Amazing I got a job in optics about 7 weeks ago in UK but over this period my products are all of these which we sell to the customer after working there I had not Learned such this much because they are retailers but watching this video have given me greater knowledge about my products as I am keen to learn more to help my customers or be a better
Nice video, well explained, do you have any video to know what accesories we need for astrophotography, eyepieces? Reducers? Barlows?. Thanks and keep up the good work...
Just starting out with a second hand scope and lenses and very nearly gave up. Just didn't know how to set it all up and it didn't have any instructions with it Your video is easy to understand, full of information and exactly what I need to get me started. I can't thank you enough 👍
Greg, I truly appreciate your presentation because it help me a lot on gaining more knowledge. I have a Nexstar8SE and I love the telescope. Take care!
Greg, you are truly a great instructor. As a photographer, I thought I knew the basics, and this really helped me understand the concepts much better. I received the 13 mm and 40 mm Plosl with my EVO 8. I struggle with 13 mm, so may need to invest in another eyepiece closer to 25 mm-30mm.
This video is great. How about going into the topics: focal length, eye relief, filters, etc., into detail? I have a Celestron SE8 and this video made me understand its power
These are great videos. I am a beginner, with a new Celestron 127SLT telescope and I have so many questions. The couple of videos I have watched of yours have been really informative and easy to understand. I am so new that I don't know, what I don't know yet, but watching these videos helps me with the basics as well as more advanced topics. I had to sub to your channel too, so I can see any new videos.
Learned something important. Gregg said a 2x Barlow doesn't double the magnification, it triples it. The 10mm eyepiece with a 2x Barlow gives you 3.3 mm, not 5 mm like I always thought.
Hi loving your videos I’m new to astronomy I have just bought the celestron nexstar 8 se when looking at Orion I have the 24mm eyepiece in but all I can see is a smudge .I have made sure the scope is set up ( daytime in focus) am I doing something wrong ?
Thank you Greg, a great vlog that has answered so many of my questions, I am looking to get a telescope and this has made it much easier now, glad I found your site 👍
Great ideo Greg just taken delivery of my Celestron Nexstar 102 SLT really enjoyed your introduction to eye pieces, looking forward to watching some other videos, as I'm a 70+ stargazer virgin.Keep up the good work, clear skies.
I have that same Barlow ( if its a x-cel) the difference from the stock barlow is noticeable. It seemed to enlarge the object slightly but the clarity and detail revealed the bands of jupiter and i can see the mad hurricane
Thankyou so much for this excellent video! I just got a Celestron SE8 and am still a beginner. What are your thoughts on the zoom eyepieces, and do you feel they do take away too much from FOV? Also would a 2" eyepiece give you a wider FOV as well? I really appreciate all this helpful information.
Excellent explanation of the various topics. I am about to start back in to astronomy and i have just bought a skywatcher , sorry, skymax 102 and this video has brought back some of the technical stuff that you need in a very informative and simple way. Keep up with the great videos, thank you.
Hello Hello Thank you for sharing! Happy Holidays! Thank you so much, wishing you the same. We hope this season ends on a joyful note and continues into a safe and prosperous New Year for you and your Family.
Very good, enthusiasm for the topic shines through, couple of mis-speaks entirely forgiven. Watching for the second time, already shared it with others.
I had a doubt.... Can we use an eyepiece from any series for any telescope? For example, can we use an eyepiece from the X cel LX series for a beginner telescope like the power seeker 60 AZ??
Great presentation. I learned a lot and I can see how this will improve my viewing I wasn’t aware that I could upgrade my SE8 to 2” lens. Two question about the diagonal. 1. Will the standard Celestron 93573 Dielectric Star Diagonal 2" with Twist Lock fit directly on my SE8 or do I need an adaptor? 2. Why is it better to use the Dielectric diagonal vs the Erect diagonal for night viewing? Looks like I need to convert to 2” lens.
1. Will the standard Celestron 93573 Dielectric Star Diagonal 2" with Twist Lock fit directly on my SE8 or do I need an adaptor? It will fit without an adapter, you just need to attach at the rear cell. 2. Why is it better to use the Dielectric diagonal vs the Erect diagonal for night viewing? the dielectric diagonal ensure maximum light transmission without loss of optical quality
Very informative. Thank you! I'm loving my celestron omni az 102 . Just bought extra lenses and filters in the silver case it comes in. Its great for beginners 😁
I have that DX 102 and also bought your Observer's Accessory Kit. I find my go-to eyepiece is the 17mm Plossl and when I want to "zoom in" I use the 2X Barlow. I also occasionally use the 25mm & 10mm and the moon filter (is that the same as the Oxygen 3 filter?).
Thanks for this video great educational stuff. I have just bought the starsense 10 dobsonian and waiting for delivery. In the meantime I started to look into eyepieces with the goal of detailed, wide field viewing of planets and galaxies perhaps nebulas. I am happ to spend the extra money and was looking at the x-cel lx series to combine them with the dob. Would that be a good combo or would you recommend different ones?
Thank you for this. It helps me to understand all the meanings and options. I was surprised to learn about using filters for visual observing. It is a lot to digest but very useful. Again, thank you.
Hello! My first telescope is a nexstar 4se. I get the 25 mm eyepiece. And I just bought the 32 mm and the 9 mm eyepices. Please tell me, I get the best choices? (Omni celestron) I mean the scope and those eyepices would help me to get better views of this Universe?
Great information thank you very much This is going to be very helpful for me to learn about astronomy... Hello everyone I am new to this, but I love the night sky so I bought my first Telescope 🔭 StarSense Explorer DX 130 MM AZ NEWTONIAN... what can I really see if I live in Colorado.
A 4mm eyepiece has such poor eye relief and exit pupil size that I think that it is a bad recommendation particularly if it is a cheap eyepiece. A good Barlow would be far more useful as it can produce basically the same magnification and can replace having to purchase multiple eyepieces. Example: His 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces in the 4 inch scope would produce 26.4x and 66x magnification. With a 3x Barlow you would still have 26x and 66x available (not using the Barlow) and 79.2x and 198x with the Barlow. Thus by adding a Barlow you have the equivalent of 4 eyepieces with only 3 objects (2 eyepieces and a Barlow). He should have also discussed the different types of eyepieces (Kellner, Plossl, etc.)
Please I would like celestron to be one of the best telescopes on the market, do you think that only English-speaking people buy it or do not know that a Spanish-speaking person also buys it a comment for you or you can put written in Spanish
I saw them. Just make sure to clear the optics with alcohol first. You have a shot of vodka and breathe it on the eyepiece to make a consistent tiny layer of alcohol on the glass. You do it for all of them and you'll see amazing things. You see the flags with the smallest focal distance eyepiece of course.
I have celestron binacular 15-35x70 but binacular rubber and plastic quality is bad 👎lens quality is okay that's region i don't buy celestron products again
@SunilSharma-wl5op: maybe you got a faulty one (Celestron have a poor reputation for their quality control). I have the Celestron 15x70 model and everything is perfect so most, if not all, of their products are excellent.
One of the best videos I’ve encountered as I prepare to buy my first telescope, thank you.
GREAT video and presentation. Thank You! Greg Bragg is an awesome Teacher. I learned EXACTLY what I've been struggling with.
Thank you for your time and passing your experience down to help me learn.

