GREAT JOB! We are a film company and have worked on a lot of historical movies and documentaries. Well done and presented. Maybe next time a few minutes longer, show some more gear, uniforms, techniques, etc. Thank You GWMV.

I believe one of my ancestors was in the Revolutionary War. His name was Thomas Martin. I have been searching for his information for many years. This information comes to me through an Uncle's, Perry Martin's family history of the MARTIN FAMILY.

It must of been a real experience for these young British soldiers from poor backgrounds, coming from the slums of London, Liverpool & Birmingham. They had probably never been anywhere in they're lives, to be shipped across the Atlantic, not just to a new country, but a new continent, only to face death, defeat & ignominy

As soon as they got back they would have been sent off to fight Napoleon, wouldn't have too much time to think about it

@@keighlancoe5933 I think that war came a bit later (mid 1790's) but st least the Brits got revenge on the French, both in the outcome of the war & stole an economic March on them that last a century & half

@@christopherdenniston9798 that's true, I get the dates muddled sometimes, there were so many battles and wars it's hard to keep track.
I think it's a shame that the Revolution was ever fought in the first place, I think the US could have been born peacefully and amicably. On the one hand though, I can see from their POV: if they just let the US go without a fight it might signal to other parts of the Empire thinking they could just do the same, so they had to send a message in a sense that they would fight to protect the Empire. On the other hand, they had so much in common with the Americans, many of whom were of British descent; they shared the same language, protestant religion, culture and customs, and they became staunch allies for centuries not all that long after; it would have been the same if they'd allowed the US to secede, their relationship might have actually been even stronger as the Americans would probably be grateful they allowed them to go their own way peacefully and would hold the British in high regard. Imagine if they just became allies instantly, America could help Britain in many ways and Britain could have helped America; perhaps Royal Navy ships transporting American troops across the Caribbean could mean a larger US as they annexed these territories (thus denying them to Spain which would be seen as a boon for the British)

Agreed, but it was basically a civil war *& they are always the most brutal) America won her independence & all credit to those who sacrificed in her cause, but I always empathise with the ordinary man that suffered & died on both sides

i'm currently writing a historical fiction taking place during the revolutionary war. The main character is on the British side. I want to do as much research as possible to make it 100% historically accurate. this helped so much tysm!! :3

As a duel citizen of the UK and USA and former British solider I hate both sides and love both sides.
Would I fight on the American side back in the day... yup, dunno how many British Troops defected to the American side, but I would like to think I would be 1 of them.
