+JDasherX most probably the work of a fan who doesn't know a lot about game design. The crits are rather simple for the most part so that the animationa don't break the pace of the game.

Kelik's animations, especially his critical hits seem to be based off of Mystic Artes from Asbel and Yuri I believe. Still, they look fantastic. Bravo.
And "Dasher" was also a nice touch.

LeoKingdom69 No problem for me. The RNG hates me. Never get a critical as advertised and I can always turn off animations.

Yeah, I like the animations at 1:47 , but all the other ones for him not nearly as snappy, which is my main problem with most of these custom animations- a good amount of them don't have the same snappy quality to it and it makes it distracting once you realize it. The ones in 2:20 are a good example, the animation feels sluggish and unsatisfying compared to the others and it looks as though the blade isn't even hitting the enemy in comparison due to it not being as punctuated.
Also the crit animation at 3:03 takes WAAAAAAAAY too long. That needs to be cut down. Oh, and it has the same problems as what I've said before, except worse purely because it's longer and also supposed to be a crit animation

Best: Halberdier for generally simple yet cool motions, nothing to flashy or smeary; 3:26 for a great combo attack and reference; Tekun's dodge roll at 0:49 ; Swordmaster at 0:17 for flashy without taking up too much time, pretty god afterimages, and cool flip.
I know this vid is old but I've now seen it...man i wish the new FE games would've used crit animations like these....these are worth seeing

Nerdgasm when i Heard Crisis from Fire emblem 3 coming on.
SO basically, every single animation is just the character go extremely fast...so fast..that you only see a bunch of slash marks from where the character attacked the enemy. Yeah, that would be cool...except it was on....almost....every single....one.

lol, I see all the Kelik animations, and all I hear is MK404 yelling out "WEEB" with every hit. XD
I hate to take the position of a harsh critic... but part of the fun of the original game is how hard it is to get a great character. Now I see that most of the damages are moderate and that both parties are affected by the massive increase in stats... but does it achieve anything? Higher displayed values mean nothing, and higher defense stats just underwhelm the massive attack stats. the newer weapons are also a subject of their own. I for one find this unnecessary, perhaps even gamebreaking. It's like having realistic combat weapons in Minecraft. Un-needed, and to be honest it kills a lot of the feeling the game used to have.
When it comes down to the animations. I like the vast majority of them.
Kilek's ones just seemed too exaggerated, and tended to drag out. Hell as a character he had no weaknesses whatsoever (shrugging of a crit with a unique weapon like it was nothing). Clearly the OC of a fan, a case of over bloated mary-sue character. I'm able appreciate the effort that went into it... I just don't like Chuck Norris re-skins.
The addition of a wolf howl at the end of the crit was a bad choice IMHO, because the sound of an explosion of power no longer marks the end of your attack, rather the bitcrushed howl of a wolf. This howl makes the crit feel unnecessarily long, because one is already used to the explosion marking the end, and that 1 extra second becomes an eternity when in gameplay. However, I don't think the wolf itself is a bad idea. Quite the opposite, I love it so much it irks me to think it is just a decoration for a crit. If anything I wonder why isn't it a character of its own.
I like the samurai-esque take on the Swordmasters as they have always stricken me as that. Also their original crit is essentially the "Kuzu Ryu Sen" from Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X). But the overwhelming amount of them, and how overpowered these are, just rubs me the wrong way.
Although I have a personal distaste towards scythes (being that they are so ridiculously impractical to use as a weapon), its animations and weapon design were of very high quality. My biggest issue with it was the crit. It makes me think: "If you have all those swords why not use them always?".It just begs the question, If the artist had the scythe animations down to a T, why not make a short and awesome scythe combo animation, rather than the overused 'disappearance into multi attack' crit animation?.
To be honest my favorite one was Ace the spear soldier. He didn't seem broken in any which way. His (cool looking) *'fitted'* body armor makes him look like he does carry the weight that the sounds hint. This is great because the stock Fire Emblem Knights looked like the spear wielding offspring of a Sumo and Hummer truck . Also his attack animations are quick and simple, but convey the feeling of strength in the hit just perfectly. The critical animation was absolutely fantastic. It feels like it's not something he could just do every time, it's more like, he just felt particularly motivated and did 3 hits with his spear instead of just one. 3 hits >1 stock knight's spinning spear bullshit.
Simple, quick and polished-looking. Ace took the price.
+SnowFireBlues It's funny to see how the Tellius criticals(using 3d models and all) also ditched the spinning and afterimages in favor of simply making more brutal hits. Also goes for skills, Alex crit reminds me a lot of the dark knight's eclipse skill with showing multiple heavy hits connecting.
As a fangame based on the GBA style of animating, I don't have a issue with the multi-attack crits though. Some might be a bit long, but it's not that far off the crazy stuff promoted Lyn and Sol Katt Lyn pulled. With the spinning attacks, I love the double spear one using it to slice when passing, and then use the other end to for a backstab finisher.
After reading this, I now enjoy this video less. Ah well.

Not only that Kelik is overpowered, he appears, in the very least, 5 times throughout the video. And most of his animations were already shown in the video. Another complain is that he appeared even more times is part 1. Did they really think that would bring more appeal to him? They were already pushing that "I'm super cool!" feeling to him with his animations and design.
The howl of the wolf of girl-Roy-with-a-wolf was unnecessary, kinda makes it look edgy, and sounds more like a honk than anything. Though that petting animation at the end was cute, I gotta say.
The only thing that bugs me about the scythe guy is the placement of the swords when they go around the enemy. I dunno, it's just weird, disorganized and is making me look like I have OCD.
And, I don't know if you know about this already, but Ace's class is a Halberdier (Did I spell that correctly?) from a hack called "Fire Emblem: Alibean Nights". At least that's where other sources pointed it out to be from.

2:38 this is why I have those fancy animations, a critical hit consists of an attack that deals 3xDamage, but clearly these kind of animations show more than three hits. However the original animations of lynn using Sol Katti and myrmidon class' animations are this way.

that dasher animation is way too long. Tekun's animations are a fucking mess. kelik is just trying to look cool and edgy but he's really just an edgelord. the wolf was not needed imo. his regular attack animation (other than arectaris/promoted?) is bad. his arectaris ranged critical hit animation is just a clone of sage and exaccus mixed together. his critical animation... ugh... it is so long and bad. it's just kelik attacking with his regular attack animation a bunch of times slowly to quickly.
