Solid video, dude. I totally agree that Spartacus is the film with the least of Kubrick’s voice in his catalog for many of the reasons you mentioned. However every film of his since Paths of Glory explores his critique of authoritarianism in some way. As one of the most powerful auteurs of the medium, Kubrick often despised the amount of control studio executives had over his work (despite the fact that dealt with a lot less pushback than most ambitious filmmakers). Spartacus is definitely a film that conveys these criticisms, even if its director is expressing them with one arm tied behind his back.
I'm probably gonna rewatch Spartacus, it's a great film, maybe the most entertaining Kubrick film (alongside Dr. Strangelove), packed of film stars and (as someone said here), full of iconic moments such as the battles, acting and the score, to think Kirk Douglas made this project cause he wanted to make his equivalent to Ben-Hur starring Charlton Heston.

I just rewatched it to make this. It holds up. Great movie
I'd argue he got have got the same without being quite so abusive to people on set

definitely not the same. every cause has an effect. so those results are directly because of how he was now could you argue that it would be just as good? totally he was that talented but it would not be the same
NOTHING "WEIRD" about this film dude...this click ait is obnoxious ‼️‼️

did you watch the video? clearly not. the weird part is the fact that it’s extremely different from all his other films. which i explained. it’s an outlier in his filmography. so if his other films are the norm within the context of his body of work by definition this one is weird. your comment is obnoxious. watch the video before giving your opinion otherwise it’s invalid and meaningless
Yes I watched the video..and it didn't match the clickbait thumbnail...it's a slur on the film BECAUSE most people will not go beyond that heading..will NOT watch the video..and will remember that someone said Kubrick's Spartacus was "weird"...THATS WHY I OBJECT

There is absolutely nothing clickbaity about the thumbnail if you watch the video then if you read the title I further explain “by his standards” which is true. It is a weird film by his standards period.
Jeez do you really double down like this about every off handed frivolous comment like the one I originally made as if it is of ANY consequence... I have completely lost track of what (and why)you are going on about . haven't the time for this..okay okay you win..now please no more of this okey dokey

lol you commented and you’re mad that I’m responding to you? Ok ✌️
To me, Kubrick is the master of the iconic moment. Spartacus isn't the most Kubrick-esque movie, but goddamn it has iconic moments
Totally!
Kubrick's weird movie was his normal movie
lol facts

Thanks for the back story around Spartacus. I've also wondered why it never felt like a Kubrick film.
No problem! Just sharing what I know
Fantastic video as always
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking my stuff out consistently
Spartacus is my favorite movie. Everything came together to produce a masterpiece.
It’s fantastic
2001 is also amazing.

Great video. Subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
Any way of turning the yellow subs off?
Spot on. Great video bro.
Glad you enjoyed it!
TBH, I had forgotten he had directed this. Definitely not one of his you can recognize based on his bulk of work.
Doesn’t feel like he made it at all
*Spartacus you Thracian dog!*
Kubrick needed to chill out a bit tbf
Maybe but you can’t argue with his results
I'd argue he got have got the same without being quite so abusive to people on set

Great stuff but ya don’t need the hard coded subtitles man. (Some spelling/syntax is wrong… eg rain vs reigns)
I need to proof read haha the reason I have them is because I know a lot of deaf people who love cinema. I was just being lazy this time
Keep it up! Subbed :)
So 12 movies in total no writing credit for Spartacus :)
well, he didn't write his other ones either.
@@karlkarlos3545 Shinning (1980) Screenplay by Stanley Kubrick.
Correction: "Stanley Kubrick made a lame movie by his own standards" XD Hahahahahahaha
