How come you wen' change da 10 cans of beer to Spam? Your tutu no like encourage unda-age drinking? (I like da change - Spam stay a fo' real gift in Hawai'i.)
+Jody Y LOL! The main reason for the change was we made this for church. :) But yes, I prefer spam over beer any day. It's funny living in Jersey now. I still make spam n eggs for breakfast and spam musubi for snacks. HAHA!
To this day at almost 50 years old and having lived in the mainland for 38 years, I couldn’t sing the original version of this song (partridge in a pear tree is pretty much all I know) but I STILL know da Hawaiian version by heart. No matter how old I am, I will always be a Hilo boy.
I was reading comments to make sure everyone was actually from Hawaii I didn't go all the way but one comment I saw said they ware from Florida Ended up teaching this version to them Instead but from what I've seen all I can thank you for the master piece
I may no longer celebrate xmas but when I did it was definitely Motown, Jackson 5, Nat King Cole and the Whispers xmas music and could never go wrong with James Brown's Santa Claus goes straight to the ghetto and Mele ka leke maka and 12 Hawaiian Days Of Christmas...Never even thought of Mariah but I get it..
It was 10 cans of beer when I learned it in the first grade in the 1950s while attending Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School. It's still 10 cans of beer.
+Hope Hatton, RA haha. You don't know Hawaiians.... ....big Christmas items but I agree. Could pineapples or mangoes or a whole lot of other things!!!!
It's my estimation that this unique version of Twelve days was created about the time that there were still too many missionaries around, and the price of televisions came down to the point where everyday people could afford them.

We sang and performed it all Christmas when I lived there and we sang Beer
It was 10 cans of beer when I learned it in the first grade in the 1950s while attending Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School. It's still 10 cans of beer.
I made this originally for a church performance. No promoting beer in church. Lol!!!
i am singing this song for the Christmas show at my school
very cute.... but what do the 12 TVs have to do with Hawaii? Seems to not fit in with the theme.
That's what the other versions online had. The only thing we changed was it was originally beer instead of spam. :)

12 televisions? Yeah, not Ha'waiian. The Spam is, since it's a taste treat, but TV's? Ugh
TV's were in the original version I found of the song. The only thing I changed was the spam.
