- Natural Resonance | Wonder of Temple Architecture and Acoustics | Srinivasa | Sikkil Gurucharan
Taking a short break in between "Jannal Oram" shooting at Anantya in the Village, Alwartirunagari, we decided to shoot a few songs in the nearby Adinathaswamy temple.
What you hear is the LIVE/UNPROCESSED sound recorded using the lapel mic pinned to the shirt along with the resounding reverb and the rich equalizer that is naturally present in the chambers of the temple precincts. What you see is also the natural light that shifts from muted to bright in the FIRST MINUTE of the video. A divine play of Light and Sound, indeed!
An architectural marvel and a singer’s dream. No wonder our music flourished in the temples at one point in time.

Wonderful Devine soulful rendition. Thank you
Mellifluous rendition of Hamsanandi ragam .Totally mesmerized. Remembered a krithi by my paternal grandfather Lalithadasar T.G.Krishnaiyer " paavana guru " an impromptu composition in the same ragam sung by my father flutist T.K.Radhakrishnan in the Guruvayur temple .
Chembai Swami was impressed and this served as a bridge for their friendship.
Just wanted to share .
Lovely God given voice

Awesome!
Thanks to Sri Sikkil Gurucharan for a melodious and expressive rendering of “Srinivasa!” The temple acoustics were indeed flawless. As with everything about temple architecture, the acoustics were as important as the aesthetic appeal.
Thanks for listening
Touched the Heart 😊 Thank you Sikkil Ji
Awesome!! The temple premises enhances the divinity of the song and the Bhakti in your voice.🙏
This is divine singing 😔
This means, whenever or whatever you surrender in front of his lotus feet, that will become Devine. The sadham becomes prasadham.
🙏🏼❤மிக சிறப்பான பாடல்,பாடிய விதமும்,குரல் வளமும் மனதை குளிர்வித்தது

Noise has been proved to be a risk factor of physiological and psychological health. Therefore, creating a high-quality acoustic environment for people is particularly important. Thiru Gurucharan your aims of this study to explore the basic elements and identify the definition of a healthy acoustic environment. Through the method of Temple Sthalam reveals the origin “sound sources and acoustic environment " .
Thank you for this commendable excercise ,and as usual I have been your admirer of your vocal Timber

Waiting anxiously
Sublime. It transported me nearly 45-50 years back in time to when I would be seated in our Sivan Kovil (Kottaiyur village near Karaikudi) and the resonant structure would amplify and reverb the soulful rendition of thevaram by our odhuvaars. Occasionally the Nadaswaram playing a Charukesi or a Shanmugapriya aalapanai would transport you to another dimension. Our temples have such rich acoustic characteristics
That is an ethereal experience indeed
The stone pillars resonate and enhance your already sonorous voice.
Have noticed the resonance from nagaswaram, so it does work with voice too!
Yes. thank you
Now we know why oothuvar thevaram sound spl in temple
Yes
Resonance to granite .water absorbs and so are sound and deep Immersion , very hard to get that a ousting from timbre out of speakers and thermocoal or rosewood from stereo symphony theatre built to Roman and Italy sound designed theatres on slate roof
❤
Great insights with scientific input! thanks
Divine 🙏 heart melts with your music ❤ thank you for this research/mission. Celebrating our rich heritage and culture and spreading that is commendable. Thank you 🙏

A dip in this "Then Aaru'" has made this evening so blessed. The " Jaganatha"was a goosebump moment everytime🙏🏼. And at the end when you sang Srini VAA Sa, the pigeon flew in. Beautifully sculpted pillars, fantastic play of light & soul stirring music. Thankyou for this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
You noticed that! Thankyou so much

Yeah I noticed the bird fly in too. What a nice touch it gave fluttering / applauding at the end! Although I had my eyes closed at times as I listened to it many times (still am 😊)!
Magnificent! 🙏🙏🙏

Ah such lovely Hamsanandi, goosebumps! Great acoustics too. I’d think it would’ve been even more amazing in-person! Perhaps temple architecture might’ve incorporated those acoustics. I think the Rameswaram temple (or may be others too) had columns that sounded like mridangam! Thanks for sharing!
❤❤
pleasing to the ear....thank you from Bengaluru

Awesome ji 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 🤗
Condescending Sir. Both your music and the temple ambience. The praharam typifies today's many temples' praharams left abandoned. With many started leaving for the US say from mid-70s 10-day brahmotsavams don't happen. The cars have turned safe hide as toilets. Compulsions of times!!!
With the blame upon us no meaning in accusing the other factors. Sanathanam needs no one else to wipe it out but those who had left for greener pastures.
Sorry sir. Felt like sharing my anguish. It includes our family too. When we visited our village recently Jameen temple in Trinelveli district we found only Bats hanging upside down in praharams. 1980 was when car run last.
Your music is the only source of inspiration. Kudos to you sir.
Condescending?? Anyway, I understand your anguish! But let us not lose hope. Cheers.
@@SikkilOfficial Tku sir. Condescending - usually employed in a negative sense that someone taking care of another with a superiority outlook.
But here in context, what is wrong when you present your great music, elevating pasuram and kriti to the thousands like me, who know nothing beyond listening to great music of yours?
