I find your testimony as comforting. I don't think he was being heretical , and was sympathetic given the venue, that it was off the cuff, and the nature of the gotcha question to which there is no real charitable answer. I was more troubled by his doubling down after the fact. And have had the attitude since that I don't know everything, so Im not going to accuse or slander even if I think it is in good faith. The best I think a Bishop or priest can say while remaining true to the faith is that there are rays of God's light in most religions, but that the fullness of God's truth is in the Church. So what Francis said seems wrong to me, and easily interpreted as no need to change religions, you're fine just where you are. So your comment gives me some hope that God has a greater plan with all this.
So true brother, I'm a born again Bible obeying man of God and say the pope has a antichrist spirit which is leading many to hellfire, we must follow Jesus and not man.
CCC 843 says that the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions "a preparation for the Gospel". Thus, it is in this sense that we can say that all religions can lead to God. Take for example Paul's teaching in Athens about the "Unknown God" (Acts 17:23), which became an opportunity for him to preach the Gospel. It is in this sense we could say that a religion becomes a path to the true God. But this does not mean that all religions are the same or lead to salvation because there is no other Name given to us by which we must be saved. There are many Catholics who were converted from other religions. They are the living witnesses.
Not all religions are a preparation for the gospel. Islam for example teaches that God is "above having a son." That in no way can be seen as a "preparation" of the gospel when the gospel proclaims that Jesus is the Son of God (Mark 16:16). So, the statement he made is false.
Vishnu is not God. Allah is not God. The Bhudda is not God. The Earth Mother is not God. Zarathustra is not God. Our ancestors are not gods. We are not gods. Only the one who proclaims I am who I am. is God. He reveals Himself in the incarnation of Jesus Christ. That's it in a nutshell.
To be fair, in aramaic (the language jesus and the apostles natively spoke) the English word God is Allah. That maybe just me being pedantic though. I do agree with your sentiment about there is only one trinitarian God who was incarnate in Jesus Christ.
@@Sakura8558 No! Not all religions are good. The Catholic Church teaches that non-Catholic religions hold SOME truths, but cannot lead us to God. What Francis is saying UNCLEARLY is that if any person purposefully seeks the God of truth, then God reads that person’s soul and will not condemn that person who does not understand or know Jesus. It is ONLY through Christ shedding His Precious Blood on the cross that ANY of us can have friendship with the Father. All salvation flows through Christ.

As a Catholic, I love how Pope Francis expressed the sentiment of Unity, Love, Acceptance through Open Dialogue. ❤ Building Bridges allows opportunities for evangelization; but most importantly, opens hearts and understanding of one another... just as Jesus expects of us. 🌻
One of my CCD teachers decades ago also said every religion has something of God in it, even if it’s just the recognition that something exists beyond this world. He said Catholicism is like an interstate highway in traveling toward God and heaven, while other churches take slower and sometimes twistier roads.
We are not able to have the capacity to judge who will enter the kingdom of God.That's not our business. Christ is the only real judge, because He truly knows everyone's heart, motive and intention.
@@marinalina6348 Do not judge, and you shall not be judged. Do not condemn, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it shall be given to you. No one is looking to fill the "capacity for judging." But everyone should be willing to point out that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven, and He only established one Church for all men to belong to in order to be saved.
@@Salparadise808 Indeed, to point up, yet not to judge. Christ is unpredictable, he often works in ways that we don't see. Isn’t the idea that many religions are looking for God. That doesn’t mean all religions are equal or all religions are correct. It means that all religions are looking for God.

