    nice video, now we get to see the second phase :).
    I wouldn't mind having a grapple, but I have a skidding winch, can't have it all lol.

      I have a winch as well but i was thinking the small jobs that you just want the implement to be easy on easy off I have a 3ph trail hitch. I could just wrap a chain around that. I seen guys just wrap chain around a tow bar and the tow bar bent. Hope this helps.

    Dude, if you had a slip hook on your choker chain and a grab hook on the 3 point clevis your life would be way easier. Once around the log with the slip hook and the grab hook will connect on the standing part of the chain as close to the log as you want. Nice video.

    Not to knock this skidding attachment but why wouldn't you just use the top hook on the quick hitch? You would be able to pick the log up higher keeping more of it out of the dirt.

    • @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods
      @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching and the comment! Yes, if you already have a quick hitch installed on your tractor you could use the top hook. For those who do not have a quick hitch this could be a very useful option for skidding logs.

    Needs a little slot on top to hook extra logs or excess chains just a idea.

    Go to TSC, get a Log tong and hang if off where your chain attaches, you'll be happy you did.

      Hey +raptuous, thanks for the comment and suggestion! I actually had intended on picking on up from Northern Tool and just have not gotten around to it. I agree it would make the job a lot easier. I'll keep you posted (and shoot a video) if I do.

    Ah, too bad it went to firewood, it had some interesting twist and turns, and it was relatively dry, a wood craft school would have enjoyed working on it.
    I know, I know, you don't get money out of it, if you donate it to a local wood working school, but it's still a neat thing to do every now and again.
    Ah well, who knows, maybe another day. :D

    man-won't it have been great if it would of been I-Match compatible. still nice-and the price was right too. lol.

      @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods  6 років тому

      Agreed! It would have been nice to have it fit the iMatch but at least it gave me the opportunity to figure out how to remove it. The iMatch had not been removed from the tractor since we purchased it 2 years ago.

    If you already have a quick hitch (or I-Match for you JD folks) Why would you even need this attachment? Just use the quick hitch for the same purpose.

    • @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods
      @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods  5 років тому

      Thanks for watching and the comment +Darren Lemieux! Might be possible to just wrap a chain around the quick hitch but for our purposes I would rather use the log skidder and prevent any potential damage I might cause to the quick hitch.

    Hey new subscriber here! That attachment is really cool! I have a small Kubota BX that I use on my homestead and I am really considering this attachment you used. I checked out the Ebay link and they look pretty solid! We have 18 acres of land and that attachment I could find several uses for! Check out my page too when you get some time!

      Thanks for watching and the comment +Tim Henry! I have used a trucker chain (not a true choker but still works with a similar principal) to pull the logs behind the tractor.

    Nice video. I have a logging winch. A lot more money but I can reach log that are way off the road. I have some logging, fishing, camping videos on my channel, P.S. I support the paying it forward rage where a content provider like you and me subscribes to each another's channel. This way everybody gets more subscribers. Thanks Ray

      Thanks for watching and the comment +Green Acres (Ray)! I like the idea of a logging winch and may have to invest in something like that in the near future as we have some logs in a swamper area that we can't quite get the tractor into. Thanks for the sub and I will definitely check your channel out. Appreciate the support!

    You should lower the idle on that thing. It idles way too high, sound be about 750RPM.

    • @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods
      @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods  6 років тому +2

      Thanks for watching and the comment +Collin Zappa! Hard to tell which part of the video you are referring to regarding the idle speed.The tractor has an automatic regeneration cycle that it goes through every so often which will only allow it to idle at 1500 RPM.

      @@OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods Same with our 2020 JD 3032e, 750 RPM will clog up the filter. 1500 RPM's or more for newer tractors

    How are you able to keep tractor running with you out of seat. John Deere rates this as the number one cause of injuries. You had to circumvent this safety feature by John Deere.

    • @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods
      @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching and the question/comment +tgivensjr! As long as the tractor is in neutral (and I believe the parking brake needs to be engaged - I'll have to confirm this later today when I get the tractor out) the operator does not need to be in the seat while the tractor is running. This makes sense, otherwise I would have to sit in the seat while I'm letting it warm up for 15+ minutes on those cold winter mornings. Thanks again for watching!
