Love this match and the spirits that it was played in. Amazing by Djokovic to play this type of match just one day after playing competitively in doubles and of course in singles earlier. Seeing how he held himself going up to Sampras' family after the match as well, it's a really good show of how good of a guy he is. I used to not be a huge fan of Djokovic, but lately I have seen how great of a sportsman he is, and I'm definitely a fan of his now.
Im a Nadal fan since 2007 and i used to dislike Federer everytime i saw him play against Rafa. But over the years i learned to appreciate every tennis player that gives his best on the court woman or man. Doesn´t matter who is your favorite , tennis wins every time , we the crowd , the fans , the supporters , we win everytime.

That's amazing man and I'm not a big Novak fan but I wish we could all embrace the greatness in tennis rather than name call and label GOATS, even as a Fed fan that makes me uncomfortable but all these guys are amazing

Djokovic is by far a better guy than most Fedal fans trying to make him look.
He is certainly a nice guy, but it's mostly PR related. He couldn't stand that Nadal and Federer were way more popular than he was, even as the clear no 1, dominating the two players. IMO, he just does not behave empathetically. That's why he's trying to get more fans on his side by sending hearts to the fans after winning an important match, participating in this exhibition, applauding when an opponent makes a great shot. That's all fine, but it does not come in a natural way as fans also see the other side of him when smashing rackets, screaming at ball boys, asking the fans to give him a louder applause when he wins an extraordinary point and lately not talking to Nadal and Federer regarding the decision of Kermode's dismissal even though they asked for a meeting.

@@piner74 Federer and Nadal fans are just butthurt that Novak crashed the fed/Rafa party taking away their slams and masters titles. He has pretty much wiped the floor with Federer since the last 10 years. Pretty boy and his fans can't stand that. If I have a gripe with Novak, it's the fact that he is too nice a guy. But there are still people that hate on Djokovic.. Jesus what has he done to you? Maybe because he defeated your favourite tennis player? Federer is my idol from day one but the big 3 deserves equal respect, true sports on the court and outside of it.

Having paid for tickets the day before Saturday just to see Rafa vs Roger I was pretty upset the match didn’t happen. Although nothing compares to fed vs Rafa this exhibition match made up for it. It was awesome

You know, a few years back Pete and Andre did an exhibition with Roger and Rafa, things got a bit awkward halfway through. It's really a shame that both Pete and Andre are so much fun to hang out with, just not at the same time.

Why suddenly have this match?
Because another of Nadal's knee injuries happened in his match against Khachanov the previous day and he felt unable to play the semi at this high level. After a few minutes warming up on practice court 1 he decided against competing. So Tommy Haas (TD) arranged this exho one-setter [Sampras had been at the tourney all week as a spectator, presumably MouthyMac was commentating] to fill in the gap before the later session was due to start and appease the fans.
Just because you retire it doesn't mean you forget how to play, plus McEnroe and Sampras were and are legends of this game. Sampras kids looks so stuck up.

Ya. By having this match, they felt that they could morally keep the fan's money. This does not happen in any other event, much less sport. At the very minimum, they should have given back 50% of the ticket price. Also from a business perspective, by giving back the money, they are more likely to see those fans the following year. It really is a dreadful, short term greedy policy that treats the fans whom are necessary for the sport in a despicable way. It's not as if Larry Ellis, worth about $60 billion plus could not afford a 100k to make up the difference. When a singer cancels, it's a full refund. It gives a bad greedy image to tennis.