I am 52 and left the Catholic Church for a number of reasons in my early 20s. I was confirmed and married in the church. I still respect the Catholic Church. Some of the wrongs that were a factor to driving me out of the church have been addressed. I think Pope Francis had a lot to do with this. God bless him. Can you all do a video on thoughts on coming back to the Church, particularly for those who may now be divorced for many years.
You guys are all mad, but this is what the Bible and the catechism both say all religious proclivities are aiming towards God. The holy father was being an evangelist at the time he was telling them they’re aiming it anyway, and if they want the fullness of that tradition well then they can find it under his tutelage.
1. Pope talked at the interfaith dialogue in Singapore, after his visit in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste. The context is Interfaith Dialogue. You have to consider the context when, where, and why our Pope was talking about it. 2. I think Pope Francis is correct, according to the context. He is still in line with the Catholic Church teaching about other religions. 3. As a person who originally from that area (South East Asia) I fully understand the background and to me (and people of that area), Pope is careful enough and wise in picking words when he needed to speak for the sake of dialogue. For your info: all other religions have the exact same opinion about their own faiths: "my faith is the best and the only truth". So, if Pope told them that the Church is the only truth, then there would be no dialogue, but a competition. 4. Lumen Gentium chapter 2.16 states very clearly about it and even mentions that especially Muslims together with Christians worship One God. 5. St. Pope John Paul II also stated a similar statement back in 1998: John Paul II General Audience Sept 9 1998. So, I think there is nothing wrong with what Pope Francis said. Even as a result of his visit, he was praised as the Leader of the Church who is so humble and very open. He is now regarded as the role model for politicians, religious leaders of other faiths, including Muslim and for sure non Catholic-Christians, especially in Indonesia, and SE Asian people. And that has drawn people and made them curious about Catholicism.
I totally agree with you here. I am sick and tired of people always trying to blame the pope for everything. There I something sinister behind that. If you read the two articles in Aleteia which explain very clearly what he did and did not say, you see that there is absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. We have to defend the Pope against all these demonic attacks which feed the hate of the anti catholics who will say anything just to justify their hate. 1. If your friends question the Pope: 3 simple points. Aleteia 2. Pope Francis green lights Marian shrine with reservation.
I have to disagree with you on this. Even within the context of interfaith dialogue, and supporting and recognizing other's religions it goes against the core of christianity and the hard truth. With words like this, he is validating subjectivity and that is the common theme of today's world. Jesus is not subjective, he is objective. Its his way or the highway. Only through him. So being the spokesperson or the 'representative' of Christ within the church, he has to uphold what Jesus said at all costs, no matter the context. He is appeasing society, not Jesus
@@fraspqr the Pope has said nothing wrong once you read the read details. Not half truths and opinions. Go to primary sources instead of the anti catholic press. The pope is following exactly how Jesus would have wanted it. The pharisees also thought he was a heretic.
Pope Francis' statement in Singapore that all religions lead to God is correct. Recall that Jesus Christ rejected a priest and a Levite in favor of the Samaritan who worshipped pagans. Seeing how many Catholic "influencers" on UA-cam are inciting their followers to rebel against the Holy Father is incredibly upsetting and disheartening.
Agree, all religions lead to God, the Pope said; don’t get him wrong! His was an intuitive spontaneity when making the statement because all “religions” have the essence or sense of the divine or of divinity as paths to a transcendent BEING, and that is GOD HIMSELF until they start and are led to the only “path to SALVATION,” which is CHRISTIANITY, that is in and only through JESUS CHRIST (cf. John 14;6). The Pope in making that “statement” was just being sensitive, considerate, courteous, polite, and pastoral! This is my take…and I L♥️VE P♥️PE FR♥️NCIS ❗️❗️❗️❗️🙏
I guess if anyone has had a NDE from another religion it's not be believed (not that they care personally) but if a Catholic does, its' true. I read many doctor's stories over the decades and beileve them or not, it crosses all religions
@@ChristIsKingBeCatholic You know that's not true. Many souls are in heaven and many NDE show all relgions having experiences that bring them closer to God. Pope Francis words go in line with what Pope Benedict XVI has already taught: "The journey of religions, _this quest for God in different ways_ - even if they are mistaken, but always seeking God - is assumed in the sacrament. The other religions, with their journey to God, are present and are assumed.." - (Pope Benedict XVI - Lectio Divina, June 11, 2012). Also: "In man’s present situation, the dialogue of religions is a necessary condition for peace in the world and it is therefore a duty for Christians as well as other religious communities. This dialogue of religions has various dimensions. In the first place it is simply a dialogue of life, a dialogue of being together. _This will not involve discussing the great themes of faith_ - whether God is Trinitarian or how the inspiration of the sacred Scriptures is to be understood, and so on. It is about the concrete problems of coexistence and shared responsibility for society, for the state, for humanity. In the process, it is necessary to learn to accept the other in his otherness and the otherness of his thinking. To this end, the shared responsibility for justice and peace must become the guiding principle of the conversation. A dialogue about peace and justice is bound to move beyond the purely pragmatic to become an ethical struggle for the truth and for the human being: a dialogue concerning the values that come before everything. In this way what began as a purely practical dialogue becomes a quest for the right way to live as a human being. Even if the fundamental choices themselves are not under discussion, the search for an answer to a specific question becomes a process in which, through listening to the other, both sides can obtain purification and enrichment. Thus this search can also mean taking common steps towards the one truth, even if the fundamental choices remain unaltered." - (Pope Benedict XVI - Address to the Roman Curia, December 21, 2012). And for in-depth information, I recommend reading the book: "Truth and Tolerance: Christian Belief and World Religions" - Ratzinger, J. Ignatius Press, 2004 - especially pgs 44, 205, 263. Regarding "Outside the Church there is no Salvation" there is not just a "softening" but a DEVELOPMENT of Doctrine: "Since Christ brings about salvation through his Mystical Body, which is the Church, the way of salvation is connected essentially with the Church. The axiom ‘extra ecclesiam nulla salus’ - ‘outside the Church there is no salvation’ - stated by St. Cyprian (Epist. 73, 21; PL 1123 AB), belongs to the Christian tradition. It was included in the Fourth Lateran Council (DS 802), in the Bull ‘Unam Sanctam’ of Boniface VIII (DS 870) and the Council of Florence (Decretum pro Jacobitis, DS 1351). The axiom means that for those who are not ignorant of the fact that the Church has been established as necessary by God through Jesus Christ, there is an obligation to enter the Church and remain in her in order to attain salvation (cf. LG 14). For those, however, who have not received the Gospel proclamation, as I wrote in the Encyclical ‘Redemptoris Missio,’ salvation is accessible in mysterious ways, inasmuch as divine grace is granted to them by virtue of Christ’s redeeming sacrifice, without external membership in the Church, but nonetheless always in relation to her (cf. Redemptoris Missio, n. 10). It is a mysterious relationship. It is mysterious for those who receive the grace, because they do not know the Church _and sometimes even outwardly reject her_. It is also mysterious in itself, because it is linked to the saving mystery of grace, which includes an essential reference to the Church the Savior founded." - (Pope St. John Paul II - All Salvation Comes through Christ, General Audience, 31 May 1995.).
Here is my perspective on the matter: A father had two sons to take care of, and one day he wanted them to learn a lesson and so he sent out, one by one. One son with a grocery list at night to the butcher district of the town, and the other during the day. When one of the sons did not return late in the evening, the father went out looking for him and found the son, all roughed up weeping on a street corner, and his groceries had been stolen. The father kept silent and did not say anything, he helped his son get up, get home and took care of his wounds. The other son did as he was told and got home safe, with a bag full of groceries. The next day, the two sons were encouraged to talk about their individual experiences. And the son who got beaten up, asked his father infuriated, this; Father, why did you send me into the late evening, in the dark, to the market? Knowing very well there would be thieves and robbers, or even wild animals waiting for me to be ambushed or even kill me? Yet you send my brother during the day to get the same groceries without any risk to himself or the items? The father responded lacking wisdom; I figured eventually you would find a clever way to bring back home the goods safely. A wise father, a father with response ability does not teach in this manner, meaning, to prove a point. He does not put his son in danger, without going along with him, knowing what might happen, when there are other ways, better paths, to follow. You can make the analogy to what the Father of the Church did or did not do. We came from a world of many religions, where tribes and lands destroyed themselves without Christian morals, and sacrificed to idols, worshipped hedonism, and death cults, after Christ imbued the Apostles with the Holy Spirit and they went on to spread the Good News,, religion ended, and truth was manifest, people converted because the truth set them free, because in their words the truth was spoken, and they could feel it. They did not need persuasion because the Holy Spirit was speaking trough them. The One Holy Apostolic Church was born. And throughout the nations of the world, civilization itself changed drastically, unrecognizably from what it was before Christ. Not just in the Roman empire. But everywhere. To say what the Father of the Church said, brings tears to the eyes of the martyrs of the Church. Whom did not believe in an ideology, a monotheistic philosophy, but in truth itself, and what this truth entails. They knew Christ. That He was truly risen. Christ came to fulfil prophecy, to forge a new covenant. To unite the heavenly with the earthly again. To free the souls from Hades. And to shatter the vanity and the power of the evil one. To believe in these words of the Father of the Church is to revert to times from before the resurrection. Consider this, if the Lord, is the way, the truth and the life, that means, clearly, when going astray from the way, you lose sight from the destination, you go astray, you get lost, and this has consequences, when you are lead to believe it is fine to walk on a path, that reveals half truths, or no truths, you have fallen into lies and falsehoods, into deceit, into danger, into deception, into darkness, not only to yourself, but to the people entrusted into your care, knowingly or unknowingly, and the most terrifying realization, the Lord said, he is the life, this means, all the other choices or paths or truths, lead to a deadening, or to death, death of the mind, of the heart, of the soul, of this life, and of the spiritual life, and when pondering upon all three aspects bound to one another ,, we have a very profound command, a teaching, prophesy and a realisation all coming together. It is a very serious matter. The most serious of all. Not a trivial thing. That can be swept under the rug of social sensitivities, individual or collective conditioning, or cultural circumstances of the times. It is not relative to what we believe, neither of a philosophical, or academical nature, but what Christ said defines, the very nature of the of the order of things. And points clearly to the relationship between the Creator and humanity. Between Him and us. It is not a treatise about feelings. But it reveals to us, the meaning of The Passion of Christ. Of the tears of the Mother of God. And of the state of affairs in the world. And so, I say Lord have mercy on us all and save us.
I heard a lot of “I don’t know” in this. If you don’t know. Then don’t speak. You’re going against the church if you start speaking against the papacy. These are Just creating division here. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. We will all stand before Our Lord and He is worthy to be held up and set apart. I understand what our Pope was trying to do but you and I alone are responsible to Jesus Christ for every idle word we speak or action we take. Do we keep silent to keep peace or say all religions are paths to God? In this are we denying that Jesus alone is the way, the truth and the life. Should we not share the truth in love even though it may be salty?
If people leave the Catholic Church because of this, then you are a luke warm Catholic, and we all know what Jesus sais about that. We all have till our last breath to be saved. Who is God? Isn't that what every human on earth is looking for? Pope Francis is the pope for these days. The Holy Spirit is guiding him to pull away from division and work together as brothers and sisters. If someone leaves being Catholic, they aren't committed to it. I live in a neighborhood with very devout Jews who walk to synagogue every Friday and Saturday, rain or shine, prayer is uppermost to them and I never, ever would think they are judged because they aren't Catholic? No, way above my paygrade
I agree that religions should coexist. I mean they should't kill each other's members or tear down their houses of worship. To me, that does not mean they are all equally holy or all equally good paths to God. Equality before the secular law. Not equality before God. And BTW there are religions that have evil practices that are not and should not be legal in civilized countries.
I’m looking forward to listening though I believe the answer to the question is no. Didn’t Jesus Himself admit He is “the Way, Truth, and Life” for Heaven? John 14, 6

