7 years later, still useful. I just got a mountain hardwear tent with a very similar design, couldn’t for the life of me figure out how they worked. Thanks!
Just picked up an Alps Lynx 3 man tent for summer. I saw the same plastic tightener and had no idea how they worked. Your video, (after all these years) is still serving its purpose!! Thank you for posting and leaving it up, I appreciate it!!
This just saved me a lot of time. Thank you. This should also be within some simple instructions on their site or image guide that comes with the tent, in a perfect world.
Yes! I hoped this video existed! I felt obtuse, but just couldn't wrap my head around it. Just got a Kelty H2go outdoor shower tent and it had these tighteners. Thank you!
How would anyone give this a thumbs down. Its informative. I tried for about 10 minutes and gave up I am sure If I fiddled with it a little longer, I would have gotten it. Thanks for the upload
OMG THAAAAAANK YOU! I've used my tent 2x the first time, it wasn't windy so I felt no need to use the guylines. But the 2nd time, it was too windy so I ended up doing knots. It should have been this easy. Thank you so much! Pulling out my tent now and try 😂😂😂😂
This system is included with the Meramac 6 I just purchased and it already survived a strong downpour. Great tent and great video explaining the guy system. I'll be sure to improve my lines next time!
Followed this step by step, exact same pieces, almost the same tent (Same company) but the guy lines are thinner and doing this just makes it fall apart. Not sure if they changed them, or what, but this now how they work anymore.
thanks for this video....also if could show the full tie up of the guy lines that would be awesome....since i seem to have just recieved my new ALPS tent but seem to have 1 guy rope short
Your guy ropes should be anchored as I did in the video. To set them up you just point them directly into the wind. If the wind is variable direction, then just post all of them out about centered. By this I mean you just make an imaginary line from the poles and place the wires at that point. I have not placed any guy ropes yet. It seems as though it requires a very strong wind perhaps 30mph or higher before you need to set up the ropes.

Thanks for the view and kind words. Glad to help!

8 years later, and this video has become my lifesaver!! THANK YOU! I thinking about switching to some other adjusters
Just spent 10 min trying to find an answer online. Glad you put this up!
No problem! Glad to help!
Thanks! This video was extremely helpful. I just picked up the 4 man tent and didn’t know how these worked.

Thanks so much from Australia, I couldn’t work them out, so easy now I’ve watched your video
This is the best video on the internet. Could not figure this out for the longest time.
9 years later and this video is still gold
Thankyou very much for this as ive been rattling my brain for ages 🙌👍
My Kelty Outback 4 has the same guy rope tensioners...couldn't figure them out until I saw this. Thanks!

CLEARLY...I wasn't even close. Thx for the video!
Finally I don’t have to use my stupid knots on my tent, thank you 🙏
thanks for posting. was trying to figure this out while setting up my Lynx 1. pretty nifty clamping system!
Thank you very much! Worked out great with my hyke and byke 2 person tent!
He tie the end wrong way, here is the correct tie out: ua-cam.com/video/JQOuikG02Q8/v-deo.html
Just bought a Lynx 2, thanks this helps!
Thank you for posting this! Just setting mine up today and wondering how these worked.
awesome. Thank you for posting!
Thanks for showing us! I just received my Taurus 4 outfitter and I was wondering how to use these new guy lines.
Thanks a lot. I could not figure it out. You must be a problem wiz. Good job but bad for Alps Mountaineering for not providing instructions.

Nice.
Finally found it.

How did you attach it to the tent just tie it on?
+Todd Welch mine are factory attached.
Use a simple slipknot or a overhand maybe
Thanks for the post...needed it! haha
Thanks mate, could not figure this shit out haha
How have you liked the tent? I'm looking at the explorer 4, which seems to be the same, but tan color and made by Alps for Shereper's.
thaaank you!!! it was so helpful! :D
Thanks ! Finally
Does the tensioner cut into your line? It looked like a frayed area on it.
Awesome. Thanks!
I played with the clips for a while and resorted to youtube. Thanks
Thank you!
What did you use to attach the guyline at the top? a bowline?
Auror37 it came factory tied. I'd imagine a bowline or an equivalent locking knot would work.
Matthew Lyons the Lynx 2 doesn't come pre-tied which is why I asked. Bowline is best way to start.
skip to 1:50, you're welcome
THANK YOU!
Thank you!!
