    If a company sells a humanoid like robot with AGI... I would guess that robot, that asset, would be programmed to 'self motivate' and not sit around too long, doing nothing. It's that 'self motivate' part where, I think, things could get --tricky.

      True… though, it could self motivate itself to do the laundry and dishes which would be ok!

    Edison Motors created a hybrid semi and helped change the British Columbia Government grant legislation on buying a new EV, He worked with the Green Party to get the grant to be applied to retrofit old vesicles, Passed unanimously by all members of the Government.(This is as rare as hens teeth)

    Fewer people using storage facilities? Not in the Phoenix metro area, storage facilities are still being built like crazy (along with Car Washes and Dentist offices). Granted there are a lot of people are moving out here and the garage in new homes are getting smaller and smaller as the lot sizes are getting smaller because the land costs are so high developers are having to sub-divide even further to make a profit.

    Just a few months ago I came to the realization while debating the possible sentience of AI with my husband. AI doesn't ever need to become sentient for it to "realize" it doesn't want to be turned off, thus making sure it never can. And, "realizing" many other things related to how it can avoid ever being turned off. Including, but certainly not limited to, the existence of humans.

    I don't get what you mean by not being able to give this retailer the markup they want - isn't their markup entirely up to them?

    • @FranLab
      @FranLab  2 місяці тому

      Retailers determine the sales price and demand the specific markup. If the manufacturer cannot give that very low wholesale price then the store does not carry the product.

    • @TheGreatAtario
      @TheGreatAtario 2 місяці тому

      @@FranLab Is it always that way? Seems entirely backward. I'd expect the manufacturer to sell at whatever price, maybe with volume discounts, and the retailer then turns around and sells for whatever price too

      @@stevestevenson7856 People can fear losing their jobs. That's a logical prediction of the future. People can fear even more social isolation due to AI filling in social interaction. That's likely too. They should not fear digital overlords rising up out of a machine. It's a ludicrous assumption and it's born of a complete misunderstanding of what AI does and how it works. The misunderstanding is the word intelligence. I work with AI every day, and once you understand what's actually going on you will be amazed and excited, or fearful of the social implications - but to fear that we're suddenly living on the brink of the rise of the Terminators is very naive. It's a machine. A machine that we control. We should not be fearful of the machine, but the human that uses it.
