I think a very narrow cabinet next to the couch could be a good addition. It could fill up that tiny gap, be used to store dinner table accessories, and the person sitting in the edge seat could rest their drink on top too.
I feel like you could've built in a side tabe/shelf in the corner between the couch and the wall. Maybe with some plants or a lamp on it. That way it would look even more built in! :)
I was thinking the same, but like a wraparound shelf around all the back cushions with a neatly finished gap where the window is- that would center the banquette seating and create a nice ledge all around :)
I’ve realized, thanks to Team TSG, I don’t have to like the same styles that you all like, but I am constantly blown away by the courage and confidence you have in tackling new projects. I love these videos!
My toddler thought it was HILARIOUS that Becky was sitting on the table! Because he’s not allowed to sit on our table lol 😂 He’s been talking about it for the past 2 hours.
The first thing I did back when I got my own home was to drift an old solid table that I could sit on. And so I did. Because I wasn't allowed either. I sat often sat on that table. LOL.
Absolutely fabulous! I would suggest putting felt under the concrete base to protect your floors. Some cord covers for the sconces would look nice. I wonder if you could make some cool ones with wood trim? It's so wonderful to see a fun and colorful makeover!
I`m still not sold on the sofa, but everything else is S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G! The table looks very chic and that chandelier, OMG! And the chairs are really amazing
The sofa needs a a complete makeover in my opinion. I would flip the sides and have the longer side against the wall, as I really don't like sofas covering windows. In that way a third chair could fit against the window. Reupholster for sure.
Water! Water on flexi-form/ veneer helps it bend. Then let it air dry or in front of a heater. It should hold its form. You can also buy the thin sheets of wood that make up flexi-form to make your own ply by layering up in the shape. It gets super study that way too
On this note, I think a steamer would've been a big help! It helps to dampen and heat the wood without adding too much moisture. Love the table outcome though! ♥️
Every time there is a new video about this house I'm so excited and then twenty minutes later I'm sad that it's already over and I'm gonna have to wait a couple of weeks for the next one. This really is my favorite series you've ever done! The house has such good vibes!!
Having. Lived through the 70’s as a young housewife, who upholstered a couch, found yellow/orange carpet and used and painted a French provincial dining set, I really appreciate hat you accomplished!
Okay, Becky! The room looks pretty good! I do have a suggestion, in the corner where the sofa doesn't meet the wall, you could put a small serving table that you could DIY, it can hold a change of plates and perhaps the coffee cups and spoons for the dessert service, or the dessert for example, I always find it easily accessible so that you are not running off to the kitchen so much and are organised in antisipation, for clearing the first, second courses, for it's utility, you gain the time to stay with your guests between courses; if you don't have several services, you can have a lovely vase with flowers, or an accommodating tray! The sky is the limit! Just love your new house by the way! Wishing you and your family lots of happy times there.
I'm getting shishy 70s vibes. I'm auntie Linda had a similar couch.❤️ An extra cool touch would be too have a shelf circling the couch to add for coffee cup storage etc...
Super cozy and definitely sets a mood. Such a warm contrast to the cold Canadian winter it was filmed in!! The couch gives the room staying power, you would only sit there for so long if there were only dining room chairs. The cuddle factor is through the roof and I can't wait to see the whole family gathered there since the upholstery matches Danny!!
I love Becky's projects! They are usually elaborate, and require a lot of trial and error - which she tackles with grace! I really appreciate the process and the pace of it too, there are no quick solutions for anything and it's a good perspective to whoever wants to attempt such endeavors.
Styling certain things really makes such a difference because while I loved the lamp that Rachael made for you, I thought the square base looked kind of off compared to the rest of the piece, but the way you styled it on the windowsill with the books actually looks so good!
@UC8pSs_pTdy3xfydsBx_3a-w I know you don't mean the first comment lol. Thanks for the heads up that stooopid scammers are posting comments. I am reporting any I see (the joys of being retired 😂)
Thanks, I need motivation as I have that 40s house, and one month in it is needing so much work - so much work that I can give up momentarily and I can enjoy UA-cam time and see what other people do, especially their trials and tribulations. Well done getting there in the end.
I absolutely love it!!! I was a teenager in the 70's decade. It reminds me of everything that is the 70's. Especially that sofa. I love everything about your breakfast nook.
