      Same with me! I've finally come to the realisation that it has to be finger detangling and then gentle with a wide tooth comb. Brushes whether the Felicia Leatherwood or EZ detangler are just too rough.

    You can still wash your hair without sections and not experience tangles and breakage. You just need to know how to. When using ayurvedic powders or diy, washing in twists is a no-no if you don't want residue on your hair. Washing in sections can also lead to tension breakage due to the partying and water falling at the same spot regularly. Some people will notice shorter hair strands at those spots but won't realize it's the result from washing in sections. Whether you wash in sections or not, you need to know how to and pay attention to your hair. Do what works for you and your hair. Great content and thank you for sharing 🙏🏾

      @Mona Whitaker If you understood my post correctly, you should have noticed that I didn't bash her or said she was wrong. I said you need to do it correctly and do what works for your hair. I don't need to tell you anything about my hair but I'm going to anyway. I've been natural for the past 10 years after successfully growing relaxed hair to waist length. My current length is bsl because that's the length that works for my lifestyle right now otherwise it would be longer. I don't need to be on UA-cam to prove that I have long beautiful natural hair. Black women (BW) with long natural hair was never a myth for me as I am one myself and know some others. UA-cam is only helping us show to the world out there that us BW do and can have long beautiful natural hair if we do the right thing. I was lucky enough to have an aunt who owns a hair salon and anything I said I have witnessed with my own eyes and talking from experience. I can wash my hair with or without sections and be fine but the way I handle my hair when washing in sections is different than when I do it without. I know naturals who have never wash their hair in sections and have anywhere between bsl and waist length hair. Their go to style is either a wash n go or one long braid. And I'm talking about "4c" hair. The same way I know BW who must wash their hair in sections or face breakage and tangles. Each hair is different and you have to do what works for your hair regardless of what someone may say or what you think your hair should be doing compared to someone else's. Peope here on UA-cam talk about their hair and their experience and what they say is only a suggestion not a must. Try it, if it works for you fine but if it doesn't, move on and try something else instead of forcing your hair to do something it can't do. When you know better, you do better. Thanks to UA-cam, BW can now show and share their experience but women here aren't the only ones out there with long hair and UA-cam isn't the only platform. Back in the days we used to share our experiences on platforms and hair forums such as fotki and longhairdontcare. So when you read other people comments, please take your time to make sure to read very well and understand before being all emotional about it. In other words we are here to support each and if you can't take constructive criticism or other people opinions, experience, and knowledge maybe you shouldn't be on social media. Sad part is out of all the people on here, you're the one who felt the need to say something when Obaa Yaa didn't say anything herself and this is her channel not yours. Let's please try to be considerate and united as we are all trying to help each other out. Peace and thank you🙏🏾

      Nubian KmtWQ, I also do not wash my hair in sections and my hair is quite long. The first time I was exposed to washing hair in sections was UA-cam videos. I massage the shampoo gently on my scalp to minimize tangles at the root before applying the shampoo to the length of my hair to clean my hair strands. As you indicated, we should do whatever works for us.

    • @nubiankmtwq6333
      @nubiankmtwq6333 3 роки тому +12

      @@miniminott48 Thank you for sharing your experience. I really appreciate that!
      What people also tend to forget is that we generally wash in sections when we take care of our hair ourselves for multiple reasons that I won't list here. However when our hair is washed professionally at a salon, it's never done in sections even when it's someone who specializes in natural hair care...let me rephrase that, I have never heard or seen hair being washed in sections at a salon or people complaining about their hair being tangled (excessively) after a salon shampoo. If someone have had that experience, either tangled hair post shampoo or section washing at a salon, please share cause I really want to know. Thank you🙏🏾❤

      Whenever my ends tangle uncontrollably it's a sign for me that a trim is needed. Which is why I don't have a fixed schedule.