Lame. All the doctrine is layed out in Church documents. Pope Francis has been clear on the issue many, many times. "Jesus is the only door to Salvation," etc. If you're too lazy to pick up a Catechism or to look at his previous statements - only a glance at which does provide the clarification you so desperately desire, then your confusion is your own fault. End of story. I don't know whether or not this applies to you guys, but people in general really need to hear it.
Just gentle correction from a fellow Catholic. Your opening statement is incorrect. Salvation is Only found through Jesus Christ, not through the Catholic Church . The church teaches this.
Catechism of The Catholic Church #846: Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.
The Pope's statement that different religions lead to one God, and that they are like different languages speaking about God, reflects an inclusive and ecumenical perspective. This view suggests that despite theological differences, all religions share a common quest for the divine, a universal truth, or a higher power. In this analogy, the various religious paths are seen as expressions of human understanding and experience of the divine, akin to how different languages communicate similar ideas in distinct ways. This approach emphasizes respect for religious diversity, promoting dialogue and cooperation among faiths rather than division. It's aligned with the Catholic Church's broader push towards interfaith dialogue, especially post-Vatican II, which emphasized the possibility of salvation for people of other religions, recognizing the sincerity and spiritual depth of other faith traditions. However, this perspective can be both inspiring and challenging. For some, it promotes unity and encourages a more peaceful coexistence, while for others, particularly in more conservative or exclusivist religious circles, it may be seen as diluting doctrinal truths or compromising theological distinctiveness. Ultimately, the statement underscores the idea of commonality in spiritual pursuit, encouraging openness to understanding and collaboration across religious boundaries.
What do you think about emerging technologies like brain-computer interfaces (BCI) which will soon connect individuals on a global scale? Will such advancements redefine spiritual experiences or communal bonds, and how might the Catholic Church use these transformations in human connectivity -and consciousness- to offer moral guidance?

