Awesome , all i can say.
Crikey - just 'discovered' these blokes - outstanding......
I think that we can all agree that the upright is magical thing to hear.
Yeah! Have you heard him play with Martin, Madeski and Wood?
when played like that, yes
If you've ever seen reverend horton heat live you know how insanely loud they are
Great cover. Upright Bassist is killing it.
Pure and true. From the gut. ❤
The Wood Brothers doing The Allman Brothers... I approve.
Sweet variation; the Wood Bros know how to capture a song and own a piece of it.
Such a rich sound!
Wood Brothers at the Philly Folk Festival. Most excited I've been to see an act there in 18 years of going!
one of the better versions I've heard
Been a HUGE fan since discovering them in 2008...Got tickets to see them next month!!! YAY :) LOVE their version of this SO much.
dont know about the bass, one way or the other, but Oliver Wood is the most outstanding voice in music today.
imho.
You wrote this comment 9 years ago - and I think you're STILL right!
These guys are an absolute treat to see. They're actually opening for Zack Brown at Phillips in Atlanta on NYE
That man is beast on bass!
best version of midnight rider by far. and i love the way chris wood plays bass
dude owns it, love how he also chips in with a little percussion using it.
Excellent!!!!
Nice rendition
Holy shit never herd these guys before today....I herd a ton of crap today but nobody with talent......it's fucking shame.....these guy are awesome
the bass line is so perfect
you guys are badass!!! glad i happened across ya'll. George B. Murray County GA.
They are amazing!
oh Yeah! Groove it baby!
Wow, so good!
Fantastic cover! Love it!
Oliver sounds fucking amazing. Chris, too, for that matter. Too bad this song didn't stay in their repertoire. Magic.
Crazy good
I pretty much agree though I will say that Gregg Allman's version on his 1st solo album is a slower, mellower version....albeit, still a little mysterious. And Gregg wrote the song so.......
a pearl!
fucking badassss intonation on that bass fiddle .. holy cow!
Nailed it
Agree to disagree. i love it.
He sure is!
so dope!
more upright!
B ASS
love IT!
very nice!
Lovely
Yes boys Chris is one of the finest but I hope you guys don't discount Ollie. The guy is amazing and always performs with a gentlemanly humility that allows such a project to work. I'm so glad Super Wood Bros. got together to make my favorite band/game. lol 1337 Skills! Anyone wanna take a stab at the meaning of this song? I'm curious what you may think.
Gentlemanly humility.
Love that. 🙏
I looove a REAL bass...
I would be interested in showing this youtube video on my local tv show if you don't mind. We play charity ads for free.
Good cover
HUGE bass sound. Anybody know if he's using gut for his D and G strings?
@shogunjobu Chris is is the Wood in MMW.
any connection to Madeski, Martin and Wood????
Joseph Doherty yep the the bassist Chris wood was a member
If y'all like this you should check out Oliver's long time project/original band, King Johnson.
do the brothers ever come out California way?
lmao
Maybe you should ask Greg Allman.
Church and State.
Nothing to say here...just listen
Typically I love the Wood Brothers, but they kind of treat every cover the same, right? Here I think they sucked a lot of the life out of this tune. This is not meant to be mellow and sleepy, it's meant to be energetic, wandering and a little mysterious.
1) No, not really. 2) Disagree, but hey! it's subjective. 3) Says who?
looking at the comments below makes me laugh --No this isn't good, this is absolutely horrendous,it's an insult to The Allman Brothers who were from the south and not from a bunch of nerds from Colorado 👎
I always prefer the originals. But of the 57 covers of this song, at least these guys try to make it their own. I liked it.
