    I think I would try to mold it a little with a heat gun before I cut at it. Let me know if you ever try it and see if it clears any better. Id love to get the Falkens in that size if we can avoid that rub.

      I’ve considered that, but the fender liner is rather thin. It just doesn’t look like there is enough material to even make a dent and then there’s sheet metal behind it.

    • @TheAdamConners

      The fender liner is not backed by sheet metal as I thought. There’s tons of room behind there. Saw a frontier with the fenders cut out at Home Depot yesterday. I’m going to try the heat gun method.

    Offset and width of the wheel will effect that area of contact. It seems that some careful heating of the plastic area with a heat gun, you can probably eliminate that contact. I would not cut it.

    Would like to contribute.. No hijack intended
    The OE options for wheel/tire combinations available on Nissan Frontier for the 2023+ year were:
    - 265/70R16 (30.6") on a 16x7" ET30 with an offset range of 28-32mm
    - 265/65R17 (30.6") on a 17x7.5" ET30 with an offset range of 28-32mm
    - 265/75R16 (31.6") on a 16x7" ET30 with an offset range of 28-32mm
    - 265/60R18 (30.5") on a 18x7.5" ET30 with an offset range of 28-32mm
    As was mentioned in the video a 285/70R18 setup was used with a +18mm offset. That in most cases would give you a 32.7" tire 11.2" wide and a sidewall variance of 7.9", in most peoples looser opinion, a 33" tire
    What we always find in the aftermarket is the sometimes major shift from OE offset options corrected for wheel diameter, they make a S.W.A.G. (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) of the popularity and wide casting net of vehicles they can cover with the least amount of options, or the manufacture may just happen to cater to a vehicle platform overall, finding the niche in the market place within a specific community or three.
    You also mentioned you chose the familiar RC (Rough Country) lift kit. That in of itself is a spacer lift kit, or as RC describes as a "Strut Extension kit", also known as a leveling kit. Now they do offer a upgraded kit with a taller coil-spring and appropriate length McPherson Shock assembly for the 4WD only, but for as many times as I watched your video going back and forth,could not see the new shiny silver Shocks and struts and there was no mention of UCA's used which should be a foresight to anyone lifting 2"+, so we assume your setup is the PML variety (?) Correct us if we're wrong.
    Using your 285/70R17, that would give you a 32.7" tire 11.2" wide and a sidewall variance of 7.9".. You would be gaining 0.1" (a hair more in sidewall). Now we believe the issue is in the Offset Availability on the Motegi TE37 Look-a-likes seem to offer only a +18/00mm Offset for their 17x8.5 (6x139.7) wheels but keeping withing the +32/+35mm offset range would have likely made your rubbing issue Non-existent content, or at least a change of "Nissan Frontier on 33's: Check and get my trucks Fit" vid instead.
    Sure the eye catching wheel poke would have been far less presentable but amazing how much +14mm (0.55"in) can make. Its why the Grand Cherokee WL (22+) lift kit we offer has a specific spacer of 1.62" to prevent rubbing in the same exact situation with a, also spacer lifted (but uni-body not body on frame setup) 2.5" lift in a marketplace where 1.50" and 1.75" in are only available.
    Subtle differences in extra effort go a long way further when designing a lift and sometimes makes spending just a little more for a kit can be beneficial. Not saying everything with a bigger dent in your wallet is better, but planning out a build vs getting it done, can be also left to perceived value and pride. Would almost bet your OE wheels with same tires wouldn't rub at all, subsequently, especially if you removed the mud flaps.
    [[DISCLAIMER:: We know many people don't keep vehicles that long to get attached to them. Personally my daily is a 30 year old lifted lifted Ranger on 34's with 362K well modded but original engine/5spd trans; whereas my '20 Tacoma 3G has just recently turned over 24k on the clock. Likely wont get rid of either unless totaled out beyond un-repairable or they cheat on me with another driver [stolen]].
    NOTE: there is a build scheduled for the NEW 2025 Nissan Frontier in our favor..
    As for speed-corrections, we would say with the three (4) sizes mentioned above, specifically what your wishes are from the above OE spec option. The following difference was found at what we think are the basics of speeds that matter to most.
    20MPH ~ 20.7
    40MPH ~ 41.4
    60MPH ~ 62.1
    80MPH ~ 82.8
    Knowing those, no major speed corrections should be necessary for those low of tolerances. In comparison to say a 3-4MPH difference at the lowest speed, yes, but those are rather acceptable to be honest.
    Keep the rubber sided down folks, see you on the trails!

