Iida and Hatsume is a dynamic we simply DO NOT get enough of in this series. 😂
They have such a great "order meets chaos" dynamic that is ALWAYS fun to watch.
they're the best representation of "lawful good vs chaotic good"
Hatsume is genuinely brillaint, and that's even more impressive considering her age. She has even more impressive inventions than the one she made this episode, but she came up with an invention and modification that basically made it possible for Deku to continue his education as a hero.
she is legitimately one of the most underappreciated characters
She's one of my favorite characters and imo best girl 😮
Doesn't help that she's played by Alexis Tipton, one of my favorite voice actresses

I've always loved that All Might starts reading that teaching book. Too many people think that being great at something means you'll be great at teaching it to others. This show really understands that teaching is its own skillset. Gran Torino even calls him out: "He may be the world's greatest hero but in terms of teaching he's a total novice."

WEARING Dark Shadow is such an awesome concept, both aesthetically and in practice.
I think my favorite side detail from the Manga is that Ectoplasm is the Math teacher lol.

People really likes to do the joke of Deku noticing that he has legs.
But it's logical.
Deku is not a trained fighter. He doesn't know any form of martial arts. Until now he only used punches (not only because he was doing as All Might) because he was inexperienced.
Every time I have seen some (that didn't know how to fight)person trying to fight, they uses punches because they are more natural.
Pretty sure Uraraka is the ONLY person of the 40 with confirmed martial arts training. And I just think how much they could benefit from it.
Bakugo should learn boxing
Iida should learn acrobatic combat
Todoroki should learn Kung-Fu.
Deku should learn LITERALLY ALL OF IT.
All the kids should learn to be martial artists in their later years
I think the tail kid (ojiro) is a martial artist even way before season 2...

@@gregovaromoreno6318 I know he has a special one for his tail, but he doesn’t have any for the rest of himself. Isn’t that why he’s questioning using the rest of his body for fighting in this episode?
Adding onto that even as a pro fighter, literally just one new style of punch could take months of training to bring it up to a level that is usable in a fight. Adding kicks is basically a totally different martial art style.
If you watch the intros in order... it begins with Izuku watching All Might from afar. Then as they move on, he moves up to All Might, then steps in front of him, and now he only appears briefly to push him forward, and a glimpse of Small Might. :D It's really poetic, in a way.
I do like how this episode quietly shows how good some of the other UA teachers are. Power Loader is trying to keep Hatsume in check BUT trying not to crush her at the same time because he respects how much potential she has. And Ectoplasm gives an entire class (good) one-on-one guidance at the same time. He also provides an interesting example for Deku. If you look closely you realize that Ectoplasm has lost his legs, he uses a simple but sturdy set of pegs when in combat. This simultaneously shows Deku the risks of trying to keep using his arms, a reminder to the students it CAN happen to them and that they shouldn't have any lingering denial that they won't end up that way, but also shows such a thing is not necessarily a game ender and one can adapt in different ways.

Hatsume is one of my favorite characters in this show. The energy she brings when she's on screen is infectious. Alexis Tipton is one of my favorite voice actresses, and this role is no exception
Dude, same. She's SO MUCH FUN in this role, and the character feels SUPER underrated.
Speaking of Alexis Tipton, I hope they check out Kaguya-sama at some point, she’s great in that one as well

Such an epic moment when Midoriya remembers that, aside from punching, he can also kick stuff.
In Japan, a style of western submission wrestling is called "Shoot Wrestling," derived from the wrestling term "shoot," which refers to live wrestling as opposed to scripted exchanges. From there, various shoot styles have evolved, such as shootboxing, shooto, and shootfighting. I don't know if this is a coincidence, or whether the creator was inspired by the term.

