someone to hack into the computer system and steal a load, or worse yet, use the truck and cargo for mass destruction. If hackers can get into other company systems, they will figure out a way to get into driverless truck systems. Keep on trucking Jack! 😀
Exactly. This driverless truck shit will never work. They had one of their driverless cab/cars hit and kill a woman here recently. Get ready to spend those millions defending that lawsuit. Imagine that had been a driverless truck
Well, except for all those airport people movers... Or all of the fully automated metro lines across the planet.. Or Japan's fully automatic mass-transit rail line out of Kobe. Or the Lille Metro in northern France.
Nice perspective on the storytelling. Great job on editing!
Airliners can takeoff, navigate and land autonomously. There are still two pilots on board, in case of emergency. There is alot more truck traffic.
Your truck sounds like its running good from what I can hear. Eat Well and be bless Jack
What are the extra set of doors on some trailers used for? They seem to be hanging outside for no reason...???
Great video.. like to hear you chat about stuff.. love the truck stop food updates.
yumm toxic poisoned food, eat up
Hi Jack I liked the amount of money that load paid in Florida . But I missed the freight rate to Iowa city Looking back to my Trucking days in Florida I bet it was close to half. What say You Trucker?
you are outstanding at what you do Jack take it easy my friend
Hello, enjoyed riding along with you on this trip. I'm legally blind or I'd be driving a truck as well. So, i have to setle for riding along eith you. I enjoy and look forward to the videos you put out there. Stay safe and thanks.
Can you see enough to see the screen of videos or TV? Sorry to hear.
Yes I can. And, I have software on my computer that magnifies everything for me.
For those of you that think driverless trucks are going to take over, need to watch the movie Maximum Overdrive. I know it’s fiction but some great music. Driverless trucks are many, many years away, if ever. The first computer geek that hacks into computer system and makes one go off a ramp without applying brakes. That’ll be the end of driverless trucks. Plus if one should ever breakdown on the Cross Bronx By the time they recover it, the only thing left will be the frame. Can anyone imagine trying to get a driverless truck(with its freight still on board) into Hunts Point Market. I’d sure like to hear that first computer generated phone call to NYPD that you sent a DRIVERLESS truck into Hunts Point and someone’s trying to tamper with it. Lol
I want to see a driverless truck hook up a trailer and do a circle check
They'll hire Mexicans to do that.
A driverless truck is not actually driverless think about it, they is always a driver in the truck
I like the idea of a driverless truck. They can run the monotonous part. Get back to town . I hook up and to the regional part. Been regional O/O since 2003. Am doing just fine. Plus think how cheap an AI truck would be. Software costs maybe 4 grand. The truck would just be a power source on wheels (Don't need all the driver amenities anymore to go down the road). Lighter and carry mre freight. An O/O could buy into those also.
So when you came down to a trucking school I finally Took Sage Ave., Fort Pierce, FL. Yesterday was day two on the pad doing straight backs and offset parking. This coming Monday I do my alley dock and Saturday I go out on the road. I get to drive the old I think it’s a Freightliner in 05.
Well congratulations and keep us posted on your progress
Welcome back jack miss your vids
I put one out every Friday so stay tuned
Jack, your justification for hauling Uber loads is perfect! A perfect example of the Republican way of thinking. Rolling back EPA regulations, sabotaging the Affordable Care Act, weakening the Dodd Frank Act, etc. Sorry future generations, you're screwed! It's all about what is profitable in the NOW. One word, GREED. "If it's good for me I'm going to do the load. Sorry Mr. 20 year old" hahaha, awesome. It's not about "we", it's about " me". I appreciate your honesty. America is becoming Great again!
Will you ever try an european truck? Volvo or scania? DAF,Mercedes?
Back in the late 90s that Pilot across from the race track outside St. Louis was called something like Big Duga truck stop. The restaurant had a giant cheeseburger that covered over half the plate. Fries covered the cheeseburger. And those lots across the street were for overflow parking. Back then I never had trouble finding parking there. I needed to park far to walk off that giant cheeseburger.
Now its just fast food.
indianajacktrucker thanks for reply Jack. I remembered last night. The truck stop was called the Gateway Truck Plaza. It was operated by AmBest. And the giant cheeseburger was called the Big Duga. I don’t remember much about the truck stop except the Big Duga cheeseburger. Back then before every truck stop had pay at the pump they had guys that took you fuel info to the fuel desk and get the pump stated.
I hadn’t heard Uber was in trucking but I have heard they are going to try FlyUber in one of the cities
Your project name could be Indiana jacks convoy. Highest level could be named new red low old red middle could be repair time/ reset time
Are you referring to the T-shirt giveaways?
indianajacktrucker that and your patron levels you could use trucker terms for levels
Good video👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the T-shirt :) John in Québec
Add to your bad road list I-69 north out of Indianapolis 4inch deep potholes!
Shreveport Shaking Scale Factor 11 OH NO. When will it stop. LOL
Driverless trucking is just scary. Are we headed for driverless cars too?
How does UBER Freight pay? What % do they Take?
So... you use many brokers?
Looking at being a Broker too. Not sure if I want to be back in a truck full time or @ all but being a Broker has it's appeal too.
I always enjoy riding along with you. Hey if Uber provides the loads and that helps pay the bills and provides you money to nourish yourself I have no problems.
