I know many people don't like turboprops, as they have fixed ideas on their mind. But i have to correct you on the Q400's cruisespeed which is rather 630-650 km/h groundspeed, depending on winds, not 550 as you stated. The Q400 is actually quite fast compared to jets. Regarding climb, the departure procedure out of lcy's runway 27 includes leveling of at 4000 ft after departure and maintaining that hight for a few minutes, then continuing climb. So it's not the aircraft that takes as long. It's just the departure procedure out of LCY. Usually the Q400 has a phenomenal climb rate.
I can remember taking of from Paris at the same time next to a A380 in a Q400, after a few minutes we were at a much higher altitude and much quicker aswell. Not sure if its only performance wise or also fligjt instructions from ATC and so on but I was impressed
On a Luxair flight to Frankfurt, I had the same seat, pretty noise cause the air was violently thrown against the fuselage by the propeller, but that wasn't the problem: I constantly asked myself what would happen if one of the propeller blades got lose and came my way !?😟
Just a few comments here: . The Q400 is certified up to 25000ft, not 27000ft. . Jet aircraft are also hit by Turbulence, it is not a „Privilege“ of Turbo Aircraft. . A Propeller a/c is by nature more noisy in the cabin than a Jet a/c especially when sitting close to the engines. This is basic physics. . It is not a regular issue on the Q400 to have pain in the ears due to cabin pressure issues. The approach may in your case have been steeper and faster because of ATC instructions.

It was originally 25,000ft but the Q400 has optional drop down oxygen masks which increase it to 27,000ft if this add on was chosen, though I've no idea if Luxair have this. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Canada_Dash_8#Series_400). 2. I never said the turbulence was because it's a turboprop. The flight was turbulent and the aircraft is much smaller than typical airliners, hence you feel the turbulence more, basic physics. 3. Not sure what point you're making. I said the cabin is louder because it's a turboprop. You've just confirmed this? 4. Agree, the ear pain was likely caused by the fact I had a cold. But also, London City airport exclusively has a steep approach which exacerbates the issue.
Why so negative, man? You knew you would be flying on a Dash 8. If not, your mistake! Complaining just about everything, from your seat to the view, from the coffee to the croissant! That was THE boring flight review ever!
There is no demand for much more tbh they have Paris Frankfurt and Brussels all within 1 -2 hours and on what European airline do you get free drinks and food usually either a pastry or a sandwich I’ve flown on them a lot and the service is always impecable

Fair enough, I was just going off Wikipedia which said 300-360kn, so 550km/h is the lower bound of that.