    In looking at those mud flaps, you might be able to take one off and get the dimensions off of it to have low profile ones 3d printed. It looks like the attachment bolts are recessed. If you print ones where the surface is at the same level as the bolt recesses, you should be able to gain some room. Maybe a 32nd or a 16th. It's not much, but it might be enough.

    285 will fit without rubbing if you remove the mud flaps, but only with the stock offset of +30, if you add any spacer or have a more negative offset then +30 your gonna need to trim. The 3rd gen Frontiers are super sensitive to offset. I'm confused about your tire height however, a Falken 285 70 17 should be 32.8", but yours measures at 32" or slightly less?

    • @D41Pat
      @D41Pat 11 місяців тому +1

      @user-wj1vq4tq6c not big at all. I used a oscillating tool (multi tool) with a metal blade to trim the pinch weld. It's this very tiny piece of metal behind where the mud flaps sits.
      Melt mod is when you heat the inner fender and push it back with something like a wood. You're basically creating more space by reshaping the black plastic trim. Don't pay someone to do it try it for yourself. Maybe come spring time I'll post a video on my UA-cam to show the current setup of my frontier and how to install the offroad gorilla rear differential breather kit. This kit is a must install since the rear differential of these frontiers are known to blow the seals and cause a slow leak or even destroy your rear diff overtime if the breather valve is clogged.

      @@TheAdamConnersdepends on the 285. Not all 285s are created equal. Seen plenty that fit without rubbing on stock suspension, only removing the splash guards.
      Ko3s will fit no problem

      @@TheAdamConners not all trucks came with them either as they are a option. Which is my point, you don't need "extensive" modification to make them fit and if the solution is to simply remove an add on.....I think you get the idea. For those who don't have the splash guards they can absolutely fit with no modification.

    Would a tire the same height but slightly narrower work. I'm in the process of getting a used 2022 Frontier and planned the same lift.

    • @TheAdamConners
      @TheAdamConners  Рік тому +2

      It seems only the outside of each tire is rubbing so possibly. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe a 275/70 or even a lower offset could work. These wheels are +18 offset btw.

    I have one more question please : Would 285 / 70 / 17 tires on 17 X 8.5 wheels- 0MM offset work on the 2024 Pro 4X ? I am going get the Rough Country 2" lift as well. Thank you ! I just don't want to cut or trim anything if i can help it.

      275/70 will give you less headaches. You absolutely will have to modify the fender liners with a 285/70

    • @TheAdamConners

      Honestly, I cannot remember that. I just checked on the inside of the rim and I don’t see a zero or an 18. Let me see if I can hunt that down for you.

      @TheAdamConners  7 місяців тому +1

      Appears +18 offset. It’s the immediate thing that popped up in my browser. And I trust that cause I went to that specific page about 400 times before I purchased.

      @@TheAdamConners that's another frontier thing that several have done to move the liners back out of the way. There's probably a few videos on it just get you a heat gun and heat it up so you can push it out of the way. Some have done minor metal trimming but I don't think you'll require that. What you will find will most likely be 2nd gen videos but same issue.

      285/70/17 is a 33 inch tire. 32.8 inch to be exact. Significant size up from stock. I have 0 offset wheels with 2 inch lift on my pro 4x with the same tire and I had to do melt mod and slight trimming. Good luck.
