Slightly weird of her to do that, as he never would have given her negative feedback. And most likely he would have thought she was incredibly talented and knew her potential as a singer. So, it really baffles me that Amanda thought Simon Cowell had the potential to give negative feedback to a 6 year old.
Many people don’t understand how difficult it is to sing without music or any instrumental keys. She was pitch perfect! At least in my unpremeditated ear. A child’s voice singing that song, without instruments……it’s the only way I will ever listen to it again. When you hear her singing, it brings up every memory I ever had as a child to better my life. Best rendition of the song I’ve ever heard.
@@mattiemathis9549 This comment should have a billion likes!! And, don't forget, Connie had absolutely NO stage fright or nervousness! She was born to sing beautifully, and that's exactly what she's done in the sixteen years since then!!
I have a problem and have always had a problem with naturally producing vibrato since a kid, it’s singing smooth I have problem with. So there you have it. Not everyone is the same. Clearly Connie does vibrato naturally.
I don't even know how much I try to do vibrato, I found it a bit much in every word she sang, but I couldn't do it any better, especially as a six year old. I was chosen for our musical at school at 12 to sing in a few songs because they felt I was good enough but come on, that's a musical that every last grade before junior high does and it doesn't mean anything. I know my voice can be quite nasal nowadays and wouldn't dare to sing in front of anyone lol.
Love Simon's expression at 0:09. You can tell he's thinking' "Sh*t.... Hope she's got talent. I don't wanna be the a$$hole who crushes a 6 year old's dream". 😂😂😂
But 30 seconds in, it's cuts to him and you can see the emotion on his face....he saw her raw talent and angelic voice and was smitten to say the least.
A girl of her age to go on stage on one of the biggest shows in the world and sing *a capella* like that is amazing. She deserved to win, gutted she didn’t.
She should come back as surprise gast . Would love to see their faces . Connie is so much grown up and is still adorable and cute . Her voice is so beautiful. Can't believe this is already 12 years ago .
@Roger Thompson i know that she is 18 now . Still it is 12 years ago when she was on BGT as a 6 year old sweet girl ....she is still sweet and it is good to see what a pretty young lady she is now .
I've always said that nobody can come close to Judy Garlands version of this song, her version is pure perfection. But her version is up there with Judy's, this young lady is remarkably talented.
You could have heard a pin drop while she was singing! Such a beautifully sweet voice! An angel! Just heard her sing, 12 years older, and wow! What a voice!!
Looking back now that I'm a grown up, I understand and appreciate more and more Simon's decision to not sign her. She was too young and he only wanted to protect her, her childhood and her talent. He certainly didn't want her talent to go to waste. I think it was a hard but wise decision. Thanks Mr Cowell. Thanks to her family and him, she grew up to be an amazing young lady.
Absolutely beautiful ❤ at 2:24 you can see the look on Amanda's face like "I swear Simon, if you say something mean, I'm gonna beat you up." I thought the same thing and was so happy to hear Simon saying how fantastic she is
I'm 72 now and as a little boy the annual showing of "The Wizard of Oz" was very special to me. Here is Connie Talbot, this innocent 6 year old with missing front teeth singing an a cappella version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", a little girl alone on that big stage and the audience was not making a sound. I was in tears immediately.
She is angelic and pure because has only known love at that point in life. To her grandmother who is in heaven now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for encouraging her to share her gift. Bless your Heart.
...watched Connie last night, she’s a stunningly beautiful young woman with an amazing voice, loved her song and wow what a voice...she’ll go far......and her outfit was gorgeous too
I remember this like it was yesterday. Wow, Connie, look at you now. Just watch you sing Endless Love with Boyce Avenue. Absolutely speechless. You are amazing ❤️🇬🇧
I’d beg my grandma to show me this every time I went to her house when I was little. She’d always say she’s an Angel sent from God. I don’t believe in that stuff, but goodness she has a voice that makes me cry every time.
Her voice IS BEAUTIFUL and I was in tears the entire time. Her raising the key half way through was probably due to her singing a'capella, but it was still an AMAZING performance. She's a natural born singer, hopefully soon to be a star.
I just listened to her new song "All I Need" and had to come back to see her original audition. I watched it live and will never forget it. (All I Need is fantastic btw)
What a beautiful voice Connie has! What’s more, she had the audience enthralled by her perfectly- pitched voice! Just imagine her voice in years to come! What a child prodigy, and congratulations to her parents and her singing teacher😍🥇Connie, you’ll go a long way in your future singing career😉😍
Yeah, it is 2020, I'm here...watching this video for the 20th time! I don't care! That voice is Angelic! Swells my heart every time I hear it. Thank you Connie.
I realize I am late to the party, but my first reaction mirrored Simon's. She was pitch perfect. That is incredible. I saw video of her as an 18 year-old. She is still a fabulous singer. Congratulations to her and I wish her the best in her future success.
I used to watch her so much when i was in kindergarten i literally had a crush on her 😂 im 16 now its hard to believe how much time has went by and how shes grown up
would love her to come back on again and see simon's face, she has grown up to be a very talented young lady.
Elaine Brickwood Agree
She has a UA-cam channel
And she should sing sucker in front of em. They all gonna be shook... 🤯
They’ve met at charity events before when she was like 15/16. I think she should come back for a final on BGT, where they showcase all the past acts.
Elaine Brickwood omg yesssss x

You can tell she is singing properly. That vibrato!
Martha Bray You don’t often hear vibrato from someone so young!
Darcy Brummett I do all the time. Watch the voice kids. Tons of 7 to 10 year olds with great vibrato

Completely acapella and no other noise until that roar from the audience. Love it!

Cute little girl who has grown up into a beautiful amazing singer. I'd love her to come back as a guest on BGT.
It happened !!
Itty happend 😄
@itchydiscoman what
The decision by the judges proved to be definitely correct.
Simon: "she was pitch perfect"
Me: "Did i just hear that? Did Simon give a compliment???"
Yes he does!
And that is incredible!
A 6 year old singing pitch perfect, accapella no less, is extremely rare. Simon gives credit where credit is due, always has.
But it wasn't pitch perfect. She moved up a tone
Simon changed into a real person after his daughter was born. He is still tough as nails...but more like a catchers mit rather than the Bat.

how can a kid that age comprehend how to do vibratos????
well I guess she couldn't comprehend, it was just natural