The problem with this idea is that she has to touch her fingertips together to release her quirk. She could throw the hammer and then do it, but she’d be disarming herself every time she used it that way. If she just tried to hit someone with it, it might as well make a boop noise lol.
Get some killua esque yoyos or sum that is connected to her body 🤷🏽 she could also get a jet pack and use the zero gravity on her body
be like nighteye and use those small 5kg weights. He can hold them in between his fingers.
She made a similar thing during the first training exercise with comet home run or whatever it was. She could use debris as ammunition, there's plenty of it whenever there's a villain attack.
I'd love to see uraraka chuck broken columns and destroyed buildings at bad guys.
Just want to give a huge thank you for straightening the background plaque and sign. I’ve felt bad since I left a comment about it being slanted. I personally struggle with stuff like that distracting me and I appreciate the work you guys put in!
The joke about the gym's name is that its initials are the same as Tokyo Disney Land's initials

I think that for an intro for one of the episodes there was some kind of TV show that Mineta was watching that Midnight and Mt. Lady were on, and it covered Midnight's old costume and other stuff

We’re starting the provisional license arc now! We’ve officially winded down into MHA’s norm from what this season has done thus far. And I mean that in a good way. There’s as always MASSIVE amounts of growth for literally everyone on screen and that never stops.
Ok before we get into any further analysis this is my favorite intro as far as music goes. It just hits right. It’s probably the one I listen to most.
Deku waking up with an even greater pressure on his shoulders as he knows he’s forced to stand tall in absence of All-Might the symbol of peace is scary. How does this kid keep getting MORE pressure?! (And we aren’t even accounting what All-Might has YET to say to Deku) Also. Just HAS to cut into Iida brushing his teeth. That man makes air RUE the day they wandered near his elbow to his fingertip zone.
The Ultimate Move concept is just yet ANOTHER fantastic addition to the MHA quirk system. Thinking about how people maximize their strength in an instant through their quirks to get higher performance. Just GREAT. But if you listen carefully, it’s even better. They mark how you need to use a maximum burst of sorts to put an end to fights quickly. So that means it’s a high risk high reward as well. It’s RARE to use an ultimate move and NOT bring out your quirk recoil in some way shape or form. So it’s not a go to solution either. Looking at Iida’s recipro, yes he bursts and gets amped speeds, but he runs out of fuel SECONDS later. And it’s why I wish Aizawa says to everyone go plus ultra, and tells Deku, please just go plus effort. Because there’s a VERY easy ultimate move for him. And it’s called “I DON’T NEED MY ARMS PUNCH!”
(Also Uraraka says she wants to up her mobility with her new move. What new insanity is THAT going to be)
Each and every person has a method of development and a unique system that goes with their quirk. Increasing potency of Mina’s acid is a great one because if she does succeed, the opposite holds true as well. She can DECREASE the potency. If Momo makes 2 creations at once, who is to say she can’t make dozens at once or stacks them? If Ojiro’s Tail can get that jacked, can the REST of his body be equally jacked? (And if so, oh my god Ojiro might end up looking like Muscle All-Might or Endeavor size.) And it’s really not hard to advance how these kids might evolve. The possibilities are practically endless.
Then we got All-Might. I wanted to make sure I clarified my position on what happened to him in his Last Stand. (And that rescue mission stretch is called All-Might’s Last Stand) I think All-Might has physically lost the ability to bring stockpile energy into his body and maintain it. The stockpile energy does NOT appear to have gone anywhere. Today is the 1st time Deku uses OFA with All-Might unable to use OFA himself properly. And Deku doesn’t appear to be 60 TIMES stronger and All-Might still has his muscle form. So he might just be holding the true energy level for Deku til he’s ready. (Intentionally or unintentionally I’m unsure.) Safe move regardless. If Deku got the prime NOW he would nuke the training field at 5% and I DON’T think the kids, OR THE TEACHERS could handle that jump. So that’s an interesting development.
And of COURSE All-Might finding some advice to give to everyone is the class like a proper teacher (even if it’s from a LITERAL “For Dummies” book.) and STILL finds the worst advice for Deku. I get the sentiment. But when your successor is going to have the capacity to cause MASSIVE natural disasters in the blink of an eye willingly or unwillingly, you MIGHT want to find good methods when wild energy goes flying out of him when he tries any other power level. Regardless what limb he decides to use.
We also have the return of Mei Hatsume. And Uraraka is NOT having it. She is INCREDIBLY overprotective of Deku in this scene. Because although Mei hasn’t realized it, she is in the presence of BOTH guys she wants to be around more than any other for gadgets. She’s got literal Car Man in SERIOUS need of oil in his arms and Mr in desperate need of a walking hospital bed. And as she realizes it in real time everyone is regretting their decisions in life as they become test subjects. (Oh and this is the ONE time I think Deku might be overreacting for that mech armor that hurt his spine. Does he not recall All-Might’s butt literally made him sound like stepping on an empty water bottle? Either that or it’s lingering of THAT injury. In which case fair)
I’m listening to Power Loader talk about the design company for gadgets and paperwork submissions and that is CRAZY attention to detail on what you’d be authorized to use on the field since all the costumes are often large factors on the kids function in the field...with even added weapons too. I wish I could speak in detail on that but quite honestly I think Power Loader just scooped up some real world into their world. I can’t elaborate more than literal technicians and safety checks.
Hey, you got an actual wholesome Mineta moment without snark. Mineta actually sounds like wants Deku to go for a better costume and there’s lots he can go for. Even though always wearing what is based on the original costume his mom got him is simply too sentimental. But the new braces look good.
And Deku has chosen his new style. Shoot Style! Deku is going full acrobat. He has amped up speed from the training camp and has armor around his body. At the end of the day, your legs have more muscle than your arms. It’s not a bad approach. Bakugo fries through several feet of concrete in an instant, and Deku can literally CRUSH what remains. I wish he came up with this in a way that DIDN’T make him look like he remembered he has two other limbs he simply doesn’t use much. But that’s just a nitpick.
This episode is IMMENSELY satisfying to watch and come back to. The Provisional License arc is actually one I’m VERY fond of. Next time, we see the fruits of their labor.
So something that isnt talked about as much is marketability of heros in mha. Someone like ojiro would really need a good pr team for mainstream relevancy. Support course actually helps with this with gadgets and costume design. In a chapter of the spin off Team Up missions, they help a pro hero named Blackbelt with one of the most op powers, Fast Fist. When someone gets hit, they become unconscious. The problem with marketing this is all villain fights end in one swing, so no one is interested. However, the quirk isnt just one powerful strike as seen, its actually hundreds of hits to a pressure point in a fraction of a second. His quirk allows him to move his hands in superspeed. The user can move their arms that fast that it looks like one hit. So, Hatsume comes up with a support item to capture movements in superspeed. That way his fights can be seen and shown to the public
@@tobofu5978dude that sounds like freaking Goku using MUI for the 1st time against Jiren. He jumps and you see a few particles, then like 5 dozen hits strike all at once. That’s awesome.
Ojiro might not have as much trouble as you might think. I think he would have a fanbase for being both cute and JACKED. He probably would have a better time than Deku who terrifies everyone as he fights. Max power or no.