Just got my son his 1st telescope, Celestron 6SE. This video is fantastic. Thanks for the great explanations.
Thank you, Mr. Bragg - very concise explanation - understandable even for a beginner like me!
Your videos are great and you're so knowledgeable, thanks for sharing Greg!
Fantastic video Greg, thank you for taking time and explaining complicated bits in the simplest manner possible :)

Absolute best presentation I have ever found for a rookie getting into this fabulous hobby!
Greg, I truly appreciate your presentation because it help me a lot on gaining more knowledge. I have a Nexstar8SE and I love the telescope. Take care!
That was great. I couldn't figure out which eyepiece I should go for for greater magnification and quality. It really did answer all my questions.

Greg did a fantastic job explaining the science behind the hobby and was very helpful for an amateur like myself
I'm a beginner , thank you so much I've learnt so much , in one video than I have in all other videos 👍😊

I was confused at first too, but I went back and listened and he said the barlow was actually a 3x not a 2x, thus the divide by 3 values.
With that Evo 8 you can get a max of X480 under great sky conditions with a great eye piece like a Luminos or a Televue.... Great video!

Great vid! Just in 30 minutes my slightly faded knowledge about astronomy restored!
Thanks Greg, you really helped me understand all the math behind selecting.
Outstanding! Thanks for spending the time to educate your viewers.

Nice general presentation. Clear and concise.
Very good indeed Greg! You’ve explained very well the important visual elements of using a telescope. Thank you!
Brilliant video. I have a 4.5" x 900mm telescope and have struggled with a few things. This video has answered a a lot of questions I have.

Excellent presentation-clear, comprehensive, and useful. The advice regarding viewing posture and eye aversion was excellent. Thanks!
Excellent video. Clear description of the subject matter.
Extremely helpful. Thank you so much!
Good job. I just purchased a 8 inch Star Bright xlt

Can you please show us how to collimate a celestron powerseeker 114eq
Nicely explained very easy way. help me lot to understand as I recently purchased a telescope f500.
Great presentation. I learned a lot and I can see how this will improve my viewing

Does a Barlow lens affect the field of view (as well as the magnification)?
Very informative. Thank you! I'm loving my celestron omni az 102 . Just bought extra lenses and filters in the silver case it comes in. Its great for beginners 😁
Thank you sir.... fantastic info!
Question : How do you tell the field of view of your eye piece eg if you have a 6mm, 10mm , 17mm & 20mm . ?
Thank you so much this was so helpful and informative 👍
About to purchase a Large Celestron, excellent presentation
This has been uber helpful to me.
Half my wants are for night terrestrial viewing. What hardware would put an image right side up and natural?
Gregg great video ty…. When and what are some reasons you would go to 2” angle and eye pieces…. Thanx
Thank you so much. This video has been really helpful!
Thanks ❤
how does the focal ratio play into all this equation?
Really well done. Thank you, Greg
Great education, thank you!

Wow thank you so much. I have Evo 6". I luv it. ✌️
Great explanation!
I have a question, what more can a 8 inch aperture telescope see compared to >100mm aperture
Very well done! Thanks for sharing, look up.
Excellent Job, Thank You :)
Great Video 👌🏻
it is a great video - Greg is an excellent explainer

Is zooming the same as changing eyepieces?
@lesliejacobs1551: Yes, but zoom lenses/eyepieces are usually lower quality than fixed ones.
Two words : Thank you
Thanks!!! Very instructive 😃
Most Excellent!
