I've heard the heater produces aberrations in stars due to the different temperature at the borders compared to the center area of the corrector plate.

I suspect this is installation error. I have the dew heater ring for my C8, which I always run at full power and my stars look fine. Also, the thermal expansion of glass is _incredibly_ low, so a difference of a couple degrees across the glass is extremely unlikely to do much.
But uneven torque on the screws? That'll easily bend the glass a lot more than a small temperature delta will.

And while these things are nice, I really wish that they'd have introduced a CGEM II successor- having 2008 Tech sold in 2023 at a premium price compared to more advanced, accurate, and user friendly systems is not very intuitive.