I think this transformation turned out s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g! It has such a vibrant color mix and fits the retro vide you're going for. The one thing, I would change or do is steam clean the couch. Idk if you steam cleaned it and just didn't show it on camera, but it comes off as a little dirty on screen. You can get really nice upholstery cleaning machines on amazon for around $130, or rent one for cheap. Another thing you could consider is adding a thin basket or something in that gap between the couch and the wall. A thin basket won't make the small space super crowded, and you can use it to store blankets or something. Other then those two things, the space came out great. I especially love the lighting fixture.
Hi Becy, I liked your work. I would like the sofa to fit perfectly in the space. Think of a solution, like separating and leaning both parts against the wall, the small space left in the middle could be filled with a wooden structure covered with matching fabric or just wood. It's just an idea.❤🇧🇷
Love this breakfast nook. The table turned out amazing. The one thing that bothers me a lot is a gap between the couch and the wall. I would make a console table to feel that gap if it is not possible to put a couch in the centre of the space.
Becky, the table turned out SO WELL! Good job, lady! In other business, I have a hot tip for you that will help hide some of the wear on the couch fabric cushions. Find a matching Sharpie marker and draw little dots on the bald spots. I'm a sewist, and I use Sharpies to color white elastic and white thread when it shows through seams. Fast and permanent!
The table turned out amazing! Tip: When using a circular saw on the floor, it's handy to lay down a piece of rigid foam insulation. It fully supports the board so it's a lot more stable than using strips of wood. The blade cuts right through the foam and it prevents tear out on the backside.
Knocked it outta the park !!!!! Fabulous ...and I love that dining light ~ a very bright room, the colours, the style, those windows...just beautiful love it !
Oh goodness Becky this turned out so amazing, I did watch part one and was so excited for the next video when you found a table and bought it or DIYed something to make it fit perfectly. I grew up in the 70's so all of the things you keep finding really gives me great vibes and awesome memories of those days. Thanks again for another wonderful video take care and I will look forward to your next video, sending love and hugs, bye! 😍👋👍💜💜💜💜💜
Never in my life would I have thought to use a sectional for my dining room but this all turned out AMAZING! The table, lights, and decor pull it all together so well. Could be straight out of a vintage magazine.
I have been longing for a round dining table and decided I'm gonna have to make it myself. You just have me the absolute perfect idea....I cannot thank you enough for this video
Even though 70’s style was my childhood so I’m over it, I do think your nook looks very inviting and warm. Perfect spot for intimate dinners or morning coffee and hanging out while your partner cooks. Well done!
I love this look! the visual appeal is there ! if it was me id add a cool built in side table/ groovy shapes wavy shelf for the sides of the couch that is attached to the base of the couch just to give the white chair (opposite of the window) a little shelf to put down a drink or phone(etc.) I wish I could put a drawing of what i'm meaning in the comments lol over all amazing job B! your finds are amazing and style is one of my favorite's too. Awesome that 70's house room makeover !!!
Honestly, I was not feeling the first part (BIG SOFA) but with you guys I have learned to trust the process; I loved it!!! I just want to sit in the conner with a coffee and a book. I just forget about the laundry and the kitchen. LOVE IT!!!!
Turned out very cozy! Just a nice homy feeling 😊 The table I think is a little to high for my taste, and the blue and white vase not so fine..just take up valuable space on a multitasking table..Love the lights!
Amazing!! That table! With the chairs and all! So good! I think more plants for this nook! And a tall palm tree type of plant in that corner. Gorgeous! As usual Becky!
Honestly loving the space, the 70’s style is really appealing to me more and more. So many funky cool pieces, that lighting is amazing, I love how it feels almost like a booth or a diner
I love the nook! You dazzle me. Fab lighting, fab sofa booth, fab chairs, and fab DIY table. I’m thrilled you added the blue striped vase for styling… I envisioned a bit of blue somewhere. Go Becky!
Looks very complete. It is so interesting that you added that very large sectional sofa and at the end of the day, the room appears so much larger. Love how you styled it, too. 👏👏👏
finally!! someone who is sustainable that actually is concern about the excess use of painters tape on projects!! i've always thought it was such a waste to use even tho you could probably do without it
This looks so nice. The first part of the video I kept saying to myself that it is going to tip over and then you fixed it :). I have to say I would never put this into my house, but I love to watch these videos and they rubbed off on me. I always wanted to do a feature wall behind the TV in the living room and now I find all these alternative materials to use for way cheaper but to make it look nice. Thank you!
