thank you for posting. i am a great rita wilden-fan (3rd). i`ve been waiting 34 years to see this race. the german tv didn`t show pictures of these europeans in rome because of too much commercials in the stadium. how times can change...

Great run :-) Unfortunately Irena Szewinska could not compete cause she chose 100 and 200 m. On the last leg 4x400m relay in Rome she got 48.5. Earlier in 1974 she got 49.9 and as a first woman broke 50 s barrier.
@ozinmanc no, i am a west german and they didn`t show the whole championships! rita wilden was the second best female 400m-runner of the western world in that time.
That was the golden era of Finnish athletics. Those days never come back.