He may be a good hero, but he's no role model, later revelations of the story only reiterate this fact, he's a deeply flawed character that has very few redeeming qualities

Every time I see Hatsume, she reminds me of Girl Genius. Imagine a whole cast of heroes and villains like her wrecking most of Victorian Europe.

Um....is it strange that i find it weird that einstein is in the MHA universe's history? Like, not some fictional genius, just straight-up einstein?
One of the reasons I prefer the sub is because of the word Smash. In English, the one syllable means you have to drag out the a, eg. Smaaaaaaaaaaash.
While in Japanese the word smash had three syllables, se-ma-she, making lengthening the word much less awkward.
I wish you guys could put like three or four out a week. Can’t wait till you guys make it to season four.

This is another one of the shows low points for me. Deku's entire special move is "stop being a complete dumbass". I mean for crying out loud the FIRST time he used his quirk WAS with his legs. It is incomprehensibly stupid that he didnt consider kicking for this long.
Additionally, AP shot shouldnt even work as a concept, since Bakugo shaping the explosion would not change it's nature nor focus it's blast. The physical properties of his explosions are inherently fixed and unchangeable because they come explicitly from the ignition of his sweat via heat from his palms (which also makes it stupid that his costume has gloves of any kind for the record). Since the chemical nature of his sweat cannot be changed, neither can the makeup of the blasts. The second it moved past the opening made by his hand it should expand as normal because it contains all the same physical properties of a normal blast. The fact that it not only stays focused, but suddenly becomes a beam for no reason is some of the worst writing i have ever seen. I expect any author to be consistent in their writing, anime/manga does not get a pass on that. This show has some high highs, but unfortunately its lows are just as low.
This was such a disappointing reveal for me, everybody has such awesome powers or even if they're not that impressive, at least they had somethig to do with their powers
Kicking instead of punching is such a lame realization, i feel like the flicking attack is much more interesting than just kicking with one for all
