Everyone should do pool work at least once a month. Works wonders. Really great for back strength and disc decompression.

I wish I had found these earlier. Had back surgery and having chronic symptoms now. This video is very helpful thank you, specially now that I started doing aqua exercises.

I have a herniated L4 and I am doing hydrotherapy for it. I agree with the Physical Therapist that being in the water helps with confidence to do the exercises.
I also found a video about my injury explaining it and showing what is happening. That really helped me to not be so concerned if I experienced a strange sensation. Before whenever the numbness, strange sensation down my leg happened I was trying not to move too much because I thought that would help but I've now learned, through experience, that moving is the best thing if I start feeling any discomfort or cramping.
Thank you to Ron for being the exercise model. I hope you managed to recover and continue to keep fit enough so that you are able to maintain your strength and fitness.

@@trksraja Hi Raja, thank you for asking.
I had a second scan and the problem is still there. I also found out, when I saw the physio again and asked her to explain the diagnosis and prognosis, that I also have narrowing of the spinal cord and arthritis so it is something that I have to learn to live with, and that I will have good days, and not so good days and probably some bad ones.
I have also had to learn how to live with some discomfort. Thankfully I do not experience real pain very often. And obviously I am having to be careful so have had to learn what I can and cannot do and what I have to do differently. And of course continue to do exercises to keep my back strong.
Unfortunately during Sydney (Australia's) lockdown I have not been able to attend hydrotherapy for 4 months but I have been doing my land-based exercises and stretches.

I feel that Aquatic therapy definitely sped up the healing of my herniated disc. You will feel immediate improvement after just one session. Highly recommended if it’s offered in your area.

I started doing these in the pool at my gym minus a couple. Ill be doing these as often as I can. First back/ab/oblique workouts on the mat, then some rubber cable for core/back, then walk 3 or more miles, and lastly these pool exercises. Do yourselves a favor and buy a tens stem machine and a good PT icepack.

This video makes me realise India still has to go a long way in health care. I have been suffering from bulging disc from Nov 2017. physio didn't work for me, yoga didn't work for me and chiro did make it better but I still have a long way to go. Finally in 2019 I had to travel from.chandigarh to Delhi as apparently only Spinal injuries centre is the only hospital in the entire country offering hydrotherapy. No other state in the country has functiontal hydrotherapy dept. Just disappointed that I am at home because of this issue which is getting worse and I have visited hundreds of doctors in different states. Thanks for this video, am going to try these excercises now.

      Hi Divya,
I am also suffering from herniated disc since Feb 2020 and doctor advice me to go with surgery.
Could you please share your experience.
I hope that you are fine now. Please help

@@hitteshkhanna498 Hi Hitesh. Sorry to hear about that. Hope you recover soon. Frankly, I was advised surgery by hundreds of docs as the space between two of my disc was less than 6mm. But I have not gone for it yet as before going for surgery I wanted to try all the other means ie if my health allows. i did end up going to Delhi for hydrotherapy and it did help but I could not spend more than two months there and had to return back home. Before hydrotherapy I had also visited a chiro ( Robert Lamport) in Mysuru. Even that was helpful and I did see a a lot of improvement after that. I am still suffering but am in a better condition now and was planning to go to Pune for treatment when covid hit the country so could not go.
I think if you are not in a lot of pain and can manage to walk , it does help. Cuz right now due to covid, it must be very difficult running from post to pillar to see the docs.
I feel going on regular walks in the morning and evening did help me a lot. I do not have anypain now.Earlier I could not sit or stand for even 10 mins. I had to lie down and then also the pain persisted. And if your physiotherapist gave u any excersises, doing them helps in recovery along with your walks.
But having said that about surgery , I do not mean this for every case, as a few cases genuinely require surgery. And I also know of a lot of people who healed from a herniated disc within a few months . I hope your case is like one of those lucky people.
Decide for yourself or get a second opinion about surgery.
But in my case I have not recovered fully and I have not gotten the surgery done yet. All the best.
My L3,L4 and L5 are impacted.

Hi Divya and Hitesh, hope you guys are feeling better now. I am in Canada and still there are very few places which have hydrotherapy, also the ones which have them are very expensive and generally not affordable in long term. The only thing which helped me instantly was acupuncture. I was on bed rest on and off for around 8 months and then hospitalised. The medical system here is different compared to India. It was of no help for my herniated disc. They just gave me heavy pain killers to manage the pain. I was not able to sit even with pain killers. I tried acupuncture and within one setting I was able to sit. I still get painful spasms in my piriformis muscle and my back completely becomes stiff after doing strenuous physical work outs but I am no more in continuous pain. Do try acupuncture from a professional is possible. Hydrotherapy definitely helps and also walking. Hope you guys feel better soon.

@@shraddhawarang65 I am much better . Thank you Shraddha , though still not recovered. One of the painkillers had triggered vertigo n there was no doc here who could perform the exercises that are there for vertigo. So I lived with dizziness for a year along with the back issue. Now vertigo is gone, thank goodness..but my back still requires some work. Cuz of covid, I have not been able to continue with my treatment. You are right, regular walks do help. Hope you recover completely, soon. Sending you love n light💕
