    Disclaimer: My apologies for the lower visual quality of this video due to the compression. The puzzle piece of my brain that understands technology is forever lost under a couch cushion somewhere.😉I am a great learner, just a wee bit slow. Thanks for hanging in there.
    If you have the opportunity to come here in March, there is a very good chance you might experience this immense pre-spring beauty, in solitude. You can visit one of the farms, or google a flower map, and find the fields on your own that are in bloom. You will discover that not many crowds clamor for this particular photo opportunity.
    So… I had this crazy idea to set the alarm before 4am on this rare sunny Saturday. I wanted to film something a little different. I felt called to pay a visit to…
    The forgotten flowers.
    The daffodils.
    I have my reasons for loving them.
    Why are they forgotten, you ask? Well, you see, most people are either flocking to the cherry blossoms, or impatiently awaiting the arrival of another flower… the star of the show. In a few short weeks the neighboring fields will burst into hundreds of indescribable colors, and the people will come… oh yes, they will come. In droves! They will cause traffic jams and parking fiascos as they crisscross this otherwise quiet valley, just to steal away with a memory or two of the high and mighty tulip’s reigning rainbow of glory.
    But…
    What about the daffodils? Are they not glorious in their own right? Is one shade of yellow too monotonous? I suppose it’s all in how you perceive beauty. A symbol of new beginnings, joy and hope, these lovely trumpets of gold are to be cherished, not forgotten! Why, you can almost hear them singing to the sky a song of gratefulness for their existence! They are beautiful!
    Please join me as I follow the crescendo of dawn into day, beginning with the sun’s rising, just before it crested the rumpled peaks of the Cascade foothills, until it cast its luminous morning glow across thousands upon thousands… of pretty, dew-dropped, dancing daffodils. Just being present with them… kinda made me want to dance, too.
    I had two whole fields to myself. In fact, I saw less than ten people the whole time, but those of us who ventured out were there, because we knew, there was something extra special about catching this happy little flower in bloom, glowing so proudly in the morning light.
    I hope you get a sense of the day, and the promise we are all given of hope. I discovered that in reflecting upon the quiet beauty of these flowers, they become much like a bridge between that which we can see and feel, and what we can’t. They are, in their own right, an expression of what lies deep within all of us. Can you find it?
    “I am the daffodil that blooms
    In early springtime’s sunny rooms;
    I sway and dance in gentle breeze,
    A joy for all the eyes to please.”
    -Emily Dickinson
    Thanks for tagging along as I continue to learn. And thanks once again for taking time to read my (many) words. Enjoy the misty break of day, the lovely flowers and the old farmhouses, the cameo of Mt. Baker, the graceful birds and the bluest of skies… this one was fun. Maybe I’ll get back up there to give the tulips a go. Maybe. We’ll see. I’ll catch ya next time!♥️

    Michele, one word G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S !! This is absolutely a spectacular film! The magnificent daffodils, yes - but also the magical sunrise footage … the birds and fowl of the air “singing” morning praises! Oh I wish I lived closer, I would have hopped in the backseat for this. You captured every moment beautifully. A wonderful Saturday morning watch! Thank you!