Dialogue with Brian Holdsworth 1 day ago Brian: "Dogma is merely teaching from a competent authority. We all accept dogmas in some way in our lives because 99% of what we know has been relayed to us and accepted without first hand verification. To expect everything to be confirmed through experimentation, observation, or high standards of proof would require you to know very very little. That's not courage. That's just a refusal to trust - which is motivated by fear. That's what is cowardly. It takes courage to trust others who are put in a position of authority over you - which is a necessary thing. Parents, teachers, officials, are all necessary and our participation in recognizing their necessary authority is also necessary. Refusing to do so doesn't lead to an increase of freedom. It leads to chaos and disorder. I'm just being consistent in recognizing that necessity and the reconciling myself to finding the kind of authority I can trust. It starts with God and what he has revealed and then it leads to those he has entrusted in seats of authority to protect and transmit what has been revealed. With that, I arrive at dogma and I'm happy to submit to it because that is where true freedom lies - not in the blindness of my own narrow and limited vision of the world - but one expanded by centuries of thinkers all contributing to a shared vision." Dear Brian, Being a follower is fine, but being a blind follower? Not so much. Any dogma automatically turns you into a blind follower. You stop questioning, stop inquiring. We are scientists. Imagine if science was rooted in dogma! We’d still be living in caves, trying to figure out how to make fire. Scientists go out of their way to prove their theories wrong. That’s the attitude of humility. That’s a deeply religious attitude. True science is a profoundly religious enterprise. Don’t seek wisdom in words that are carved in stone. Seek wisdom that’s beyond words. The words of Pope Francis are that kind of wisdom. Your phenomenal intellect can never grasp this, but your warm heart can, and will. We are not Catholics. We are not followers of any dogma-religious or secular. We don’t lean on anything. We stand on our own feet. But it feels good to have Pope Francis, who just pulled the rug from underneath Catholic dogma, on our side. Find the courage to give up the idea that you already have wisdom, that you already possess wisdom-because that’s what dogma is-and seek wisdom in questioning everything, just as Pope Francis does. There is no way to get closer to God than that. In the end, that’s what true religion is-it’s your inquiring open mind. Without it, all scriptures are dead, and all beliefs are just poison. As you know, Jesus questioned everything and relentlessly challenged dogma, perhaps more than anyone else in history! He leveled the dogma of the Old Testament! Ultimately, he was crucified for confronting and demolishing dogma. That’s what true Christianity is: not to sell your soul, creating an agreement reality that can no longer be questioned, no matter how much pain and suffering it causes to millions of people. It’s not sacrificing your conscience and the human dignity of a free thinker, creating this most disgusting invention of the human mind-dogma, the blind conviction that’s at the roots of all human misery and all wars. The sense of purpose and belonging must be derived only from the truth and the truth alone. Or to put it better: from the absence of falsehood, the absence of lies. We grew up in communist Russia and theocratic Iran, in societies devastated by dogma. But there is no difference between communist dogma, religious dogma, or atheistic dogma. All of them are just different forms of idol worshiping. The problem with dogma is not its content, but its existence. “Sabbath for men, not men for Sabbath.” That’s the essential message of Jesus. This now is the message of the brave and unyielding Pope Francis. The message is: Beliefs are what you die for. Faith is what you live for. We pray that he won’t be crucified for it like Jesus was.
As a Protestant I truly believe there is greater opportunity than ever for more unity within broader Christendom, but the things the Pope says in many cases is hurting that cause
The pope is more obsessed with geo political issues and as a Catholic it’s hurting. He is the one who should die for Christ in the first place like St Peter for faith and such ignorant statements at all cost should be avoided. It doesn’t matter if you are Protestant, it’s the time when we have to stand together and proclaim one true lord Jesus Christ
As a Protestant you are taking this headline statement totally out of context, not understanding the Catholic understanding that the rays of Christ shine to all religions to draw all men unto He who is the only way.
I am the Way the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through me. 3 Persons in one. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One God one Savior.
Sorry guys I expect more from you. You can’t say that if people aren’t all in/luke warm then why do it. Then to turn and say I like to presume good will. Why are we judging people trying to figure it out. We are taught two things from Jesus, there is only one God and love your neighbor. I don’t hear much love being shared here.
Jesus told us that those who share with the poor and needy shall enter the Kingdom. Further, he spoke of the publican in the Temple who prayed, "Oh God, be merciful to me a sinner," saying that he went home justified in God's eyes. We can't presume to decide who shall go home to Heaven justified by God's mercy. We should be glad if God forgives more than we think!

