Thank you for your video, but I realised that for my folding bike with v-brakes when I pull on the rear brake lever, one arm of the v-brake doesn't go back to its original position. I tried adjusting the screws as per your video but it still doesn't go back. It looks like left side is further from the rim but the right side is nearly kissing the rim.. Tighten the right side and loosen the left side makes not difference to the situation... Tuning V brake is very difficult
In such case, it could be the spring problems of the caliper. I experienced that before. Especially Avid Single Digit v brake calipers. They're poorly made. The balancing/centering screws are horrible. Upgrading your v brake calipers Is a good idea. I recommended Shimano Alivio. Bit expensive. But they last for years. Besides, it might be the rims' trueness. Sometimes the rims are not straight but we didn't notice.
@@bikeguyhk , I agree with you that Shimano has good braking because I used it with an adaptor when I upgraded my 305 wheels to 349 wheels. . The problem why I gave up shimano for lite pro long arm was because I could change the brake pad without loosen the cable tension. . I had considered replacing the V brake with a C caliper to solve this problem. But the issue is that, I realised that because my cranset is big, hence there mighr be chain inference when i shifted to the highest gear. I wanted to be sure b4 I pursue this direction, yet the agony I faced is the inability to find bicycle store that has C caliper meant for folding bicycle and to make matter worse, these bicycle stores will either dismiss me if they realised that I upgraded my wheel or they offer me the same option of installing long arm. . The range of Long arm is restricted to Litepro or brandless type as demand for such product is low.
Great video! I tried to install the Baradine brake shoes and now it looks kinda weird. From a "H" looking brake (cos the pad I wearing), it looks like a super "\\//" brake now. LOL!! Is it fine?
Thanks buddy. There are two differently-sized round "washers" on each side, which can be installed reversed, to determine the spring tension how "V" shape the caliper is. Very "V", i know. As long as they work, it's fine. 🌞
