Gracias Lorrie!! I knew you had made some really cute headbands for your cutie baby grandgirl, and I now have a cutie baby grandgirl so I came looking for your tutorials. -- I just bought a whole bunch of felt. I forgot the elastic though. I like your pantyhose idea too. Thank You!!
Lorrie, We tried using the heat bond and had a problem just like Joyce below on some heavy felt using the deep cut blade on a new Cricut maker. We eventually used the felt, wool setting with "more pressure" added, and it barely cut the felt. After switching to a thinner felt, it cut nicely. My question was with using the heat bond after watching this video. It's not sticky by any means unless it's heated. I was going to suggest using a heat gun or hair dryer, but my wife just simply ironed the flower to get it to stick together. It worked but flattened the flower. We have 4 foster girls and 3 girl puppies (dog collars). This is very cool.
Chan Weinmeister results can vary based on the age of the blade and he stickiness of the mat. I used felt from joanns and amazon. Some felt is thicker than others but so far I’ve been able to to successfully cut through my felt. If you are having issues I would suggest changing your settings to make more passes (multicut). You can do this through “manage custom materials”. Also with thicker materials you may need to use the deep blade
What I mean is that the heat bond wasn't sticky when rolling the flower up. She had to heat it up so it would stick. If you use a glue gun, would you really need to use the heat bond?
Maud Percival it really depends on who it's for. I've only made them for Evie. I just had my daughter take a tape measure and measure her head where the headband would be and that's how long I cut the elastic
Loved your tutorial, thank you so much. I am curious, if your are making the other design of flowers, for the same aged child, would you still choose 3 1/2"? Love the printed felt on the flowers 3rd to the right. Is that readily accessible or a special order item.?
Thank you Lorrie for your wonderful tutorials. I followed your video to cut felt flowers to a T. I used the deep cut blade, very sticky mat, brayer, the same felt and heat bond but it did not cut through and by the end of the cutting process the blade was dragging felt fibers on the needle. What am I missing? The blade has only been used once to cut chipboard. Is it my blade?
I have followed your wonderful directions to the letter but my Cricut continues to tear up the felt. For every one flower that turns out, there are ten flowers that have failed. I have already spent more than seventy five dollars in an effort to make these!! My Cricut is only six weeks old, I bought a new deep cut housing and blade for the project, the felt and heat & bond from JoAnn's, a new strong grip mat, and ended up buying more blades because I thought perhaps the blade I had was defective. I have checked my setting ( felt with backing), brayered the felt down ( and used the acrylic block in addition) and am at my wit's end now. Have you any thoughts for success? I can't afford to buy a new blade for every flower and may have to abandon the task if that is the case. Thanks so much.
Mary Jane Grutzmacher you definitely do not need a new blade for every flower. I've only ever had one deep blade and I've used it A LOT for many different materials and it's still going strong. My best guess would be that your felt is not sticking to the mat and therefore getting moved around as it's cutting. My second guess would be that you have debris in the blade housing. I clean my blade and housing after every few cuts when I'm working with felt or glitter paper.
Thanks for responding. I did buy the "strong grip" mat which is what you demonstrated with. The felt does seem to be "pulled up" from the mat as the blade goes about the pattern. This is after a significant amount of pressure applied by the brayer and block as well. I wonder if the mat might be defective then. Also, what do you clean the blade with? Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.
So when you are putting in the measurements, are you wanting the measurements to be how large/small you want the end flower? In other words you entered 3.5, is that how big your rolled flower ended up?
Diana Kissman it’s a personal choice and it depends on which machine you have. Obviously , I prefer to use it but I always say “do what works for you “ 😊
Amy Watters depends on what type of felt you use. The maker will tell you exactly what blade to use when you choose the felt. There are so many different types of felt - it really depends which one you choose as to which blade is best
What is the reasoning for adding heat n bond a little smaller to the back if you are going to trim off the edges that don't have the heat n bond? Couldn't you just cut it to size?
swtbabee01 as long as you line it up perfectly. I didn't want to risk having it melt onto my heat press or ironing board. Any overlap will melt onto the work surface
Hi Lorrie, in my machine the settings for felt with backing are Fine point blade 331 pressure and cut 2 times well these settings definitely do not work. Would you be able to tell me what your settings (pressure/#of cuts) are for the deep cut blade with the sting grip mat that your machine is set to. I am desperately trying to work on a project and have all new blades and mat's and just can't get a clean cut. Thanks
Major money savings making your own! Thank you. I have many little cousins that will enjoy these.
Just stumbled on your great tutorial. Thank you

Lorrie I so love all of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you! Great tutorial. I stocked up on a bunch of felt yesterday so I'm ready to go! Please keep making these great tutorials! So helpful!!!

i am a bit late to the cricut maker fun but love these and want to whip some up for my cute nieces
Can not wait to make some for my great-granddaughter
Thank you for the tutorial Lori Want to make some for my grand daughter
Ha! No wonder I couldn't cut felt without it bunching up, I didn't have heat and bond on it! Thank you for the tutorial!!
Thank you so much for sharing!! What a crafty grandma you are :-)
Lorrie your intro is gorgeous
Love your head bands. Thanks for sharing them.
Absolutely adorable!!!