Well standard part of Roman Catholics theology is that Jews can be saved without accepting Jesus as Lord. The Jewish clause opens things up to most any faith or none.
Jesus was a Jew, died a Jew, did everything as a Jew. His holiday's were Jewish and was "King of the Jews" How they separated later, what they kept or didn't is fine, but he came through the Jews. He talked to Moses and Elijah and I'm sure the many devout Hasidic Jews on my street who honor and love God are not barred from heaven but way above my paygrade.
There's no way what Bergoglio said can be "spun". If "all religions are pathways to reach God" then who was Jesus and why did he need to die for our sins? This goes against everything I was taught in Catholic school in the 60s and 70s. Just by logic, Bergoglio is saying that Jesus isn't necessary for anything. Horrifying.
Why aren't you interpreting the words of *POPE FRANCIS* in light of Lumen Gentium? He's explicitly stated many, many times before that Jesus is the "only door to salvation" and similar things. This leads me to believe that you're being disingenuous; and you're obviously guilty of calumny toward the Pope. Go to Confession.
John 3:14 KJV "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the SON OF MAN (CHRIST) be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believes in HIM should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For GOD so loved the world, that HE gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whosoever believes in HIM should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For GOD sent not HIS SON into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through HIM might be saved. 18 He that believes on HIM is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the NAME of the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD." 36 He that believes on the SON has everlasting life: and he that believes not the SON shall not see life; but the wrath of GOD abides on him."

Below are the thoughts of St John Paul II. Pope Francis just affirmed what St JPII have said in the past. Pope John Paul II was known for his openness and respect towards other religions, advocating for interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding. He believed that all religions seek truth and share a common desire for peace, love, and justice. A few key points stand out: 1. **Respect and Common Ground**: He emphasized the dignity of every human person and recognized the sincerity of belief in other religious traditions. In his encyclical *Redemptoris Missio* (1990), he acknowledged that non-Christian religions often contain "elements of truth and grace" that can be steps toward God. 2. **Interfaith Dialogue**: John Paul II was a strong advocate for dialogue between religions. He made historic visits to places of worship of other faiths, like the Western Wall in Jerusalem and the Great Mosque in Damascus. He was also the first pope to visit a synagogue (Rome, 1986) and called for the famous interfaith prayer gathering for peace in Assisi in 1986. 3. **Religious Freedom**: He affirmed the importance of religious freedom, recognizing that people must be free to practice their own faith. In *Dignitatis Humanae*, he reiterated that no one should be coerced into accepting or rejecting any faith. 4. **Christian Mission and Salvation**: While John Paul II was committed to evangelization and Christian mission, he did not reject the possibility that God's grace could be active in the lives of non-Christians. He maintained that Christ is the ultimate path to salvation but acknowledged that God's mercy and ways are mysterious. In essence, John Paul II struck a balance between upholding the uniqueness of Christianity while fostering respectful dialogue and cooperation with other faiths.
My daughter is with a man who worships a dead Korean man and an 81 year old Korean woman as God....they are also trained to attack the Catholic Faith and all other Christian religious expressions with the Catholics as number one target. They literally say praying to Jesus IS the same as praying and invoking Satan's name. If you were to apply what the Pope said to their situation, then he'd be just fine with that. Meanwhile, for thousands of years people have died for their Christian faith, and many a catholic has been denied permission to attend events at other Christian denominations. This is a slap in the faith to all of them. He is wrong to on this. He should NOT have to have people always trying to cover for him by saying he really means this... He is educated enough to know better. Think about those who also make excuses for their abusers. People are waking up to being gaslit.
Lord Jesus please help this persons daughter out of this cult .. Mother Mary take her hand and the hand of all trapped in this evil cult ..and lead them to your Son Jesus .. 🙏🙏🙏
Please understand, the Pope didn't evangelize in the inter-religious dialog. We in Asia, especially in Indonesia and Singapore, we live in pluribum in Unicum, plurality in Unity. Respect each others, despite of different religions, cultures and ethnics. We do appreciate the Pope used a very deep, generic and soft language. Debate is always ending in fighting, conflicting and destruction, no benefit for humanity.
From my perspective, Pope Francis is spreading message that the real Truth does not need to prove and protect itself. The real Truth does not pretend to be "right". The real Truth is incompatible with arrogance, intolerance, hostilities and violence. There is no need to 'defend' your truth and faith, but it is essential to be faithful yourself and live accordingly. I believe that this message is very important. Faithfully yours, bishop Vincent Berg.
Unpopular opinion but I’ve always felt this way about religions ever since I visited the old city of Jerusalem. I’m a devout Catholic and once I was sitting on mount zion overlooking the old city, it connected to me, Christians, Jews and Muslims we’re all waiting for the same thing, for God to return back to earth and for us Christians, God would be returning back for the second time. I do believe all religions lead to God because we all humans who were created by God in his own image are wired to seek our father God. Us, being Catholics, were blessed and the lucky ones but were also demanded more from God because we were given more.
I like even if not many are true, when NDE come from all religions. I like the ones from doctors and hospice workers who lose people and then they come back. It crosses all religions.
The major problem is that Jews don't believe that Jesus was the messiah and are still waiting for him to come first, and Muslims deny that Jesus is the son of God, and therefore God himself. Christ himself says that you get to the Father through Him. That's what makes it incredibly difficult - indifferentism (all religions are generally the same and it doesn't matter) is heresy.

