Hi. I’m Brazilian living in US for a very long time.
I never met an American that moved out from US to South America and yes, I admire your courage and determination and start a new life in a completely new country with another system of living and culture.
I did it too but we have a completely different story.
I ❤ USA for many reasons . I learned and grew up so much in different directions. It’s an awesome country🔆🌻✌️🫶⭐️.
I ❤Brazil too. Our language, food, culture, music, dance, history are phenomenal. It’s an awesome country🔆🌻✌️🫶⭐️.
I wish you both a great life in my country with peace, light, grace, love and joy of Jesus✨✨✨✨✨✨✨Cheers🥂🥳🥂.

There are many Americans here in Brazil, of course that not as many as the opposite, because the US is much more often in our media than Brazil in American media (and in general more in case of tragedies or something exceptional). So, many more Brazilians idealize the US than the opposite and Americans think that the country and Latin America in general are poorer than the reality because of the big number of immigrants there. Americans living here in Brazil are often people who came as tourists or because of their work and came back. Now, many "digital nomads".

Our other option was moving to South Carolina which is where my brother and his fiancé bout a home in Conway. They love it there. My husband had been mentioning Brazil a couple years before that and I kept hesitating. I was thinking about how far from my family we would be just finding work and if I was able to adjust to something so extreme. Farthest out of the state Iv been was to St Thomas and Canada lol so South America was a whole different thing. So given the state of the country, it helped with my decision a lot more realizing the US was going downhill and the other thing was the food, I got sick with crohns disease back in 2014-2016 and I believe it was from all the chemicals in the food. So that also made the choice to leave easier as we would have better quality food.
I then sold everything, paid off all debt and then packed 3 bags to move down here lol.
Its been a journey but I really do love it here. From the vibe of the people, to the food, climate, and many more reasons why Brazil is better than the US for me and my husband.
I look forward to watching more of your videos. 😁✌

WOW. Did you just come and stay in 2023 instead of just coming to see how it is? You were braver than me.
I took a trip here and spent two weeks with my daughter here in 2022. I actually spent a lot of time in different countries or at least long enough to see the culture differences. Europe, Asia, but not Brazil! LOL Although while here I new I was only seeing the big city life I did get to see the country side and that was most important to me.
You are right the food is great and quality is a lot better. Fruits and vegetables are crazy good and so many different kinds. We recently planted 16 fruit trees and have 5 or 6 more waiting to go in the ground! Of course there is the meat too! UG now I am hungry. I also agree about the US. I won't get into the politics but it is getting harder even for the middle class I can't imagine how it is for lower income people.
I am glad you like it here.
What state did you move to? Rio Grand Do Sul is right next door to us?

@@JimSmithBrazil I came down for two weeks in July of 23 to see how things were. Get a little idea of life and how the vibe was down here and if I'd adapt to it or not. And I fell in love. My mother-in-law has farm land there and its beautiful. Shes is in Paraíso do sul. We are in Rio Grande do Sul near Santa Cruz. We live in a walkable distance to the city center. When I first came down, I stayed near the farm mostly and we went to the city a few times because we needed to go shopping, so I got to see how the stores are, and how things in the city center were.
The mountain views and openness, and all the green is what made me love it. I like that even the cities have trees and lots of vegetation around them.
So after my two weeks I said I'm definitely coming back to stay. My husband stayed down here and I flew back to NJ alone to settle all my debts and sell my car and belongings and then by Oct I was heading back down here alone to stay. Start a new life with a good change of pace. Its such a nicer vibe down here. The south has more of the safer states so I'm told by locals and have read doing some research about the state, so I feel good about my choice. People here are very friendly and welcoming. Tbh I thought they would dislike the fact that I'm from the US but they actually are very nice towards me.
Yes, the food here is phenomenal compared to the US. I love the churrasco, and it fascinates me that all they do is salt it and slow cook it over the fire and the flavor is amazing. We use too much spices and sauces in the US and here the meat is the main star of flavor. I agree, Fruits here taste better...I tried a mango and usually didn't like them when living in the states but here, they are addicting and so sweet. Bananas taste better, even their fast food is better lol. I haven't felt sick once from the food since being here. I fear when I go back to visit family Ill get sick from all the food there due to the chemicals.
The countryside is amazing and beautiful and I have seen wild monkeys and toucans, the monitor lizards and cute little geckos. Im not a fan of the cockroaches or spiders but thats my only con here really so its not so bad lol.
The language is also difficult, I can read it pretty well, and when I hear someone speaking I can break down what they are saying but to speak with someone it is very difficult for me.
I love the work life balance they have here, and how the family structure is still a thing, also they have more benefits for working and the 13th month bonus is something the US should pick up lol.
There are so many things I love about Brazil that I find myself asking "why doesn't the US do this? Or...have this?" Things just make sense here.

WOW. Like a kindred spirit! Everything down to the cockroach are my exact feelings about here! LOL Thank you for the background information. You two week stay was the same as mine only thing different you did it all in one year! I feel I have a sister in a Brazil now! bwahaha.

@@JimSmithBrazil 😁 Yes! That is what attracted me to your story as it was similar to mine in the journey to come down here to Brazil. .I didn't hesitate to come down only because my husband stayed and was waiting for me to get down here and also I didn't want anything to make me second guess my choice.
I did get home sick for a bit but then eventually I adjusted being here and now I can enjoy everything whole heartedly without feeling like I left everyone behind. I do however try to tell my parents they should come down here to retire but I don't think they are as adventurous as me lol. I think eventually they are going to head for South Carolina near my brother because NJ is getting too expensive for them.
The part where you talked about bringing your pets here is something I struggled with as I had 4 cats that I had to leave with my parents as I was too scared to fly them down here. My one cat has a heart issue and asthma and I fear that something could go wrong during the trip. So all my 4 boys are back in NJ but I wish I could have brought at least one. I'm just lucky and thankful my parents offered to care for them.
Yes, A Sister from another mister and Brother from another mother lol 😄

I struggled this year with missing my two girls and 4 granddaughters and one grandson back home. That has been hard at times.
Pets. Oh boy that had to be hard. At cargo in Sao Paulo my wife almost got in a fight with them. She was pissed. Long story. However a Federal Police officer over heard her and pulled her aside and talked to her. Her Portuguese was flying off her lips. He saved us basically. He got us in the back so we could see our pets and then helped us get the paper work finished. We ended up missing our next flight. Had to rescheduled cost about 2,000 more in the end. We had left New York on Saturday night. We didn't get to our rental in Nova Veneza until Monday morning at 4:30. Our dogs were glued to us for a week! Cats not as bad but the were in hiding for two weeks at least. Worst part of the trip.
Glad you are hear. I kind of don't feel so alone now! 🤗🤗

Bem vindos!