Chan Weinmeister I used a hot glue gun to adhere it together

AHH.. I didn't know there could be multi passes. Very cool. Lots to learn :)
Love these, very cute
Love it, thank you!!
Thank you - so cute.
Thank you for this video!
It’s so cute! Do you have more videos with different patterns?😍❤️❤️
Thank you!
Thanks for the great tutorial. About how long do you cut the elastic for baby and for toddler?
Maud Percival it really depends on who it's for. I've only made them for Evie. I just had my daughter take a tape measure and measure her head where the headband would be and that's how long I cut the elastic

I have a Cricut Air 2 on its way to me!
Jenny Billings yay! You'll love it
I want to buy a deep cute blade. Where should I purchase it?
My flowers always seem to turn out way “taller” the flowers stick up way off the headband, any advice ?
Guau!!!!!!LOVE....LOVE....LOVE
Hi I loved this tutorial. Did you buy the 3d flower cartridge? Thanks
Omg I live this! Especially that multicolored felt!!!!! Where did you get that one?!?
Hi Lorrie do you have a sizes you can remember on ribbons the length & width ? I love'm very very cute.
For the adjustable band....what do you use to make the ribbon a headband? Do you sewing the ends together or just use glue?
Karen Reynolds I sew
Was it a hard or soft felt?
Thank you Lorrie for your wonderful tutorials. I followed your video to cut felt flowers to a T. Sweet

Kari Ann Smith no the measurement is how big the cut is from left to right. The finished flower in the video is a little bigger than an inch wide
Kari Ann Smith it depends too on how tight or loose you roll it
Is the Heat-n-bond necessary? It makes the project considerably more expensive. Thanks!
Diana Kissman it’s a personal choice and it depends on which machine you have. Obviously
, I prefer to use it but I always say “do what works for you “ 😊
When selecting your size, is the number the finished size?
thank you if i am not making hand band do i need to use the bonding
which flower did you use for the patterned felt?
I can't find it. Thank you for the tutorial very helpful
Ladonna Sieling honestly I don't remember. I made those before I thought about another felt video so I didn't pay any attention
Ok thank you. I'll keep looking
What’s the purpose of the heat and bond paper?
Can you please tell me what setting and blade I would use to make these on the maker? Thank you!
Amy Watters depends on what type of felt you use. The maker will tell you exactly what blade to use when you choose the felt. There are so many different types of felt - it really depends which one you choose as to which blade is best
Hiii which meterial are u using to make this??
How do you get the flowers so the heat and bond doesn't show?
Do I need to prep with the maker? I know it’ll cut fine without the bond but do I need the bond to make it more stiff?
Shkela Lawler you do not need the heat bond with the maker
Thanks ❤️
thank you so much
What is the reasoning for adding heat n bond a little smaller to the back if you are going to trim off the edges that don't have the heat n bond? Couldn't you just cut it to size?
swtbabee01 as long as you line it up perfectly. I didn't want to risk having it melt onto my heat press or ironing board. Any overlap will melt onto the work surface
Ok that makes sense. Thank you very much for your response.
So do you always have to iron something on it to put it through the Cricut?
Hi Lorrie, in my machine the settings for felt with backing are Fine point blade 331 pressure and cut 2 times well these settings definitely do not work. Tina Kelly as stated in the video I used the same settings but I used the deep blade. It really depends on your felt and how thick it is.
Thank you
Lorrie when you are subscribed shouldn't we get notice of new vidios? I am subscribed and did not receive notice of this video"
Linda McNeely you should but if you want to be sure click the little gear and click receive notifications
Wanted to see the rose😩
Wow, I pay half that for felt at walmart. Even Hobby Lobby is a lot cheaper. I think 33c each.
notebookluvr very awesome!
I used the purple mat and followed all of your directions. The felt keeps bunching up during the cut. Any suggestions?
Lyndadumo if the felt is bunching up either the mat isn't sticky enough or your felt is too thick or your blade is not sharp
#cricutlove
are you on instagram too so i may tag you for my inspirations
if you hit the "show more" option, you'll see her instagram information. I had the same question, thought i would share.
Thank you!