Jesus said "there are many rooms in my father's house". Perhaps those rooms are for people of other religions. But Jesus is the way for me in the Catholic Church. Church church
So if all religion comes to God, that means I can be Hinduism right now or even Buddhism even if I am not Catholic. That also means Catholic is not the true church since all religion will lead you to God so it is not necessary to be Catholic anymore. I feel like that what Pope Francis say.
It is not likely. The pope does not even watch television if the one source I heard it from is true. It is more likely as it has been, the media twisting matters to make a story and this or that influencer pulling hearts to their agendas. Matters are not so simple. God's ways are not our ways, nor His thoughts our thought. It comes to this, God is Mercy, God is Mercy and God see and knows all, including what is in the hearts of every man and woman. God knows if a person is at fault in not knowing Him or His Church. And any who are saved are through Christ's grace, through His Holy Catholic Church, whether they know it or not in this life.
My take on Pope Francis' comment: “Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved” (CCC 1260) I think the above text from the Catechism speaks to the intent of Pope Francis' comments. Put plainly, do only catholics go to heaven (?) - no. We are all on a journey and in seeking the truth, even if misguided, we make our way closer to God until ultimate reconciliation (when we transition to the next world); where we all know the truth of God in Christ. On a side note, we need to be careful not to dismiss, reduce, or even make fun of a 'tired and older' Pope who apparently fumbles his messages from time to time (when on planes etc). It doesn't mean he is perfect or hasn't misspoken previously, but i dont think he missed the mark here.
Those he was speaking to are not ignorant of the Church though, as the very leader of the Church was speaking to them. Thus, they need to hold the Catholic faith to be saved.
Catholicism might be the "one true (complete) church", but Jesus promised that NO-ONE who comes to Him - having been called by the Father - will be rejected. That does, by the way, include Protestants. That adherents of other faiths are seeking God I do not doubt.
Every Religion leads to God, but not every Religion leads to salvation! EVERYTHING leads to God, for As Jesus Christ teaches that when He dies, He will draw ALL MEN TO HIMSELF! For salvation? No! But for accountability! All Religions will eventually be led to the Ultimate Truth, the One God! Pope Francis teaches that Jesus Christ ALONE saves! If we are being sincere before Jesus Christ and faithful to Vatican 2 and Canon Law and Holy Scripture, they teach that other Religions may possess goodness and Truth found in them, although partial! Pope Francis simply teaches that those people in these other Religions should take advantage of these gifts from God of goodness and Truth found in them, although partial and live them out by loving one another! Those who claim Pope Francis teaches heresy and error, are themselves ignorant of Catholic teaching and Canon Law and Holy Scripture! Peace always in Jesus Christ our Great and Kind God and Savior, He whose Flesh is true food and Blood true drink!
You said that babies who are not baptized go to hell. I don’t believe they do because they have no knowledge of God it’s not their fault. What happens to the Catholic parents if they refuse to baptize their children?? Do they go to hell because they refused. If people were baptized in a church that isn’t Catholic is that counted as being baptized?
How about Acts 4:12 and Philippians 2:10,11? The pope is indulging in religious Syncretism, Religious Indiffrentism and Religious Universalism and Human Fraternity. He's a Modernist and a Peronism too. This is a call for all Catholics to be rooted and grounded in their faith, the faith they received from the very beginning. Did Jesus compromise with the World, Satan and Flesh? How about Mt in his Gospel writing down a saying of Jesus - a lighted candel is not put under the bed or covered but put in a place where all who enter see the light? Or a light on the mountains cannot be hid? Those who defend the holy father in this are nothing but sophists.
I hope people will not misunderstand the Pope or purposely misunderstand the Pope. Look at the whole context, try to discern the intention of the Pope in good light, who are the audience when he said it, what kind of background and religion do the intended listeners have Let us not make a conclusion based on a few lines shown by various websites because if that's how some people do it and base their judgement based on a few lines or few explanations then it is really ripe for misunderstanding and such people are really looking for a way to misunderstand If some people will make conclusion based on a few lines shoved to them by various websites without EVEN MAKING AN ATTEMPT or only a little effort to know and understand the whole story behind such lines and without doing much research, then it seems to me that such people do not really care that much about it in the first place and just wanted to make a conclusion easily or such people are not using their God given mental faculties enough to make an effort, make a research, discernment, and just wanted things to be handed to them in a silver platter and depending on what was handed to them in a silver platter no matter how few the lines may be, they will make a conclusion because they do not want to make an effort to know the whole context themselves Or I guess some already have their pre conceived notions against the Pope and they are using the misunderstood few lines to reinforce their prejudice and even invite people to join their views --- Some points to consider: 1. The statement was made in Singapore and what are the rules about talking about religion in Singapore? Did anyone ask themselves that question? I believe they have strict rules there 2. If you are talking to a crowd composed of different religions, if you are there to unite people, be in harmony and approach them peacefully, show the gates of Catholic Church as open to them and welcome other people, which is better? be hostile and talk to them in a mocking, bad way, and hammer in their heads outright that their religion wrong? or be charitable and compassionate to people of different religions who believed in good faith in regards to their religion? 3. I recall Saint Paul the apostle when he went to Greece I think and in Greece as we know it there are several Gods the people there are worshipping... Did Saint Paul mock them for worshipping the wrong God? SAINT PAUL COMMENDED THE PEOPLE FOR BEING RELIGIOUS OR ALONG THOSE LINES AND PROCEEDED TO TEACH THE GOSPEL, REDIRECT THEM TO THE RIGHT PATH, THE RIGHT RELIGION 4. Pope Francis said "There is only one God" as per the transcript available on the Vatican Website www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/speeches/2024/september/documents/20240913-singapore-giovani.html#:~:text=All%20religions%20are%20paths%20to,more%20important%20than%20yours!%E2%80%9D. so there is no conflict and I believe the Gods of other religions is not the one true God that we Catholics worship SO IT MEANS Pope Francis means something else when he said those few lines that were misunderstood --- Let us pray for the people in general and pray for the Pope against people who attack him, people who attack the church, people who twist his words, people who purposely misunderstand his statements to support their agenda, people who do not bother making their thorough research before making a conclusion... Let us pray for the Pope's protection
Why does he keep doing stuff like this? This man should be able to control himself, or memorize appropriate things to say. I really, truly do not get it. I understand why the term popesplainer is becoming popular. Why is he doing this over and over? If he is mentally incapacitated, then he needs to get help. He’s causing so much distress to Catholics who want to look up to the leader of our church. God is not the author of confusion. Pope Francis, please show mercy for your church. Stop upsetting Catholics deliberately. 😢
Romans 1:22-23 (not all religions lead to God, in fact non Christian religions lead away from God) Also you're taking him way out of context- that's not even remotely what the pope said... he opens his statement with a call of unity and to not say "your God is better than another persons God" (paraphrasing). That is extremely unorthodox.. Jesus literally says to the woman at the well that her religion is wrong, and that salvation is through the God of the Jews. She even asks him about the hills they worship on- and Jesus wastes no time in telling her that her faith is false. even more the pope called all people of all religions "God's children" but Paul says that all people are "children of wrath before they came to know Christ and were adopted unto sonship, becoming children of God. Scripturally only Christians are children of God. (Ephesians 2:3)
at 6:22 ... any religion that says our salvation comes from Christ alone is demonic? How about any religion that says our salvation doesnt come from Christ alone is demonic.
@@CatholicTalkShow, Full quote: "any religion that says Christ is not Lord and that our salvation comes from Christ alone is demonic" Just trying to make heads and tails of this quote.
It is possible that the Pope means exactly what he says which is encouraging Unitarianism. My question is: If faiths that worship different gods lead to God - then what was the point of the Exodus?
It is only "possible" if you discount everything else he's ever said about Jesus being "the only door" to Salvation, etc. Interpreted in light of Lumen Gentium, nothing he said is controversial. It's only confusing if you don't understand the context, in which case, get to reading! You may well say that it's imprudent for the Pope to be so vague in public, but that approach doesn't take into account the scenario in which these statements were made. Francis was referring to those on a genuine search for God, to a largely non-Christian audience, and made a positive impression. I would certainly have been more precise, myself, but then I may not have been as well-received he was, thus perhaps not implanting a positive representation of Christianity as a whole that may well, over time, have a deeper impact on the local community. That remains to be seen. However, the absolute worst thing anyone can say about Pope Francis is that he made a poor decision to speak out of hand without clarifying his statements. That's a far cry from heresy!
The fact is Pope Francis does believe Jesus is the only way to salvation. However what happened is a tragedy which is most Boomers in seminary were brainwashed back in the day by Karl Rohner's erroneous theology that says Jesus is secretly hidden, more or less relatively, in all the world religions. We need to put authority aside for just this one thing and tell any Pope, Bishop, priest, deacon, theologian, or lay person this is a terrible idea, and pray for any fellow Catholic out of this error.
I went from Buddhism to Protestantism to Catholic. No way would I have gone straight into the Catholic Church without going through all that first.
I believe converts can relate to what Pope Francis said with greater ease.
Do you believe the kids Pope Francis was talking to understood it that way?
It started with the leader of the young inter Religious Organisation sharing how he was, "bullied" by others. So the Pope is actually acting as a pastor n counsellor. @@Thomas-dw1nb

