Thank you for this! My Dad was a student there when it was Faith Seminary and not gutted or stripped of all its furnishings. I can remember as a little boy wandering around inside as well as descending those stairways about midway in this video. Brought back a whole lot of childhood memories. We lived on Heather Rd, a couple of blocks from there.

I find it so frustrating that the church that currently owns it just won't well it for the amount they purchased it for. Its going to be ruined if its not sold soon. What a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship. I think this captures it so beautifully. thanks for taking chances so the public can view it. Its American history.

While I don't advocate trespassing, I want to thank you for your effort. I have often wondered the present condition of the marvelous Lynnewood Hall. I just did not expect it to be in such deplorable condition, and this saddens me. It is one of the crowning achievements in Neo Classical architecture in America, and it is truly a shame to see it like this. I fear that this once grand mansion may go the way of the wrecking ball unless someone rich enough wants to spend the money to restore this grand mansion.

    • @archneme4614
      @archneme4614 6 років тому +7

I thought it wasn't in that bad a condition but yeah I would love to see it saved. It's 110 rooms so it is massive . Wikipedia says it is estimated it would cost $50 million to restore it to it's former glory which seems optimistic. A realtor says it could be renovated for 3 to 8 million which seems very optimistic.

having just suffered through two other tours of Lynnewood - one of which was a sanctioned visit - the kid doing it Corey something or other was so jerky on the camera and kept SNIFFLING through the tour and finally kept just slamming in this "epic" music that I had to abandon his tour - was getting motion sick and physically sick listening to him suck up his snot. Production quality on this is top notch - beautiful photography and even on the explorative footage I was able to experience the splendor of this Guided Age echo. THANK YOU for taking the time to actually craft the piece. Subscribed.

When A.B Widener died in 1915, the last remaining son Joseph Widener inherited the mansion. Then Joseph died in 1943, and neither of his children wanted the responsibility of the home. So it was left abandoned and in disrepair until 1948 when a developer bought the mansion and land for $130,000. Would you believe that!?

However, Lynnewood is not in use by that church and remains vacant. the gentleman whos son and grandson died on the titanic died in lynnwood hall in 1915, From 1915 to 1940, the spectacular art collection at Lynnewood Hall was open to the public by appointment between June and October. durning WW2 It was used by the military to train " military dogs"

The issue I had is that the pace was too fast for me to truly appreciate what was in the photos. Rewinding over and over doesn't work well on UA-cam, would much rather have had the photos up for longer each time. Thank you so much! Great job w/ the video, production work, and selecting a beautiful & perfect soundtrack w/ a timeless harmony that really captured the awe of this palace. I replayed most of it several times, but this was partially b/c some of the images changed too quickly. I love how it's all perfectly in sync, and it's a great display of editing skills, but if you held some of those shots for 2x or 4x as long, it would prevent having to pause or replay sections as often to get a better look at the details (though you'd probably need to loop the beat in places to compensate).
As if it wasn't sad enough what happened to the Titanic, of which Peter Widener was an investor, and his son & grandson who lost their lives on the ship, it's a damn shame what happened to this home. How many times did it get vandalized? There's no way something that well-built could have fallen apart that badly. Some of those rooms look like a bomb exploded in them. Whoever acquired it from the Wideners should have had a security system installed, when that tech became available, and a couple of 24/7 security guards to keep out derelicts & thieves. Considering how much money it's worth, I don't know why they didn't invest in occasional renovations, regardless of whether it was occupied or not. It's pretty tough to sell something that massive and expensive that looks like ruins of a haunted house.

It’s for sale for 12 million, considering it cost ten times that to build 100 yrs ago, and was the first mansion so big it had its own power station and required a staff of120 people to run it, it’s BIG. Mind blowing Ly BIG! Seems that at that price there should beSOMEONE willing to buy it and spend the estimated 500 million to renovate, to preserve a piece of history that literally could not be built today... it’s actually bigger than the whitehouse and considering it’s sat empty for decades it’s not too bad off. Try leaving a McMansion vacant with no heat in PA winters, see how long it lasts. 5 yrs? And these guys were inside don’t let the disclaimer fool you. Has anyone just simply asked the caretaker for a tour to record it’s beauty?

So let me get this straight, the Korean Church has hired a CARETAKER, but what "care" has this useless waste of flesh and breath taken of the place? Is something wrong with this person's back that prevents them from getting off their duff and picking up some of the mess inside the structure? If you are going to hire a worker, at least get some true "work" out of the deal....smh.

Lynnewood hall needs to be restored so that she doesn't meet the same fate as her sister Whitemarsh hall which was the third largest home in the U.S. until she was demolished The Sister home Whitemarsh hall was right down the road from Lynnewood hall

Only if the government would restore it to its former glory, who doesn't know about the titanic? I am sure it would have tens of thousands of visitors annually which would quickly cover all costs.

That was FUCKING AWESOME!!!!! HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET IN THE LYNWOOD MANSION? It was very sad to see how its been let go. It bothers me that the government thinks nothing of it. These old mansions are so historical and beautiful and yet they just detieorate and go to hell. We could make these museums.

What a shame it is to see this magnificent mansion falling apart.
as it's apart of history with its connection to the titanic. It would be great to see
This mansion restored and used a the titanic museum this would be what's in the best interest
for this great mansion as a museum and restaurant it would pay for itself in the long run.
But in the end this mansion will most likely go the same way as most of the other great historical
mansions have to b demolished. What a shame and waste this will be.

    • @brianbommarito3376

katya03316, to build anything new they’d have to tear down the old. A curse on anyone who takes a wrecking ball to Lynnewood Hall, such a piece of History. I wish all the investors in the world and the government would stop spending money on fruitless wars. $11 million to purchase and $50 million to restore, it is a lot of money to most of us, but to them it’s pocket change. I wish we had back some of the many hundreds of millions of dollars that was spent to build tanks and bombs to butcher human beings in mass slaughter. It would’ve been better spent restoring Lynnewood.

the camera shot of the kitchen shows a refrigerator that is probably from the 50s maybe the 60s and the two coffee decanters are the ones I grew up with back in the sixties ...somebody was obviously in that house way after 1917...they would have had a ice box at that time..
