Mounted archery is an ancient sport that is gaining popularity in various regions. What do you think of the skills required to participate in this activity?
This could be a world recognized sports someday. Doesn't look easy at all to master. These people are really amazing! Thanks for sharing National Geographic.
Is very difficult because you have to learn two different skills /sports and maybe more depending on the horse you use and what your natural balance and eyesight is like. Not sure about world but pretty sure it's recognised at a national level in most countries, the UK and Georgia I've known of people practicing and competing in it.
It is actually recognized in the Martial Arts Olympics! After our championships in Sokcho S. Korea they invited us to the opening ceremony it was a very good day
Very disciplined and complex sport and it's positive to see the promotion of gender equality in sports I'm curious why the Olympics haven't noticed it's potential in both athletic and entertainment appeal
I'm Indonesian and have no idea where this is, I'd like to know. However it is true that archery is growing in popularity in recent years from what I've seen here.
Think you've gotta have ridden horses to appreciate the skill needed for this. I use to know someone who did this in woodland and the targets would be set at different distances in dense woodland.
Yo I know some of the people shooting in this video! They are so nice can't wait to see them again someday, perhaps at the Korean world championships again haha
👍 They have to master their skills more. Turkic nations and Mongols backwardly seat on horseback and shot composite nomadic bow and none enemy in world can stand against their light cavalry.
**ORIGINS** in the Mongolian and Ottoman Empires? What is the point in writing it in a way that implies that's where it's from when they emerged like 2000 years after it was invented?

One of the incredible sport in Indonesia. Proud with this country.

The Asiatic music is highly appropriate.

Good video
The real masters of this shoot only when the horse is airborne thus providing a stable platform for the Archer
there’s a similar sport in japan called yabusame, same concept but the horses are faster and the targets are smaller
I like how they let the females participate, too.
Agreed!
is it that surprising ?
I think that it's because many people are under the impression that Indonesia, as a mostly Muslim country, follows very conservative practices.
I think they had no choice but to let them. Or else the SJW gang would troll them
PantsB4Squares
What's SJW tho?

Annisa Fitri no
. Its dilan land...luculand
You know, if I ever get married, I want me doing mounted archery to somehow be part of the ceremony or maybe my reception entrance
Think about the skill required to fire an arrow on a moving horse at a moving target. That's some crazy stuff.
You should check out Lars Andersen. I'm pretty sure he'd win the gold if this was an Olympic sport.
But he,The prophet of Muhammad (may peace be upon him) have a better skill.not just horse ARCHERY,but also fighting and many more.
Wow. I'm Indonesian and I don't know there's such this thing in my country. 👏

why do so many Turks copy Russian name endings? DO you worship Russia that much? hehe
Why had Ottoman Raiders“Mounted archery „ or Mongol Empire had „Mounted archery“ ;)
the scythians were the first to master it