Salvation is only through Jesus Christ - the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father but through Jesus. (John 14:6)
This
Not all religions are a preparation for the gospel.

No!

He said Catholicism is like an interstate highway in traveling toward God and heaven, while other churches take slower and sometimes twistier roads.

Just because you aim, doesn't mean you hit the target.

Agree, all religions lead to God, the Pope said; don’t get him wrong! His was an intuitive spontaneity when making the statement because all “religions” have the essence or sense of the divine or of divinity as paths to a transcendent BEING, and that is GOD HIMSELF until they start and are led to the only “path to SALVATION,” which is CHRISTIANITY, that is in and only through JESUS CHRIST (cf. there are a lot of us Catholics who will not enter the Kingdom of God, but at least we know what is expected of us to do so, we know what our goal is and what it will take to get there. Jesus, have mercy on us and on the whole world, Amen

You mean every Catholic? If you don't believe what the Church teaches, then don't claim to be a Catholic. The Bride of Christ is the one true Church.
“Though we know our church is the one true way, I believe that people of every religion are inquiring after the most fundamental of truths, and i believe this is a noble and human desire.” that’s what i would say.
You can say that people of other religions are seeking God, after a fashion, but to equivocate the different religions as paths leading to God is simply not Catholic.
Salvation is found only in Jesus! Jesus is the only Way to Heaven!.I saw Jesus in my dream on the Cross just before COVID-19. Telling me, dont be afraid I am with you! I saw Jesus in my dream, showing me that he is only Way to Heaven! Praise the Lord Amen 🙌🙏
Only who believe in Jesus will be saved and not all religion. Praying for Pope Francis 🙏

Glad to see this show is on the right track.. call it for what it is guys.. good job.

He was at a conference- unless he repeated himself on a plane, this was at a speaking engagement.
I heard a lot of “I don’t know” in this. If you don’t know. Then don’t speak. You’re going against the church if you start speaking against the papacy. These are Just creating division here.

End of story.
I don't know whether or not this applies to you guys, but people in general really need to hear it.
We all have the same father in heaven and we are brothers.❤

Dialogue with Brian Holdsworth

Brian:
"Dogma is merely teaching from a competent authority. With that, I arrive at dogma and I'm happy to submit to it because that is where true freedom lies - not in the blindness of my own narrow and limited vision of the world - but one expanded by centuries of thinkers all contributing to a shared vision."
Dear Brian,
Being a follower is fine, but being a blind follower?
God does not will that any man follow a false religion.
If all religions lead to God, then what is the reason for conversion? What's the point for evengelization?
Around the 4 minute mark, the Pope was in Singapore at the time of what he said.