I’m also in the process of making my own dining nook! I’ve used two specific ikea bookcases so there will be built in storage (got them secondhand so I didn’t even have to build them!) It’s taking a while because I want to have them properly “built in” and remove the skirting boards so they sit flush against the wall, but I’m stumped on how to cut them off… we also need to repaint the house but can’t decide on the perfect white 😅
I love that you used sonatube ( it’s a concrete form product) and the “ bendy “ plywood ( also a concrete form product ) and then added concrete! These products are not foreign to me , as I spent 32 years as a concrete form carpenter in the US. The whole space is wow, and just my vibe, so of course I love it. Well done❤
I personally love that sofa. It looks as comfy as heck and I think it screams “welcome, come and get comfy, kick your shoes off and relax.” The only thing that I would add would be some macrame to soften the edges of the windows. Maybe that’s just a British thing but I think it’d cosy it up just that little bit more. I thoroughly enjoy watching Becky and Kelsey work on their homes, I’ve learned so much from them and I’m gaining confidence with the power tools. Thank You, Ladies. 😘 ✌🏻 🧡
Wow, this turned into such a vibey, cozy space. The CB2 light and sconces really brought the room together! I agree with the comments to add a side table next to the couch. The current round table doesn’t seem large enough to seat more than 4 people but I guess that’s not a problem for everyday family dining. Enjoy your beautiful nook and well done!! 🧡
Hi Becky! I love what you did to your dining nook!! To hide the screws on your table base, screw the screws a little deeper and fill the holes with wood filler/putty that is stainable. You can also fill in any gaps of the seam with the wood filler/putty. I'm assuming Canada has a stainable wood filler, all jU.S. home improvement stores do.
Very, very successful DIY and repurposed thrifted items that pair beautifully with your vibe. I couldn’t be more impressed with your innovative ideas and your skill. I used to say my Mom made happy out of crappy. I think you’re made of the same stuff.
I appreciate that you take us through your journey of trying something out without really knowing if it’ll work out and/or making changes on the fly. You are very creative and thanks for sharing with us!
Omg I love it! I came of age in the 70's and this room is perfect! And the table make over came at just the right time for me.... I have a 36' round oak butcher block table that I had made in the 80', I've been wanting to make it bar height instead of the normal table top height, figured I'd have to find someone to do it for me but I do believe I can use you example to add the height to the existing base. Worth a shot! Again, love the room. All the details just brings it together.
I love this one so much! The classy, but simple table makes the couch even better for me and I love love LOVE Rachel's lamp in the bay window. This is a success all around and I absolutely adored this makeover!
I honestly acted the sofa last video but it really shines in thos nook. The table is so clever, I need a round coffee table for my sitting room so may well steal your idea! Xx
love the final effect. A couple of little things i thought of that i think might really finish it off. finish building in the couch with a sort of end table built in where there is the gap between the couch and the wall. That way it doesn't look so much like a couch on a pedestal. Continue the beadboard on that built in for the built in end table and also across the bottom of the couch. Also you've got to redo the couch. It looks so shabby with all the threadbare areas. You could buy fabrics in the same colors and sew covers with strips of fabric so that it still looks the same. But ya, the threadbare fabric has got go. its gorgeous otherwise!
Two solves - #1) Pole Wrap, #2 Just skip the tube altogether. The circle's circumference might have been a tad bit bigger, but once it was formed it would support the weight of the top. If that was a worry more supports like the one you used to fix the seam could have been used, prob 4. My point is it seems like it either of these options may have been less of a headache. Glad it worked out for you in the end....... *Btw - Looking at your finished room brought a wave of nostalgia back from my childhood. It was like I was 4yrs old again and had just woken up from a nap and had walked down the steps , groggy-eyed, to find my mother in the family room watching her soap operas. I can hear it now; "......and these are the Days of Our Lives"😂
Wednesday’s (I’m in Australia) are my favourite day of the week. I sit down with a coffee to watch the latest ep and am always blown away with what you do with so little.
I think a very narrow cabinet next to the couch could be a good addition. It could fill up that tiny gap, be used to store dinner table accessories, and the person sitting in the edge seat could rest their drink on top too.
Wouldn’t that crowd this small room? Open space could be just- open space.
@@kimhaas7586 but it isn't open, it's cramped between there. you must not be thinking of the same spot!
I think putting something there will make the banquette look built in. As is, it looks kind of unfinished.
