Funny. At the end when he leaves the neighborhood you can hear the roar for a block. Normally it would piss you off if you were just a random neighbor. But because you know its your friend in a Big Block Corvette it just sounds like music to your ears! Mine too.

People dunk on the c3 a lot just because it's a 70's car that was neutered by emission compliance. But it looks very sleek and stylish, and with the stock 350 you can make it very fast very easily. On of my favorite classes.
If I'm not mistaken that hood hinge is designed to lock open with just one hand operation....yu just push it up and release it after pushing it up....correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you need to use two hands @!!
I own a yellow 1972 Corvette Stingray 350 4-speed black leather interior T-tops pop out back window luggage rack with side pipes chrome bumpers front and back....And she is absolutely beautiful not to mention badass. And if you want to know what she sounds like just watch this video again.
I owned a '73 big block/4spd with side pipe headers. It's gone now. I also drove a '73 small block/4spd enough to get familiar with it. The difference in handling are night & day. Also have a '68 Camaro that has had both big block and small block in it, same huge handling difference.
What is your ignition setup? I see an old style coil and no vacuum advance hooked up..... There are some really good setups out there. I run an HEI that triggers an old Jacobs Ignition box and Jacobs high energy coil with an aftermarket adjustable vacuum advance tuned with a shitload of advance at idle and run 40* total. My 454 is in a 4500 lb ‘72 C10 and outruns all these LS3 vettes....I wish it was in a C3 and weighed 1000 lbs less, it would run 10 sec quarter miles.
Such music to my ears! I have a sliver '73 LS4 that needs to breathe better. So many question. My car is a two owner and the second owner was my brother so I know the complete history. It is a numbers matching survivor and I have been entrusted with it. I feel I do not want to molest this beauty but if I can bring this 50 year old time piece up with modernized ignition and other options while organizing and saving original parts , armed with information on the feasibility, I might be inclined to do so. Your machine is so nice. Mine is a Turbo 400 and the RPM clicking at 3 grand at 70 just kills me knowing that massive torque (r) can be happier much lower. Don't get me wrong it will get away from you if your not carful and triple digits are mere seconds away if you so chose. Even stock as de rated as this engine is ( 275 hp and 390 ft/lbs torque with 8.25:1 compression) the sound and feel is holy. The car invokes spirits and feelings which you thought were long gone. Congratulations on your rare beauty.

Very sharp ride. Which aluminum intake do you have? I just bought a 1976 454 4 speed. Obviously not original. I would like to replace the cast iron intake. The aftermarket manifold suppliers say their oval port manifolds will not fit a Corvette. Any help is appreciated.
Its an edelbrock 5061 Torker 2.0. Your options are very limited due to hood clearance as you already know. Other intakes that will fit are the Holley 300-3 Street Dominator (obsolete but can be found on eBay), an LS6 Rectangle Port (yes you can put a rectangle port intake on an oval port head, or the Aluminum L36 intake from the 68/69 427 cars (expensive). The L36 is a spread bore only, the 300-3 can use a square bore or spread bore, and the other two are square bore only.

It’s a Holley HP 950, but at the time of the video it was a Proform. Cad runs significantly better with the Holley hp. I burned my calf once. It looked like a burger right before you go to flip it on the bbq.
@@JimGuidry The first three gears in the M20 have nearly the exact spread as the first three gears in the M21, it's really only on the 3 to 4 change that you can notice the difference. That's why for street the M20 with the 3.36 or the 3 55 is maybe the perfect setup.

No manual sounds better than the Muncie close ratio 4 speeds! This car seems to have the perfect hwy rpm in 4th. CAmmed up they dont like being lugged actually more efficient having some rpm to them.
Nice car, sounds great! LOVE the 4-speed. But I HATE carb setups with an electric fuel pump and those hack-job regulators on the fenderwell. Totally unnecessary in this application. Why not put a correct 3-line mechanical pump on the engine and run a proper hard line to the carb? Looks so much better and works just fine.
Love the car, BUT I hate when someone has to drive so fast in an older car, yes its fast for its era,,, BUT a newer basic car is fast, handles, and has ice cold ac and comfort.... Dont get me wrong, I have a few vettes myself, BUT, driven low N slow

@@thud9797 I have to admit to liking the 74 Camaro. A friend of mine had a 74 Z/28 and he did that thing up sweet. It was sort of a gold color with a black vinyl top, traction bars, side pipes, nice wheels and tires, black racing stripe, the car was sitting just right. I miss the individualality car owners had back in those days.