Courious your home base schedule?
Hey Jack hope your doing well these days. Got a question for you please sir. Does uber have any flatbed loads or is it all just van loads ? Thanks
I think it's just regular dry van for now
I read that everyone that got there DOT card. From that crook, has to retake it and fast. There only giving them so many days to get it done.
As for delivering to places like that. We Did a lot of that years ago. Vegas was a big spot for that. Deliver a van load of Bathtubs to the warehouse. They stored them until the new Hotel's needed them.
Where can i buy those outside cameras?
Where in Ocala did you stay? I live in Ocala and saw a metro trailer parked in a lot by my subdivision.
I usually stay at the Pilot truck stop there.
Good show Jack!! But a lot to ponder and think about.......
Glad to see ( knock on wood ) that your truck is running good !
Another great video!!
what season do you dislike the most snow or tornado season?
I like your comment on never giving a 10. We can always improve and should strive to improve someway.
I personally don't want driverless vehicles on the road. The most recent accident involving a driverless vehicle was in Tempe, Az. Fatal.
You make things go so smooth you never say anything about bathrooms when you need one ! how do truckers deal with that ?
If you try to cook a frog by dropping it into a pot of boiling water, it's just going to hop right out because the water is too hot. If you drop it into a pot of water at room temperature and then turn the heat up slowly, the frog won't know it's being cooked until it's too late. Don't be a frog.
too late, looks like jack kinda enjoys being the frog, he has his so screw the younger generation. sell out
Michael Hammer Absolutely, just like Socialism, place into thru increments, so the sports/porno/reality show: pop culture addicted useful idiots sheep do not notice what is going on, like the Google thing where you pay for goods and services thru a swipe of your watch, getting the sheeple used to the Mark of the Beast.
I wasn't going to go into the apocalyptic concept of this, but yes. People are worshiping technology to the point where we are about to eliminate our own existence. Technology itself isn't evil, but there are those whom will use any tool for evil. How do people not see this..?
Michael Hammer Let us not forger the quote from Albert Einstein, and I am paraphrasing , " technology will turn people into idiots" how true is that, they cannot read a paper map to get around, I can see for taxis and such, but why does the average person need a GPS device, truckers I can see, but they all get into trouble and almost die, GPS putting them on the wrong route..I will never own a GPS..
You'd be surprised how many people don't know how to read a map, or even balance a checkbook. I went through a drive thru once and they told me they couldn't make me a cheeseburger because their computer was down. The same thing happened to Vasiliy Agiy. They wouldn't sell him a pizza, that was already made, because their cash register was down. I have a taxi and limo service, and I drive every morning myself. I use GPS because it's convenient and I can send the customer an ETA to let them know I'm on the way, but I can still read a map. I once had a girl about 16 years old ask me how we found our way around before there was GPS, and she wasn't stupid. She was smart enough to ask. I guess they just don't teach that stuff in school anymore. If we ever have a solar flare, and the power grids or satellites go down, we're all screwed. Ya know that prediction about cars driving off the road and planes falling from the sky in the end times..? That's what's coming with these autonomous vehicles. All it will take is one solar flare to knock out communications and those things won't know where to go. They will crash and stop in the middle of the road, and even regularly manned vehicles won't be able to navigate around the chaos. I'm not just believing what I've heard, it's common sense. I can see this happening.
I'd like a T-shirt if possible. I didn't see a link as stated.
Thanks
How is the old red running
Good
how many uber loads have you pulled since
Paying for parking and eating plus paying for shower equals hotel room. Some hotels offer discounts to CDL holders.
Enjoyed the ride always stay safe my friend!!!
hey jack when you come though ocala again let me knew coffee at the petro at x368 is on me i work at the shop after midnight
Could you explain to us Europeans the difference between freeway and highway please .is one toll and the other free
I'm driving and it's hard to find loads my dry van trailer and truck are 23 years old
Detroit vs cummins which one is more reliable for long haul?
I have heard Detroit is more dependable.
Thank you for your advice sir Indiana I am 23 going to become owner operator this year and definitely will go with Detroit it give less problems and budget wise good on diesel as well.
You dispatch yourself?
Do uber pay 4 fuel at 3$ smile?
UBER is just establishing relationships with brokers, shippers and receivers now using current drivers for when the technology will make large scale driverless truck possible. Gotta have the freight to fill their fleet.
Can you explain uber or a link?
I really think it will be a lot longer than 20 years if ever, before driverless trucks will affect long haul truck drivers. Plus....you mentioned Arizona....didnt they just say...that they couldn't test driverless cars and trucks in their state anymore?
If you like Gyros. Or falafels. That TA in Antioch has a great little place on the other side of the parking lot.
When was you at the loves in Calvert City Kentucky I got fuel there on Sunday
do need my own trailer dor uber freight. or can I get away with a bobtail.?
Uber is nice for small bucks in between jobs so no problemo is guess, concerning taxi and restaurant uber ( kind of uber but another name ) here it is a war because normal taxis hate uber and the restaurants say booking through them is costing them money, so it is fun all over lol and cars and trucks on batteries np but where do we get all that electricity from when there is hardly any oil left the gas production is going too stop here because it is causing earthquakes in the north part of our country.
Great video loved watching it Jack.
It seems like most of their loads are water and beer which are very heavy so I don't think I will be doing many of them