I thought that when I watched the previous episode, 3 boards like the ones she used for the sofa base would do the trick and create a side table.
Like a teeny tiny one for seasonal placemats and tablecloths, I could see that
I feel like you could've built in a side tabe/shelf in the corner between the couch and the wall. Maybe with some plants or a lamp on it. That way it would look even more built in! :)
totally agree!! it’s so cute, but that’s the one thing that seems like it’s missing
I was thinking the same, but like a wraparound shelf around all the back cushions with a neatly finished gap where the window is- that would center the banquette seating and create a nice ledge all around :)
@@juliamorawska8181 Yes! That is exactly what I was envisioning.

this is such a sweet comment! thank you so much!
Right. I love this diy and everything, but the couch is not my vibe.. I would much rather do a bench.. but it is gorgeous for Becky’s style!
@@lousir26 totally agree!! It's not my favourite but it's perfect for her house!

or since she owns the house, maybe she could drill into the wall and feed them down, like with a TV
I`m still not sold on the sofa, but everything else is S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G! The table looks very chic and that chandelier, OMG! And the chairs are really amazing
that's exactly my thoughts. I would at least have thoroughly steam cleaned the=at worn out old sofa, as even on camera it looks really dirty.
@@judy-angedv7590 exactly I get the ick only thinking about what bugs etc can live in it
I feel the same especially as it seemed like there were four of those chairs
I agree. I wish she had gotten 4 chairs and painted them 70's orange.
The sofa needs a a complete makeover in my opinion. I would flip the sides and have the longer side against the wall, as I really don't like sofas covering windows. In that way a third chair could fit against the window. Reupholster for sure.

I agree! My husband is watching this video with me and his first reaction was - "Wateeeer! Use water Beckyyy!" lol
Me too. I was yelling at my computer screen, "Water, water, water!"
But the table and the room turned out fantastic! Way to go, Becky!
On this note, I think a steamer would've been a big help! It helps to dampen and heat the wood without adding too much moisture. Love the table outcome though! ♥️
😅I was also yelling get it Wet! Lol glad I wasn’t wrong in assuming that was how to bend that stuff

Perfect for Becky! And Rachel’s lamp looks great in this room.
Becky’s energy is always top notch. Vibes are immaculate.
I can't believe how sketchy the table was done... And it ended up SO WELL. wow Becky, you are a Genius
becky we so desperately need to see this nook at night when those lights can actually shine! >
If you spray lightly with water the plywood is more pliable. (It's what we do to form vaneers.) I might have used wood puddy on the screws.
.....wood putty
@@carolynallen597 ... thank you, 😆
I love it! It looks so cozy! I agree with the comments a slender side table in the corner with the same wood finish would be cute and functional!
I'm obsessed with all the light you put in the nook! So so so 70s and so so so cute! Groovy!
Super cozy and definitely sets a mood. Such a warm contrast to the cold Canadian winter it was filmed in!!
I am OBSESSED with that light omg. Becky them vibes is RIGHT girl.
Perfect 70s vibe, that yellow globe is everything!
Forever impressed by your problem solving skills!
love your style. not the typical style all over social media
I’m loving the style you are using in your beautiful home. I’m also loving watching you make oit all. And the globe is stunning
Becky! Beckyyy! The nook looks so cool! You have such a knack for pulling a room together.
Looks amazing!! At first I did not get the globe light but once you had it up, it was perfect. Enjoy!!!
Every detail is perfection!!! So you!!
Xx
Becky’s house is so up in my alley İ LOVE İT
It looks fantastic! Love how everything works together and all the groovy vintage pieces 💛🧡🤎
Nailed it Becky….reminds me of my childhood home!
I LOVE this breakfast nook. The couch, the lights, the table. It all comes together and looks gorgeous!!!! Way to go Becky!!
Sooooo cozy, LOVE it! I think a nice finishing touch might be a cheerful rug! But that's just me!
love the final effect.
Becky, this space turned out to be so amazing! Your vision came to life so beautifully 😍
This looks so stunning! I feel like adding in a large plant if you have space for it could be cool and also match the inspiration pictures!
LOVE the look, but the light is the BEST!
So impressed by your vision!
Gosh, everything just matches so perfectly. I can't get over it.
Stunning! I love it all! The couch is perfection! 🥰
Wednesday’s (I’m in Australia) are my favourite day of the week. I sit down with a coffee to watch the latest ep and am always blown away with what you do with so little.