Horrifying.

A few key points stand out:
Wow!
Hi gents. What is Fr Richard Pagano's views on this?

'When the Pope said that all religions are paths to God, he didn't mean those nasty old rigid rad-trads.'
The Vatican hopes that this new translation will help to make it clear that you're still a bad person if you try to obey the historic teachings of the Catholic Church." -Reuters
😂😂😂
Jesus said "there are many rooms in my father's house". Perhaps those rooms are for people of other religions. But Jesus is the way for me in the Catholic Church. Church church
Those are rooms for those who follow and obey Jesus Christ, not for those who adhere to false religions that reject Christ.
Northern Ireland was torn apart by hate. Almost all faiths have the Golden Rule
So if all religion comes to God, that means I can be Hinduism right now or even Buddhism even if I am not Catholic. That also means Catholic is not the true church since all religion will lead you to God so it is not necessary to be Catholic anymore. I feel like that what Pope Francis say.
You "feel"?
@@abnd8025 you're right. Is not a feeling, is EXACTLY what the Pope said.
And repeated it a few day later, for good measure.
@@ronilogepiga6480 What Pope said is not new. Lumen Gentium said that, CCC said that, St Pope John Paul II said that, Pope Benedict XVI said that.
I thought the true translation of what he said was that all religions are looking for God.but what do i know lol
It isn’t. Go watch the actual live talk he gave.
He said all religion reach God
@@pcola4594keep the Pope in our prayers
My take on Pope Francis' comment:
“Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved” (CCC 1260)
I think the above text from the Catechism speaks to the intent of Pope Francis' comments.
Hi, Guys! What about those who died before the birth of Christ? Thanks!
We discussed that in the episode!
@@CatholicTalkShow thank you! Will watch the second half tonight!
Who's incharge of authority. Ones can't select thy self validation for the things that belong to G-d
how come You all are not sitting around the table in a studio like You use to?
Mslms don’t love each other or any nonbelievers
Allah is the Arabic word for God, for both Christians and Muslims.
Our America-centric misunderstandings are a sad thing.
Look at the whole context, try to discern the intention of the Pope in good light, who are the audience when he said it, what kind of background and religion do the intended listeners have
Let us not make a conclusion based on a few lines shown by various websites because if that's how some people do it and base their judgement based on a few lines or few explanations then it is really ripe for misunderstanding and such people are really looking for a way to misunderstand
If some people will make conclusion based on a few lines shoved to them by various websites without EVEN MAKING AN ATTEMPT or only a little effort to know and understand the whole story behind such lines and without doing much research,
then it seems to me that such people do not really care that much about it in the first place and just wanted to make a conclusion easily
or such people are not using their God given mental faculties enough to make an effort, make a research, discernment, and just wanted things to be handed to them in a silver platter
and depending on what was handed to them in a silver platter no matter how few the lines may be, they will make a conclusion because they do not want to make an effort to know the whole context themselves
Or I guess some already have their pre conceived notions against the Pope and they are using the misunderstood few lines to reinforce their prejudice and even invite people to join their views

Some points to consider:
1. The statement was made in Singapore and what are the rules about talking about religion in Singapore? Did anyone ask themselves that question? I believe they have strict rules there
2. If you are talking to a crowd composed of different religions, if you are there to unite people, be in harmony and approach them peacefully, show the gates of Catholic Church as open to them and welcome other people,
which is better? be hostile and talk to them in a mocking, bad way, and hammer in their heads outright that their religion wrong?
or be charitable and compassionate to people of different religions who believed in good faith in regards to their religion?
3. I recall Saint Paul the apostle when he went to Greece I think and in Greece as we know it there are several Gods the people there are worshipping...
Did Saint Paul mock them for worshipping the wrong God?
SAINT PAUL COMMENDED THE PEOPLE FOR BEING RELIGIOUS OR ALONG THOSE LINES AND PROCEEDED TO TEACH THE GOSPEL, REDIRECT THEM TO THE RIGHT PATH, THE RIGHT RELIGION
4. Pope Francis said "There is only one God" as per the transcript available on the Vatican Website
www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/speeches/2024/september/documents/20240913-singapore-giovani.html#:~:text=All%20religions%20are%20paths%20to,more%20important%20than%20yours!%E2%80%9D.
so there is no conflict and I believe the Gods of other religions is not the one true God that we Catholics worship
SO IT MEANS Pope Francis means something else when he said those few lines that were misunderstood
---
Let us pray for the people in general and pray for the Pope against people who attack him, people who attack the church, people who twist his words, people who purposely misunderstand his statements to support their agenda, people who do not bother making their thorough research before making a conclusion...
Just maybe Pope Francis knows more than we do! And is closer to God!
Romans 1:22-23 (not all religions lead to God, in fact non Christian religions lead away from God)
Also you're taking him way out of context- that's not even remotely what the pope said... he opens his statement with a call of unity and to not say "your God is better than another persons God" (paraphrasing).
I said “any religions that says Christ is NOT Lord is demonic”.
What happened to Fr. John?
The fact is Pope Francis does believe Jesus is the only way to salvation. However what happened is a tragedy which is most Boomers in seminary were brainwashed back in the day by Karl Rohner's erroneous theology that says Jesus is secretly hidden, more or less relatively, in all the world religions. We need to put authority aside for just this one thing and tell any Pope, Bishop, priest, deacon, theologian, or lay person this is a terrible idea, and pray for any fellow Catholic out of this error.
